Extremely Dissapointed!.... Deb K.

Do not rent this property!! It is not ready for renters!! The rental has a lot of potential .. but lacking many basic necessities. The inside was clean, no complaints there. The outside grounds were dirty and neglected. Upon arrival we were met with the sight of 3 overflowing bug invested trash cans in the driveway and paper trash items on the front lawn by the front door. The pool needed cleaning ( no vacuum available just a net). The pool lounge chairs and couch were dirty and old. The grill was small old and dirty, with no cooking or cleaning utensils. There was a soda bottle full of cigarette butts. The pool, yard and grounds, all in a general need of a good cleaning raking and sweeping. All plants and foliage were dry, dead or neglected. The inside electrical work was substandard and I question the rental would pass an inspection. The outlets were sparse ( only one in the kitchen for all appliances located over the kitchen sink) and some were not working. There were also bugs crawling around on the floor near the only outlet in the living room. There were not enough dishes, particularly glasses. I took pictures and sent a message to the number that initiated contact with us earlier. This was 4:30 Thursday, Our response was filled with excuses lacking any apologies. To our complete surprise the cigarette butts were said to be from the tenants in the alley studio apt on the left side of the house?! This property was rented as a private house listing, not as s shared experience?!!. Arrangements were made for a handyman to come the next day at Noon! He said an electrical breaker was off ( the problem source for outlets ) Also said the living room outlet never worked!! He did some front yard raking, left some grill utensils, drinking glasses, and took away 2 of the trash cans, leaving a third one that was Still! full of trash. We cleaned the pool and pool area ourselves the best we could with the net and a broom, washed the newer looking table and chairs and swept the pool area so we could feel comfortable to use it. We soon realized there were no extra pillows, only one blanket, property was advertised to sleep 13.... 8 people is more like it. The jacuzzi had limited amounts of hot water available to it. The laundry room was substandard neglected and dirty. When needing to dry towels we discovered that there was no outlet to plug in the dryer!! We messaged again but did not recieve any more communication!! Extremely dissapointed .

Disappointing

The home was lovely until you really start looking around. This is an older home that has been added onto. You can tell that the owner is trying to update but it still needs alot of work. The kitchen could really use some updates. The kitchen counter or maybe you could call it a bar was painted white but it was a really sloppy painting job. They painted around the handles but didn't paint behind the handle so you could see The original wood. Just didn't look like they were finished painting. The laundry room was very dark and a little creepy. It had a pull chain for the light. The dryer didn't even have an outlet to pull it into. Eventually they let us know that there was another washer and dryer outside behind a padlock storage.

The home details state it sleeps 13 but there was not enough bedding for 13. There was bedding enough to sleep 9. There was no extra pillows or blankets. They also said there was an air mattress no mattress was found. We did ask for more bedding and that was brought to us late the first night. But we could not use the air mattress because they didn't bring an air pump. The list goes on and on.

The biggest disappointment was being asked to leave the home for a few hours each day because they failed their inspection for have the home approved for a rental. The smoke detectors were not interconnected which means when one goes off they all should go off. That did not work. Because they kept failing the inspection they requested the electrician to come but he could only come late at night 10:00pm. He showed up at 10:30 pm. We could not go to bed because the smoke detectors were in the bedrooms. He was at the home until 1:10am. And we had to be up and packed and have the home cleaned for check out. We were getting on a cruise ship that morning and had an hr drive to Miami.

They continued to have different handyman coming into the home while we were out. They home was not ready to be rented out and shouldn't have been rented.

Annemarie was our contact while staying at the home. I do feel she did try to help us and get the things we needed. Unfortunately she had to deal with all the messes of the inspection that was out of her hands. The owner should take 100% responsibilty for that. It shouldn't have been listed to rent.

I will say that once all the remodeling/updating has been completed this will be a very nice home and I would consider staying there again. It's in a good location for the beach and other activities.
