About Bruce Janssen

Bruce and Jodie Janssen have lived in Boyne City for forty years and are the proprietors of The Wood Shop, an award winning sign company. Active in the city's Main Street Program and various other civic endeavors they have taken a great interest in their adopted hometown and want those who visit to enjoy it as much as they have over the years.

Bruce Janssen purchased this house in 1986

Why Bruce Janssen chose Boyne City

In 1986, Bruce's parents purchased this lovely home as a summer home. Both parents have passed on and the home is now being used as a family retreat when it is not being rented and shared with others.

What makes this house unique

This is a lovely, solidly built home which was renovated in 2011. Ranch style with a hint of Mission styling, the home has a mix of hardwood, tiled and carpeted floors throughout. The kitchen is perfect for entertaining with its open floor plan and includes all cooking utensils, large refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher. A large screen television in the spacious living room can be used to watch movies while lounging in the great recliner sectional sofa or you can watch your favorite cable and network shows via the DirectTV satellite. Downstairs is roomy enough for games or just hanging out. The house is quite cozy with water baseboard heat throughout and air conditioned for those occasional too warm summer days. You can start your day with a cup of coffee watching the sun come up in the east over the valley or end the day with a drink while sitting on the deck. Any way you choose, this house has a great ambience and you won't regret spending your vacation here.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas at this house and thought it was wonderful. Bruce had even put up an artificial Christmas tree and hung lights by the front door. Very thoughtful. The house had everything we needed. We got lots of snow during the week and Janssens were there to plow the driveway early every day so we weren't snowed in. This is such a lovely area of Michigan. We would definitely be open to coming back.

Great Home to lease

  • 5 of 5

All my friends were so impressed with your home on Wildwood Dr. Thank you very much for the great accommodations. Tried to find your business in Boyne City so I could say hello, but ran out of time because of my "to do" list. Thanks again Bill Rieman

This is our 2nd visit, and it was just as good as the first. When we arrived the house was in great condition. Everything was clean and stocked for our stay. The property that the house sits on is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! The trails are great for long walk or run, and the yard has plenty of room for any lawn game you would like to play. Bruce is a very gracious host and made sure that we had the best stay possible. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful spot to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautiful, spacious, with some great amenities. Plus Bruce is a really friendly and attentive host. I stayed here with 10 friends (including 4 couples) and a 2 year-old. Sleeping arrangements were more than adequate, there was plenty of common space, and we cooked most meals in the home. The back porch was beautiful, overlooking many acres of meadows with walking trails. We used the grill, played sports on the grass, and played a ton of ping pong in the garage. A lovely little spot of sand on Lake Charlevoix was only a 6-minute drive away. The grocery store was only 4 minutes away. We had everything we needed, and Bruce quickly answered any questions we had. I would love to come back.

Beautiful well cared for property and home. Just what we needed. Large enough for a crowd

  • 5 of 5

We had the perfect sisters get-away. Quiet and peaceful. But close enough to whatever you need. Over the top kitchen for making meals. We only ate out once and had take-out the last night. Bird watching out the huge windows was perfect. Large comfortable bedrooms. A well-loved family property for sure. Thanks for the wonderful stay. Exceeded every expectation. Close to golf and activities for the husbands.
