About Robert Hodges or Norma Hodges
Rob and Norma Hodges, Owners of The Gunn House, have lived in Kelseyville for over 30 years. They are both interested in Antiques and operated a store (One Man's Junk) in the same location for many years.
Robert Hodges or Norma Hodges purchased this House in 1997
Why Robert Hodges or Norma Hodges chose Kelseyville
Both Rob and Norma took vacations to Lake County frequently; Norma to Clearlake - Rob to the Oaks. Both fell in love with the diversity of the county; especially the rural atmosphere and warm, friendly people. They met in 1990; 7 years before purchasing The Gunn House. They know if you come to Lake County once; you will return for another adventure.
What makes this House unique
People tell Rob and Norma how they feel a 'warm energy throughout the house'. This is true. Norma feels as if she knows the Dr. who had this house built in 1925. He saw his patients there and many elderly locals were born in Dr. Gunn's office; which is now a Media Room. At one time the house was used as an excellent school for local children - Hodge Podge Lodge. From it; many local young adults have learned about the arts. This house emulates good energy.

Wonderful house in a small town, surrounded by vinyards
It was everything its' listing said it would be.
Great historic home in town
The Gunn house is beautifully and meticulously restored and maintained, and the owners are generous, lovely people. We were in town for an event and were very comfortable. The location is very convenient, right on the edge of Main Street, near restaurants, a great coffee shop, and local wineries.
Happy Turkey Day
The Historical Gunn House is a beautiful property. It is located right in the town of Kelseyville with walking distance to great wine tasting room and micro brews, with tons of other place to explore. Autumn was a beautiful time of year to go to Lake County with all the changing of colors and beautiful crisp clean air. I would rent this beautiful 1925 House with all the time original furniture and appliance; it is really like living in a different time. Love this place.
Our host was very accommodating, and the house was the perfect home-base for our weekend of wine tastings. Very comfortable and charming home!
Quaint charming beautifully maintained home across street from our favorite restaurant The Saw Shop!
What I loved most about the house were the beautiful antiques. I personally would have a difficult time entrusting such beautiful pieces of art to strangers with the hopes that they would respect these treasures of time.
I enjoyed cooking on the 1925 electric stove but did not venture trying to bake anything in it. The 1927 refrigerator was a hoot! It was on the small size but satisfied my husband's and my needs. A larger group may have issues with it's smaller size and lack of freezer section.
My 6'2" husband took over the queen bed in the main bedroom. I slept in the other bedroom on Charlie Chaplain's full bed. Both beds had very comfortable mattresses and came with multiple size and style pillows to satisfy anyone's needs.
The main bathroom was a bit on the tiny size (most houses didn't even HAVE bathrooms whenthis house was built). Keep in mind our bathroom at home is huge so most any other bathroom will feel small. But especially for a big man who is used to having the space to move around. I appreciated that there was also a half bath where I could separately set up all of my toiletries.
The TV also seemed small but again we are comparing to our large one at home. We are spoiled. The one provided is more than sufficient for a vacation rental.
We had no complaints. The home, the landlord and the town were all very welcoming and made for an enjoyable stay.
Great place to sleep after a day of boating
Owner was there to great us with a bottle of wine and muffins for the morning. Peaceful nights sleep. Plenty of rooms and spaces so people could spread out and have privacy...
Town was perfect for grabbing delicious coffee in the morning and organic dinner in the evening.
