Home has been thoughtfully furnished with a warm, stylish mix of antiques and more contemporary furniture. The artwork has been thoughtfully placed and the house is stocked with fresh, new bed linens and towels. Please let us know if you are curious about any particular details of the house.

Portland's been home since the mid 1980's and we LOVE our little city! Extensive travel & previous career as a professional guide made me appreciate having a home base while traveling. A base camp for daily exploration. My wife's a professional artist & professor @ MECA. We have daughter Olivia and two faithful canine companions Arlo & Tilda. When not working ~ we can be found playing in the outdoors - enjoying everything from simple walks on the beach , mountain biking, skiing/riding slopes of Sugarloaf or my latest obsession -paddle boarding. I'm passionate about the outdoors and all the adventures Maine offers!

Clean, Comfortable and Quiet
We (three adults) had a very enjoyable stay at David's Red Cottage in SoPo. The cottage has been thoughtfully renovated to maximize living space both indoors and out with lots of light, right-sized furnishings, and eclectic decor. The location is great - a short drive to attractions on the Cape (Portland Head Light, Two Lights State Park) and in downtown Portland. The beds are comfortable and the ceiling fans make sleeping easy. Parking is plentiful, enough for a family gathering and cookout using the gas grill on the back deck.
Perfect Getaway and Bungalow!
My sweetie and I loved the little red bungalow. The attention to detail, cozy feel and romantic ambiance. We loved exploring the quiet neighborhoods of South Portland yet being close to Portland for delicious food. The red bungalow is a dreamy place to settle in and just be.
Thank you for your sweet note and kind review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and welcome you back anytime - excellent guests!
Charming cottage near Portland amenities
Well equipped home near wonderful restaurants, take-out and bakeries. Comfortable
beds, nice fireplace. Great to be able to bring our dog!
I absolutely loved the house, it was as cute in person as it was in the pictures. The proximity to downtown Portland was great, 10 mins at most. Nice safe neighborhood. I brought my dogs so we walked a lot and they had plenty of room. I would highly reccomend the little red bungalow to anyone visiting the area.
Truly home away from home
I cannot say enough about how caring an owner Maggie is. She has thought of everything to make you comfortable. My rave spaces were stretching out on the sofa in front of the gas fireplace (an excellent cold weather substitute for lying in the hammock) and lying in bed in the morning in what felt like a tree house with skylights and windows looking out at trees in all directions. The kitchen has lots of windows and plenty of space. The location was ideal for getting to everything I needed. Really close to Portland, Willard Beach, great restaurants. Superb! Thank you.
My husband and I arrived at night, but had no difficulty locating the house because the porch light was left on for us. What a magical place! Pumpkins, colorful pepper plants, and a swing on the porch. Charming interior with skylights, wide planked pumpkin pine wooden floors, and a fireplace. A fire pit in the backyard too! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the owner, ( Maggie ). We had a powerful wind storm a few days after we settled in which left 400,000 people without power in Maine. Maggie went above and beyond to help us through 4 days without power, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our vacation. Portland Head is within walking distance from the house. Don't miss out on Scratch Bakery and Toast Bar. They are in the neighborhood; yum yum good!! If you feel like getting lunch or dinner delivered to the house try Otto. You could also eat in their small but comfortable restaurant. They make specialty pizza. Portland is around 6 minutes away by car. We love eating our chowdah and steamers at J's Oyster in the Old Port. Breakfast at Bintliff's is a must! I would recommend only going there during the week. Too long a wait on the weekends. We spent our time exploring lighthouses and beaches that were peaceful and invigorating. Love the harbor's with fall's billowy clouds floating above lobster and sail boats. We have been coming to Maine for the past 17 years, and Maggie's home turned out to be our favorite place to stay! You won't be disappointed! Miss you Maggie!
