The home is nestled between the beach and the Mokuleia forest in Waialua. It is tucked away quietly off the road, in a friendly beach side neighborhood. The private walk way leading to the entrance is lined with plants as well as the whole property being surrounded by beautiful foliage. The home has an open and spacious living and dining area, which is perfect for family gatherings. The decor has an old Hawaiian charm, with raton furnishings and tropical fabrics, it is comfortable and casual. The home has all the amenities a family would need while on holiday. It has a fully stocked kitchen along with coffee maker, microwave oven and a large refrigerator. Enjoy your meals at the large dining table or go downstairs for an Al fresco meal at the large patio table. The Honu Hale has plenty of natural light and catches a good trade wind breeze when the windows are open. All three bedrooms have a/c units if you prefer instead. The living room has a large flat screen tv with cable and there is free high-speed WiFi to help you stay connected. All three bedrooms have new linens and comfortable mattresses(2 queen size, 1 full size). The master and one of the guest rooms both have flat screen TVs with cable. The two bathrooms are clean and well stocked with fresh white towels. The Honu Hale has it's own assigned, covered parking. Just a flight of stairs away from the front door, a big plus when loading your beach gear! This hideaway gem also has access to a full size washer and dryer downstairs. You can pack light and save room in your luggage for souvenirs! Complete access to the beach gear room, which hosts bicycles, snorkel gear and other beach accessories. Also there is a baby crib provided upon request. The Honu Hale is next to a quaint 1/1 vacation rental. Check out property number 479843 if you find yourself needing a separate place for family or friends.
From the Honu Hale, it is a very short walk to a quiet local beach park. Aweoweo Beach park has a lot to offer. It has restrooms, outdoor showers and a playground. So much and so close! Don't be surprised if you find that you have the beach all to yourself during certain times of the day. The beach also houses a nest of sea turtles that you can see better up close while snorkeling. This beach is a great place for swimming year around due to the coral barrier. This beach is a safe and a beautiful place for a romantic late night stroll. When you are ready to go to town, Haleiwa is just a quick 5 minute drive. This historic town is lined with quaint shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The town also has a handful of food trucks that offer plenty of good eats with local flavor. A little farther up the road is the famous North Shore. In the winter months you will see the awesome crashing waves, known as the seven mile miracle of surfing!!
The Honu Hale is in a wonderful location. It puts you in the middle of it all yet lets you feel as though you are away from it all. Come and relax in it's old Hawaiian charm.
We enjoyed our stay at the home and have provided the listing information to my fellow employees as a rental for the Oahu area. I passed the information on for both business and pleasure.
We really enjoyed staying at this house. It was well stocked with the essentials including the kitchen. We liked the location to the beach, and enjoyed the BBQ several nights. Neighborhood is generally quiet. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of towels, although we did use the laundry facilities to stay caught up. :) We really enjoyed the nearby town of Halewia. Cute stores and great shaved ice. Highly recommend the paddle board rental by the bridge. Great fun, reasonably priced and free shaved ice! Our adult kids loved the coffee shop and the local food trucks. Definitely shop for groceries at Malama Market. Of course we made a Costco run the first day. :) Also enjoyed the Farmers Markets, Ted's Bakery, Sunset Beach, Weimeia Beach and the Farmers market on Thursday's, and the Big Wave shrimp truck. My only wish in reference to the house, is that the air conditioners in the back bedrooms weren't quite so loud, and there was A/C in the main living area. And the ceiling fan in the living room worked without the ceiling light needing to be on. Lastly, the white cutting board in the cupboard should not be used as it's desinegrating. And foil and Saran Wrap would have been lovely. :)
I would definitely recommend this house and Briann was available when needed and did a great job communicating throughout the whole process! Really 4.5 stars!
