The full kitchen has all the cooking utensils a cook would need including an outdoor gas grill. This is your spot. Make it your home away from home.
This house was built to accommodate 2 golf foursomes and has been a family retreat for many years. With the family scattered throughout the southeast the house stays empty much of the year which is why we have opened our doors to you. We know you will love the peace and serenity of Rocky Acres Retreat.
Steve Clark purchased this house in 1987
The house sits on 1 acre and we also own another 5 acres adjacent to it. Our back yard is in fact a part of Stone Mountain State Park and across the gravel private drive are another 10 acres of undeveloped private property. So you are literally surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods where the only neighbors are the wildlife. We are only a short walk from the Blue Ridge Parkway so some of the most beautiful scenery in the country can be seen from our deck or just a short walk down the driveway. We know you will enjoy the peaceful mountain life. Your only neighbors are the wildlife. With 2400 square feet of living space your family and friends can enjoy gathering together and not feel cramped with plenty of seating space so everyone can spread out and truly relax.
Stone Mountain State Park is our back yard. You are literally surrounded by Stone Mountain State Park. Walk south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Stone Mountain Lookout. The park is only a 10 minute drive from the house. 10 miles down the Parkway is Doughton Park with a 6,000-acre landscape of open meadows and pioneer cabins and some of the best hiking around. Sparta, which is only 9 miles down the road has some of the best bluegrass music in North Carolina at the Alleghany Jubilee. There are over thirty wineries within a 30 mile radius of our house. Just pick one or several to enjoy the day wine tasting. Antiquing is another activity you can enjoy. Include antiquing with wine tasting and have a blast. Down in Sparta is the New River State Park and New River Campground where you can enjoy the cool waters on a canoe or kayaking trip. Five golf courses are close by too. Get in 18 at either Roaring Gap Golf Course, Olde Beau Golf Club, Deer Creek Golf Course, Stone Mountain Golf Club and High Meadows Golf & Country Club. Buy some deer corn at the local store and place some in the center island in the driveway and sit on the deck and watch the deer come up to feed. The wrap around deck is large enough to put out the corn hole game (provided) and heat up the competition or just sit on one of the eight rocking chairs and enjoy the scenery. On those cold rainy days curl up by the stone gas log fireplace or enjoy one of the 200 DVD's on the 40 inch HDTV with ROKU and WiFi. The full kitchen is a cooks delight with everything you need to make a cake or pie or whip up that old family favorite meal. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and experience some country living. The phone won't ring unless you give someone the number and it is so quiet outside you can hear the turkey gobbling in the woods and watch as the deer stroll by the house. You won't find a more peaceful retreat with so many amenities so close
This cabin was very comfortable and met all our needs for our family of 8. The large kitchen had lots of cabinets and counter space and was stocked with every single item you could look for (including the rolling pin!) and all dishes, pans, silverware, utensils and appliances were in great shape. We arrived on Wednesday and left on Sunday and did not eat out at all so having a great cooking space was important. We didn't skip a beat when it came to preparing our usual spread on Thanksgiving day, requiring only that we bring our own food supplies! The bedrooms were all comfortable spaces and baths were well maintained too. The property privacy and sunset views were superb! We especially enjoyed the rocking chairs and corn hole on the huge and well maintained deck. Asthetics indoors were okay but not superb as furniture is dated but very comfortable. Need to stretch main level carpet and clean it. I would recommend this to friends and we would go again.
This well equipped, spacious and lovely cabin has everything. It is the most secluded and quiet cabin we have every stayed in. The location is perfect for being close to Parkway, Stone Mt. Park and within an hour drive to West Jefferson. Can't Wait to Return.

A group of us decided to tour the Yadkin Valley wineries and needed a mountain retreat to accommodate us. The Rocky Rocky Acres Retreat was perfect for our group of 7!
The kitchen was fully stocked, which was great since we all took turns cooking meals during our stay. We had a wonderful time hanging out on the big beautiful deck and taking in that gorgeous view.
Steve was fantastic! He was very helpful in answering questions and extremely communicative. Plenty of information was provided for the property and the surrounding areas.
This was my extended family's 2nd trip here. Best stocked kitchen of any place we have ever stayed. First night loved sitting in rockers on deck and looking in amazement at the many, many stars. Favorite activity was cornhole! Favorite tourist activity this time was our visit to Brinegar Cabin at Doughton Park. Ranger was soooo knowledgeable. Felt we stepped back in time. Cabin very near parkway. Loved our stay!
The property was very beautiful. We stayed for 2 days and there was so much more to explore. I used the suggestions given and enjoyed all the beautiful scenery and wildlife. The house had lots of space (especially since there was just 3 of us). The deck was so relaxing, and it has such a wonderful view. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
Some women wanted to catch up since we no longer all work together. This was the Perfect place. Serenity is definitely the right description. The place was very clean and well accommodating. We had everything we needed including nothing but the sounds of nature. There was a lot of information about things to do in the area, which were most helpful in making plans for each day. As suggested, Circle L was a good place to eat (if you blink you will miss it-LOL). Stone Mountain was great for a little waterfall hike and picnic. Then just relaxing on the deck in those wooden rocking chairs to start the mornings and end the day. Nature watching-- at its finest-- especially on the parkway early morning and evening. Deer, deer and more deer-- but don't forget about rabbits and birds too.
