I have been a San Diego resident for fifteen years now and absolutely LOVE my city. I want the world to get to experience the beautiful place I call home!
I love the SoCal lifestyle; am into fitness, animals, and travel-- although no matter what amazing places in the world I may visit, I love to come home. There is nothing like the San Diego sunshine!
I believe in leaving the world better than we found it, spreading joy and loving one another.
Dove Braunstein purchased this cottage in 2013
I fell in love with these cottages on sight. Walking by them, we saw that they were for sale and knew that they would make a delightful vacation rental. Old Town is such a hot spot in San Diego and there isn't much in the way of a residential area, much less vacation rentals. What better location than the heart of one of the most vibrant, highly visited destinations in San Diego!? The beautiful, lush property sits hidden amongst brilliant bougainvillea and tropical landscaping, and steps away from some of the best Mexican food in San Diego!
Parking in Old Town? Unheard of! A designated spot in the driveway is yours!
A private patio area in back allows you to enjoy the balmy weather, dine alfresco, or just relax in the San Diego sun.
Wonderfully upgraded throughout, this cottage has recently had substantial renovations, including a new kitchen, remodeled bathroom, water filtration system, eliminating the need to constantly be buying water! (The icemaker in the freezer is also plumbed to the water filter!) All new furniture, paint, and appliances!
This is a small cottage style home which is the back property on a lot with 2 homes. Being the lot further from the street made it seem completely private with no street noise. The outdoor area was privately fenced with a nice table and grill. Having an off street parking space made a big difference; it gets really difficult to find parking in this area during the weekends. It's right in the middle of the shops and restaurants; walking distance to lots of great places. Also walking distance to the trolley and a cheap Uber ride downtown or to the beaches. Very nicely decorated with everything that you would need for a short or long stay. We didn't cook but the kitchen had everything (including spices) that you would need if you stay longer and decide to eat in.
Just as advertised! This Cottage is tucked away off one of the main streets, although, located right in the heart of Old Town.
All shops and restaurants were just steps away from the front door. Easy walking to the transit station, especially to catch the Coaster for the day.
Dove and Joan were very accommodating. I have a tendency to cook, even while on vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking implements. I was making favorite dinner of my grandson and was looking for a bit larger skillet. Joan offered to run out and buy one! This was quite a surprise.
The interior was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable. The sheets, blankets and bed pillows were fresh and cozy, as well as the items for the pull out.
The air conditioner was an added pleasure! The washer and dryer were an asset.
I would highly recommend The Cottage, Dove and Joan to friends and family. I am hoping to return next year!
We had an enjoyable stay. The cottage was clean and communicating with the owner was a breeze. The pictures are accurate and the place is perfectly outfitted for a short or long stay. We loved the back patio and the ability to park our car and walk everywhere, including the Trolley station to connect with downtown events and sightseeing. Overall a perfect vacation. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed in San Diego for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed this delightful cottage in Old Town. It was in the center of the action, yet private. We have rented many places around the world and there is always something that is not ideal. Yet, we found the cottage to be just right for us. Everything was convenient and in good taste. We appreciated the well-stocked supplies, the convenience of the washer and dryer, the comfortable bed, and the parking. When there was a problem with some TV stations, Dove was quick to respond and resolve the issue. Overall, we have nothing but positive comments about our experience with the cottage, Dove, and Joan. Thank you!
Loved the cottage, already planning our return trip for next year!
Stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend and the place was everything you could ask for. The hosts were great, never got a chance to meet them but communicated with them during my arrival and when I left and they were so accommodating since we had gotten in earlier than normal check-in time. The place itself is great, everything was as described, clean and nothing to complain about. Location is also wonderful, jus behind Old Town San Diego and the place has its own private parking spot which was nice since Memorial Day was a busy weekend around that part of town.
Highly recommend this place and can't wait to visit again :)
