Clean and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Great location with Northville just over the bridge. Home was clean and well-maintained. Description was accurate as to bedrooms and bathrooms. (It would be nice to have the basement shower available, as well). We cross country skiied at the lovely Lapland Lake, had a great breakfast at the Northville Diner (friendliest restaurant ever!), and a nice dinner at the Sport Island Pub. We also ate at Lanzi's which has the same owner, but we prefer the pub - better prices...

Definitely recommend the property to others.

Lovely Home & location

  • 4 of 5

We booked both Whispering Winds & Whispering Pines for a week. In a great location 5 mins drive to Northville if you need anything, 2 mins walk to beach & bar. Both houses were well furnished to a high standard (the only thing that caught us out was no iron). We arrived early evening in the dusk & lights had even been put on for our arrival, so no stumbling about to find light switches. Yes there are a couple of issues (whispering pines) dripping taps , slightly dated bathroom but they don't affect your stay. You haven't booked a top of the range home with gold taps. Cannot fault the contact with Crystal to book the properties , she was a huge help & replied very quickly to our questions. Would book either of the properties again. Whispering Pines is huge so you don't feel like you are on top of each other. Whispering Winds is more compact very up to date & again well furnished to a high standard.

Cooper family (uk) a party of 8.

Great home and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Our family has vacationed on this lake since we were kids and now we bring our kids here. This home provides ample living space. We have three kids and also brought my in-laws. The home is nicely kept. Attention to detail is evident. We all had a feeling of being "at home" here….like this was all ours. The restaurant and beach down the street were perfect. We found beach chairs in the shed next to the garage and there were beach towels in the closet for us. We spent a lot of time by the water. The kids loved jumping off the dock with the others. We rented a boat at a marina that was about a 5 minute drive away for the day and had a really good time. Coming back to this home after a day on the water is perfect. It’s comfortable. I even got a chance to nap in the back yard on a lawn chair. I started a fire on the back patio and we all prepared our dinners. The grill worked great also. It was a oldie but goodie. We took a short walk into town and got ice cream and visited a small café one of the mornings for breakfast. The food was great. We are certainly coming back next year. These memories are just what we were looking for. Thank you. Hope you like the picture that our daughter drew for you.

Owner's Response: We love to hear and see others having a great time on this lake as we do. Thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to hosting your family again. We really appreciate how well you cared for the home during your stay and how you left it in the same condition as it was when you arrived. Thank you!

Too many neglected things...

  • 2 of 5

In its day this place was probably very nice, most likely the best home in the area. But over the years it still has its nice features but many features don't work properly. All bathroom faucets dripped. The downstairs shower was out of service. The main bath toilet kept running. You must wash and dry your own towels and sheets, as per one of the many RULES. However there was no laundry soap or softener. No bar soap in the bathrooms. The owner lives in a RV right behind the house so you feel they are watching you. Tight restrictions on the number of visitors. No trash bags provided and no recycle information available. Oh, don't forget to take off your shoes when you enter the house, bedrooms or the musty basement. Rules, you know...

Owner's Response: Thank you. We strive for perfection with our homes and always take action with constructive feedback. We acquired this home in Jan ‘13 and yes, it did need sprucing up. We have worked so hard to liven this home back to where it should be. Be assured, this home in the Historic Sacandaga Park is still in the upper echelon. We also own the home next door that we built from Jan-Apr ‘14 and could have been staying there if it wasn't booked. Additionally, we are building another home on a nearby lot where she says we had our RV, which is more than 200 ft. away from the home. The homes in the area where we own are spaced far apart unlike some other parts of the Park, where they can be within 10 ft. of each other. The bathroom faucets are on the schedule to be updated this off-season. We did have a water line leak in the basement and have since replaced every water line in the home & remedied the minor musty smell as basements sometimes get anyway. The home is listed as only having 1.5 bathroom so the downstairs shower is not out of service, but rather not available for use. Guests use the one full bath & the half bath on the main level. We do provide laundry detergent & ask guests to wash the towel load & run in dryer and start one more load & leave in the washer for the maid to finish prior to leaving. Most guests wash everything & place things back where they find them. This is extremely helpful especially in the summer when we are booked with same day departure/arrivals. This guest booked in Jan to attend a family reunion at her Brother-in-law's lake house in Aug. In July she asks to host the reunion at this home of ours, which we did not approve. Hosting parties is addressed in our rental agreement as “not allowed.” She was very upset as she said this house and yard would have been much better than their current location. She went back and forth with me while my family was away on vacation. We arrived back from vacation & stayed on one of our vacant lots to enjoy the lake as we usually do during the summer. We were on the lake as usual, not “watching” them. Vacation homes are self-catering & we send a guide to help guests pack accordingly. We do have start up items such as hand soap, toilet paper, trash bag (s), etc...This guest was not happy she didn't get her own way regarding hosting her family reunion here. When something belongs to someone else, obey the rules…that is how I was raised.
