'Cape Ann'- the Massachusetts Cape named after a Queen-not an ugly fish!
If you have never been to Cape Ann before-- you don't know what you are missing! If you have been here you most likely can't wait to return. This area is magical! It's a jewel : white sandy beaches as well as areas of rocky coastline. Theater, great restaurants, whale watching, deep sea fishing, art galleries, museums, kayaking, biking, hiking and so much more.
An hour or less to Salem Ma., Kittery Maine factory outlet stores, fall foliage, Logan Airport, and antiquing in Essex, Ipswich or Rowley to name a few! If you want to explore-- there's plenty of it to do! If being 'still' is what you need, we are offering you a beautiful waterfront apartment for 2 that we call 'Sleepy Hallow'. Furnished with a queen sized bed and queen sized pull out couch, we are confident you will be comfortable. New linens, rugs, bed pillows and drapes as well. You will absolutely love staying here over-looking the Annisquam River and the back side of Wingaersheek Beach. We provide towels, umbrella, and chairs for your use at the beach.
Your private deck offers a brand new gas grill, comfy teak cushioned deck chairs with side table, flowers, umbrella and the most fabulous view of sunsets you can imagine.
Inside we have flat screen HDTV, DVD, JVC CD player with radio, internet access and washer drier on site. Games, books and Cape Ann Info for your enjoyment.
Our full kitchen has all you could need including everything to cook a lobster dinner!
At low tide you can walk down onto the hard packed sand through a right of way and spend hours swimming, walking, reading, boat-watching and more. At high tide you can launch your kayak off of another right of way that are both completely visible from your deck. The apartment is on the second floor of our home where we reside year-round. We are 2 adult females, one of us has lived in Gloucester since birth and we have owned and operated a number of local businesses over the years. We are very familiar with the hospitality industry and are confident we can help make your stay memorable. This is our third year renting for vacationers as we have previously had full time tenants. Winter rentals are also available. We are especially eager to give you our best. We look forward to your call. Paula Parsons and Debra Callahan
NO LONG TERM RENTALS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
This house was acquired by my father through marriage in 1965. He adored this location!! We acquired it in 1999 and built the upstairs apartment for him. After his passing we decided to redo the entire space again for the purpose we now offer. We absolutely love it as much as he did and never take it for granted!
I just enjoyed the most glorious week-long vacation from the noise and chaos of Cambridge. Deb and Paula are perfect hostesses - they are lots of fun, always ready with answers to your question, and just all-round perfect people to stay with. The apartment enjoys fabulous views of the Annisquam, it is super-comfortable and equipped with anything you could possibly want, and it is so quiet all you can hear is the birds singing. And there is a ton of stuff to do on Cape Ann -- in one week I felt I could only begin to explore the wonderful restaurants, sites, and drives around Cape Ann. If you are looking for a fabulous beach, look no further than Wingaersheek, a 10-15 min drive away, with free parking if you get there after 5 (and often earlier). I will be back for sure.
Deb and Paula have a great place just a few minutes from downtown Gloucester. The apartment was perfect for two people. It was clean and extremely comfortable, and it was furnished with everything we needed. Gorgeous sunset on the river! Would definitely stay there again if returning to Gloucester. Highly recommend!
Paula and Deb, your warm hostesses, should have called this "the Crow's Nest". Reminiscent of that balcony high up on a mast, the lovely deck overlooks the beautiful river vista below. We saw 21 species of birds out over the water and the property, including osprey and a small falcon, shorebirds, and a kingfisher catching his lunch. Bald eagles have been known to land on the snag out front . And I almost forgot the hens out back!
The apartment itself is cozy, immaculate, and has everything you need for cooking in, and your personal comfort. Deb and Paula thought of everything. You could relax here, or be down at the harbor for the restaurants and beaches in minutes. We love Sleepy Hollow and you will, too.

Our vacation week was outstanding! The accommodations were very comfortable, with everything we needed right at our fingertips. The deck was wonderful...beautiful sunsets, morning coffee, 5 o'clock beverage, and just enjoying a relaxing morning or afternoon. Deb and Paula are perfect hostesses; they provided lots of suggestions of things to do, restaurants, directions, and good conversation. We recommend Sleepy Hollow to anyone looking to explore Gloucester, Rockport, and surrounding towns in Cape Ann!
My daughter and I recently returned from a wonderful stay at Sleepy Hollow. We have vacationed in Gloucester for the past 15 summers and this was by far the best place we've ever stayed. Paula and Deb take meticulous care of their home and property and give great suggestions as to what restaurants to visit and sights to see. Our accommodations were spotless and very comfortable. As many other reviews state, the view is spectacular! We enjoyed it more than overlooking the ocean. It is conveniently located; close to the harbor and the "T" station, for those of you who would want to go into Boston. We have already planned our trip for next summer!
The place was clean lovely inside, had everything needed, and the views were real! Perfect location to explore with kayaks with discovery adventures, and get to Halibut state park quarries Rockland , and all around Gloucester. Quiet viewing and very relaxing there at the rental.
Whale watching while you are in Gloucester is always a must! There a several different places to choose from. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a whale up close. Deep sea fishing is always fun...Home of 'Wicked Tuna'.