The house was very clean and well prepared for us. There were helpful pamplets on the coffee table that were helpful to read. There was chairs and snorkels and all kinds of stuff to help us get the most of out stay. We just didn't find the beach by us as soon as we should of. it always seems rough and choppy but going west a little and getting out in it when the tide was low was fantastic. we snorkeled and seen fish and turtles and it was great. Walking on the beach in the mornings was gorgeous. We really had fun and enjoyed everything. We just wished we had a couple of more days to enjoy. Hopefully next time!
This property is a little Gem. Its in a great location - walking distance to a gorgeous beach (with turtles) and only a 5 minute drive to the nearest shops.
It's perfect for those who just need somewhere to sleep and want to spend their days exploring the North Shore and all its beauty.
There are a lot of holidays houses in the area and they have a strict no noise policy after 10pm. We found out the hard way. If you like a drink and to play some tunes past 10pm this isn't the place for you. Even with all the doors and windows closed the sound still carries so take this into consideration. We were lucky to have friends staying down the road in a large home which let us stay up to all hours without any problems.
The property provides so much in the way of beach towels, amazing beach chairs, bikes, snorkel gear - truly generous the amount of extras provided.
The only downside are the really old air-conditioners in the bedrooms. They are very loud but we got used to the noise after a few nights.
All in all good value for money and a great little spot.
We loved this home as we entertained our daughter and her 2 friends. 5 adults easily fit in this apartment, 6 would work also. It was great having 2 full baths. The unit is clean and well stocked. The refrigerator is large and met all of our needs as we prepared most of our own meals. The BBQ was a great asset! It is in a very safe neighborhood with an easy, close walk to the beach about 2 blocks away. We saw beautiful sea turtles right there in the surf. There is an outdoor closet stocked with everything you would possibly need for the beach, snorkels, fins, masks and even bicycles. We rode all the way to Haliewa which is a quaint town with all kinds of shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Loved being away from the maddening crowd in Honolulu. We would definitely stay here again! The owner was wonderful to work with and quick to answer any questions we had.
Honu Hale was the perfect north shore beach home for our family of 5 adults. It was comfortable, clean and well-stocked! Loved the neighborhood, quick walk to the beautiful beach, proximity to Haliewa! Picked up some ono grindz at the Waialua General Store and Waialua Fresh (homemade ice cream sandwiches!) Even saw the 2016 Eddie Aikau during our stay! Next time we will make use of all the bikes and gear in the shed!
We arrived late at night, and were glad of the clear address markings as our GPS seemed confused! This unit is in a very quiet neighbourhood, and we found it spotless with very comfortable beds. The A/C in the master bedroom didn't seem to do much, so we used the ceiling fan and open window instead; we didn't mention it to the owner until we left and he promised to look at it. Towels and linens were great. The kitchen had everything we needed with a great ice maker in the large fridge/freezer and dishwasher was a nice convenience. The BBQ was very clean and we did use it a few times, but mostly ate our dinners from the food trucks located about 10 minutes' drive away in the quaint surfing town of Hale'iwa, which also has a small grocery store and several tourist shops and restaurants. There is a beach just a short walk away, but we only went once, but we did see turtles. We loved driving up the north coast to watch the surfers and went to various beaches. Then we found a great spot just past "army beach", almost where the westbound road ends. Sitting on that beach at the end of the runway, we watched gliders land and parachute jumpers in one direction while watching the waves come in the other. The unit had almost all our beach needs, and the owner seems to have taken our suggestions to heart and added bicycles and snorkel equipment since we left. Would recommend the unit for up to 4 adults + 1 or 2 kids sharing the 3rd bedroom, which is very small so might not be comfortable for 3 couples. Communication before we arrived was very clear. Would recommend the unit to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway. Car is a must and parking could accommodate 2 compact cars if needed.
Waialua is full of activities. Skydiving, snorkeling, surfing, swimming, hiking/walking, and even beach side polo matches. Kaena point albatross refuge and monk seal viewing is a highlight. Sunset catamaran rides or if in season the whale watching tour is amazing. There is something for everyone on the north shore.
