The pictures of the apartment are very accurate-- the space is clean, filled with natural light and very well kept. The kitchen was equipped with everything I needed, as was the rest of the apartment. The location is in Oltrarno, which although is not in the historic city center, is a very beautiful, quiet residential area that creates a unique living experience in Florence. The apartment is situated between two of the city's busiest bridges, so getting from place to place was easy and an enjoyable walk. Additionally, the apartment is surrounded by wonderful local bakeries, restaurants and artisanal shops. Alessandro and Alessandra were incredibly helpful and responsive to anything I needed, and were happy to be of assistance whenever necessary. I highly recommend staying here!
The apartment is located in the historic center of Florence in an authentic Florentine area, called Oltrarno. The name means beyond the Arno (compare to the Roman quarter of Trastevere), it is located south of the River Arno. It contains part of the historic center of Florence and many notable sites such as Ponte Vecchio, Santo Spirito church, Palazzo Pitti, Forte Belvedere and Piazzale Michelangelo. Oltrarno preserved until today a truly Florentine atmosphere made of art and artisans; squares, which are not only empty spaces but places where people meet and live together; these quarters welcome visitors with shops and unique workshops, cafes and restaurants, world-famous and lesser-known museums and monuments and a way of life you cannot find in other quarters of Florence.
From here, with a quick and pleasant walk you are able to reach all of Florence’s main attractions. In order to give you an idea of the apartments location it requires a 10 minute walk to get to Ponte Vecchio and Galleria degli Uffizi, while 15 minutes for the Duomo.
You can get the best out of your holiday in the city, discovering the cultural and historic beauty of the centre and of all interesting nearby villages.
