Welcome to the newly redecorated Frederica Cottage (formerly known as Missoe Cottage). This adorable bungalow style beach home was designed in the classic cottage tradition. Just 200 steps from two ocean side pools along Coast Cottage's charming red brick lane, Frederica Cottage features a large covered front porch for sipping sweet tea amidst gentle sea breezes. You'll love the hand painted porch swing!
Once inside, you'll appreciate an open living/dining area with a dramatic vaulted ceiling and rich, Caribbean pine floors. Relax in our deluxe leather sofa and loveseat surrounded by original oil paintings by local artist Tori Anderson. The flat screen TV can be rotated for viewing from the living, dining or kitchen areas. The dining room features a dramatic, hammered copper table and benches made of recovered barn wood. The fully equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar with three piano stools that adjust to perfect seating height. The first floor also has a newly renovated marble bath and two wonderful guest bedrooms, each with a luxurious queen bed. You'll enjoy brand new high quality mattresses, linens and towels throughout the home.
Upstairs you'll find a cozy king master suite with another full bath with marble tile and floors, and all new fixtures. Check out our carved wooden head board and the custom made shams and bed skirts! The master bedroom is accessed through a separate loft area which can be closed off for privacy. The loft functions as a separate TV area, but also gives you an alternative sleeping space with its twin day bed.
Frederica guests enjoy full privileges at Coast Cottages' fabulous beachside pool, pavilion & dune boardwalk. We're located on the best part of St. Simons' beach, where you can depend on quality beach access at high tide, low tide, or any tide! (Properties south of Arnold Road cannot make this claim).
You'll love Frederica Cottage for long, sweet summers in St. Simons' favorite cottage neighborhood. Affordably priced too!

Frederica Cottage was perfect for our family vacation. it is beautifully decorated with gorgeous artwork and simple but very tasteful furniture. The porch was one of our favorite places to gather. We drank coffee every morning while sitting in the porch swing, one of the favorite parts of our trip. We enjoyed the pavillion every evening before our nightly walk on the beach. We had everything we needed and Patrick was very prompt in helping when our Internet quit working. He came to the house immediately and took a lot of time troubleshooting and getting us back up and running. We've come to SSI for 26 years and stayed in several of the Coast Cottages. Frederica Cottage is a favorite and we will most definitely be back!
We had a fantastic time at Frederica Cottage with another couple and their daughter! The cottage couldn't have been more inviting. Quaint gathering spaces to sit and talk: the porch, the breakfast table, the living room. We enjoyed the location and took long walks on the beach. We could walk to get bikes and to dinner as well. The cottage was well equipped, well appointed. It was a" little luxury" getaway. Patrick was very attentive and made sure we had all that we needed to have a worry free vacation!
The perfect vacation home!
We truly enjoyed everything about Frederica cottage! It was a great size and perfectly situated for our family of four which includes two toddlers. We were able to sleep on the same level as our children. The stairs were manageable for our little ones. The house had everything we needed including a little red wagon for getting everything back and forth to the beach which is a couple of minutes walk away. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We have stayed at several coast cottages and this is definitely the most appropriate one for families with young children. We will definitely return.
This home was perfect for our family of 5. We enjoyed sunrises on the beach and evening swims in the pool. Frederick cottage felt very cozy and we loved the porch swing.
2015 Family Vacation
We had a wonderful stay at Frederica Cottage. Everything was perfect including the weather. The cottage was so cozy and comfy. Awesome beds and very nice bedding. Adorable inside and out. Love St Simons Island and the neighborhood. Short walk to pools and beach. we will be planning next years vacation real soon. Cant wait to go back. Perfect in every way.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME!!!
The Frederica Cottage is a beautiful property and immaculately kept. We were in need of no amenities as it is furnished with everything that you would possibly need for your stay. The beds are super comfortable, and I slept better at the Frederica than I do at home! It is cute as a dollhouse and very inviting and comfortable. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes on the private street, and it was just a short walk down to the private pool area, which is very nice as well. The "neighborhood" is very family friendly. Overall, a great experience and great vacation with absolutely no complaints. The property manager, Patrick, is very accessible and would have handled any complaints had we had any. Our only complaint was that a week wasn't long enough. We REALLY enjoyed our stay. It was everything I had pictured for my relaxing week at the beach with my family.
St. Simons Island is sometimes described as a little piece of paradise. Scarcely known outside Georgia, it is quite possibly the best kept secret along the coastal Southeast. The island's majestic entrance over miles of unspoiled marshland was memorialized by Sidney Lanier in his poem The Marshes of Glynn. It's a place where an unpretentious low country meets the great ocean ... where huge tidal changes breathe life into the grassy expanse flourishing in wildlife. Somewhere in between you will discover the magic of St. Simons Island. Upon arrival, visitors are enveloped by a feeling of calm amidst ancient moss-draped oaks standing alongside glorious palms and tall southern pines. Many miles of bike paths connect a variety of shopping, eating, cultural and recreational areas within the island. There's always something fun and interesting to do. The beach at St. Simons Island is like no other. As the 7-foot tide shifts from high to low, it pulls the shoreline 1/2 mile out to sea uncovering a breathtaking system sandbars and shoals. Development is largely unseen along the north end of the beach where an abundant shrub forest has been protected and allowed to expand naturally. Acres of young dune fields nurture sensitive Sea Oats while thousands of shore birds migrate from one sand bar to the next with the receding tide. The owners and guests of Coast Cottages at St. Simons cherish their unrestricted view and enjoyment of this ecological wonderland. Things to do on St. Simons Island: Kayak through the marsh streams, walk the beach, eat at many great restaurants, climb the lighthouse, golf, tennis, miniature golf, small skate board park, go shopping at many quaint shops, go antique hunting, tour Fort Frederica, tour the Old Coast Guard Station (right next door to Coast Cottages), walk the sandbars at low tide, go skim boarding along the shoreline, take a trolley tour of the island, hang out at the Coast Cottages pool, go to a water park on Jekyll Island, take paddle board lessons, go crabbing or fishing right off the pier.
