Northern Michigan House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom 2 Bath with Bonus Room and Huge Deck Overlooking Grand Traverse Bay

Hidden Lore is a magnificent lakefront home beautifully positioned on the shore along Old Mission Peninsula’s Bluff Road just south of Willow Point. It features a natural fireplace, hardwood floors and walls of windows facing the East Bay. This home was renovated in 2010 and has a fully equipped Kitchen with granite countertops, flat screen television and free Wi-Fi. The Master Bedroom has private bath with whirlpool and shower, king sized bed and corner windows. Both Guest Bedrooms have queen beds. The Bonus Room has large sectional sofa and 3 Murphy-style beds. The 2nd Bath has double vanities and tub/shower. Please look at our pictures for further details. Full-sized washer and dryer are located in the Master Bath

Enjoy times along the waterfront, relax on the huge deck or at the end of the dock and watch the boats, cook your supper on the gas grill, then let the soft sound of the water lapping on shore lull you to sleep at night. All you have to do is crack open a window in the master bedroom and you WILL hear the water on even the quietest nights.

This lakefront house is on the very prestigious Old Mission Peninsula, known for it’s long history, multiple vineyards, awesome restaurants and old Lighthouse. Traverse City’s renowned Front Street is only 8.5 miles away, playing host to fun shops, galleries, breweries, restaurants and State Theatre, recently voted by the Motion Picture Association of America as the #1 movie theater in the world.

About Steve McAuliffe

We live on Florida's west coast and have many family members throughout Michigan.

Why Steve McAuliffe chose Northern Michigan

With so many family members already living in Michigan, we wanted a vacation home that all could enjoy. We looked at neighborhoods throughout NW Michigan and fell in love with this home.

Old Mission Peninsula is a one-of-a-kind location.

What makes this house unique

Very Narrow Beach (lake levels are rising) - there are small rocks (including some Petoskey stones) close to shore and you may want to bring water shoes--see photos. Long dock, great for fishing, during the summer months. Clear lake water. Direct lake views from Master Bedroom, Living Room, Kitchen, Guest Room 1 and Bonus Room. Lots to do and enjoy within a 10-15 minute drive.

Amazing summer retreat up north!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary as a family. The home was wonderful and versatile for the two of them to enjoy by themselves and for the full family of 10 to relax together. It's perfectly tucked away mid way up Misson Pennisula in between the road and the bay. The massive deck and all the homes windows ensure you enjoy living right on the bay and never miss the view. You are close to enjoy all TC and the Pennisula have to offer, but the home's location provides seclusion to enjoy quiet time on the beach and falling asleep to the water lapping. The house is very nicely decorated and furnished. It has a ton of supplies for the beds, baths, and kitchen. The rec room has a fooseball table, toys for younger kids, and many games, puzzles, and videos. The only negative would be a very short beach because of high water levels and a lot of rocks. Water shoes easily overcome the rocks and the property is very wide which helps overcome the shortness of the beach, though there still isn't a great space for kids lay out and dig in the sand. The nice shallow waters of East Bay are very clean here and make it easy and safe for little kids and our dogs to play. Plus, being on the east side of the peninsula give you sunrise views and warmth early to be out enjoying the deck, beach, and dock. The owner is great to work with, takes pride in his property which shows in the quality, and is very responsive. We are extremely excited to be going back!

Amazing beach cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here. My dogs played in the water non-stop. We biked, made dinner, went to dinner, and checked out the vineyards. It was a perfect escape for me, my boyfriend, his sister, and my parents. I can't recommend this place enough. Hope we can come back again!!

Great Summer Vacation Destination

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home was an excellent destination for our week-long stay in the Traverse City area. It is far enough up the Mission Peninsula to feel quiet and secluded, but close enough to TC to partake in the local activities or to just make a last minute grocery run.

The home beat our expectations in every way: the beach was beautiful, the water was clear and calm, and our many meals on the deck will form lasting memories for our children.

I would definitely recommend this rental to families with kids, although it would be great for an adult retreat, too.

Delightful home on Old Mission Penisula

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home was a pleasure to stay in. The location is great. Down a sloping, wooded driveway you arrive at this special place. At first glance the house is unassuming yet lives large and comfortable. Great kitchen with lots of bar seating. Both baths are large with washer and dryer in master bath closet. Tastefully decorated throughout and very clean! All rooms on water side have large windows or door walls to outside to enjoy the great view! The deck is fabulous with dining area and super comfortable lounging area perfect for relaxing with some wine from one of the many area wineries. In fact there are several nearby within 5-10 min drive. The beach, although not deep is wide and private. Sandy beach but stony into water. Water shoes, no problem! Lots of pretty stones to find. Since you are on East Traverse Bay the water temp was actually nice. Our two year old granddaughter loved it along with her golden retriever! Water pretty calm, but we even enjoyed the view when a storm rolled in and the waves got big! We had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay- even a box of toys in the large bonus/family room that has 3 Murphy beds and large sectional couch with large flat screen tv. So much to do and see around this area but you will be very happy if you never even venture out of this little slice of Up north heaven! Owner great to work with and answered all questions promptly. We would definitely rent this place again.

Bautiful waterfront view

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 3 night stay in June. The house was very spacious for the six of us, would definitely accomodate more people comfortably. We spent countless hours, day and night entertaining on the deck and enjoying the gourgeous bay view. The house interior was very clean and newly looking. Most rooms with plenty of natural light and waterview. Overall, the place is better than what I expected from the pictures. We had been to Traverse city area about 6 times and I cannot think of a nicer location - Old Mission has great sightseeing, the beatiful Haserot beach, great restaurants and it's a short drive to downtown. All my communication with the owner Steve was through emails and he was always very timely and nice. For what it offers I think it's priced right and I would certainly consider coming back next year (I already recommended to close friends).
