About Christine Anderson

We fell in love with Walloon when we would come up to visit family. We live in Chicago, and have 2 children and a yellow lab and wanted a retreat that felt just as comfortable as our home, yet completely different and very 'cottage-y'. We also wanted to create a haven for our family that would enabled us to really spend quality time outside the chaos of our regular life, make lasting memories as well as enjoy all seasons of Michigan ( and close to Grandma doesn't hurt either!)

Christine Anderson purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Christine Anderson chose Northern Michigan

The gorgeous turquoise water, and the warmth of an inland lake sold us on Walloon. We choose this property because it is nestled on a tiny point with recessed neighbors, making it feel secluded and private—yet still ideally located to rt 131 (great restaurants, shopping, skiing and golf...because who doesn't want to be 10 minutes away from a great restaurant?) The house has beautiful sunset views, warm clear water & hard packed sand/gradual drop off and a flat yard perfect for the kids. We found the cottage a perfect set up for our family as well as the ability to have a guest family -- 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a bunk room for the kids. Room for everyone in the open concept great room with stunning lake views and areas like the kids tv room as well as an office. It is fully renovated and decorated with a subtle up-north decor that feels welcoming the moment you step in the door and is comfortable all year long.

What makes this cottage unique

Our favorite things so far: Sitting on the dock at sunset, having a cocktail. Lounging in the hot tub on a chilly night. Kayaking very early when it's very quiet. Getting fresh veggies and fruit from CoveYou. Enjoying all the great restaurants from Charlevoix to Harbor springs. Taking the boat to Barrelback for dinner. Catching fish. Tubing. Walks through the forest preserves. Camp fires and smores. Looking at the stars with the telescope. Zipling. Skiing at Boyne. Snowshoeing on the lake.

Sunset views from a cozy, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We completely enjoyed our stay. The home is impeccably clean and nicely decorated. Great layout - kitchen and living space are open and lookout over the lake. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cookware and utensils you need to prepare meals if you're eating in. Two very nice bathrooms - also well stocked. Bedrooms are very nice with comfortable beds.

We brought our boat. Dock is set up to accommodate a 2nd boat. The owner's boat is on a hoist on one side of the dock. Guest boats can easily dock on the other side. Very close to Jones Landing (2 min. walk) so it would be easy for one person to launch / load a boat. Driveway can easily accommodate a boat trailer during your stay with plenty of room for 2 vehicles.

If you fish, there were plenty of fish to be caught right from the dock. Took the kayaks for a spin around the area - great fun. Kids can easily wade in the sandy shore right in front of the cottage. Little amenities like a basket of beach towel in front the door to the deck are a nice touch.

Easy access to Meijer - few miles north.

Recommend spending some time in the Adirondack chairs at the end of the dock enjoying the sunset!

A Must See-Must Go Place on Walloon!

  • 5 of 5

The Anderson's "Lakehouse" on Walloon Lake is all they advertise it to be and more! The owners have made it into such an interesting place with the "North Woods" decor thoughout! The home was very clean. My husband and I stayed over two nights along with our widowed daughter and her girl friend. We all had such a great time there. We kayaked and swam in the lake, enjoyed the sunsets with bon fires, cooked out on the grill and relaxed in the hot tub on the deck. The house was fully equipped and furnished to make you feel so comfortable. We would highly recommend the "Lakehouse" to anyone looking for a special time of relaxation, refreshment and enjoyment on the waterfront. The owners were just a phone call or e-mail away.

Great cottage on Walloon Lake

  • 5 of 5

We spent Labor Day Weekend, 2016 at the Anderson's lakehouse. The cottage was tastefully

decorated. Very comfortable seating and plenty of room for the entire family. It was kid friendly,

with a large selection of toys to play with. It was stocked with everything you would need for your

stay. We had a great time. Would definetly stay again!

The property went above and beyond what we could have expected. Beautiful inside and out.

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect week with the weather and the house. The cottage met and exceeded all of our expectations. The description of the location was spot on. This is a very well maintained property inside and out. The owners were very accessible and helpful on every aspect of the trip. The access that they allowed us to use the kayaks was awesome and we all enjoyed them. The sunsets were breathtaking. The swimming area worked out great for the kids being hard packed sand and shallow quite a ways out. The house was very clean inside and met every need we had. The speaker system for the ipod was great and we really liked using that. Our kids enjoyed sitting at the table in the evenings and playing board games. That was a site that I hadn't seen before, especially every night. Sleeping accommodations were everything we needed and having a washer and dryer there was great to keep on top of the towels for our crew. The only sad part of this property is that the Anderson's own it and we do not. We truly had a great time. We had originally planned for this to be a one time thing for a while. But we decided to make it a regular thing. We are looking forward to our vacation next year on Walloon already, and it will be at the Anderson's cottage if they will have us again.

A Relaxing Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with another couple booked the Anderson home for a little winter getaway and had a wonderful time and experience. We hit the slopes at Nubs Nob (20 minutes away) one day and relaxed in front of the cozy fireplace on the other day. It was the perfect balance of activity and relaxation. The home was extremely clean and inviting. We stayed over the new year and it was important for my husband to watch the bowl games, when we arrived we noticed that one of the channels that the bowl games aired was not available. I contacted Christine about our dilemma and what our options may be to get the game, she jumped right on it, within 30 minutes we had the channel. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to staying again. The cozy home, hot tub, location, view, and Christine's hospitality made our winter trip perfect. I can only image all that the Anderson home has to offer in the summer...wow!!
