About Mrs Sonia

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

The pictures are exactly what you get. The location is absolutely perfect, the bed is really comfortable after a busy day of touring, and Sonia is friendly and helpful. Walking to the italian school next door was so nice as well. The terrace was rare and unique. If we ever have the chance to return to Lucca, THIS is where we will stay. Thanks Sonia! Great trip.

Just as described on the website

Loved our 10 night stay at this lovely apartment. Mrs Sonia met us at the address as previously arranged and took us over the apartment and assured us she would be on hand if we had any queries/problems. One of the main reasons we booked Casa Diamante was for the outdoor terrace which was well used also the lift which we used regularly after spending most of the day on our feet exploring.

The apartment was very well fitted out with everything we needed (particularly the washing machine) but we could only watch Italian speaking tv shows at night which was a tiny letdown. There was a fully equipped kitchen which was rarely, other than breakfast, used. The bed was extremely comfortable and the couch in the living room was great.

Our only complaints (2) were 1/. the air conditioning was extremely loud and not efficient at all and we ended up opening all doors/windows at night time to allow some cool air in. But, by doing so, let lots of insects in including mosquitoes so take insect repellent with you as you will need it. If the a/c is replaced it would be marvellous. 2/. Obviously the apartment is in a very old building and we understand the implications of this but sadly the flushing system of the toilet was not good and we had to have a saucepan of water nearby to flush when it failed. Not a great problem though.

These are our only negatives as there were so many positive. There are so many ristorante's nearby, a supermarket not far away, directly opposite the wall for easy access for walking/bike riding and the apartment is in a quiet residential area so other than Saturday nights, it is quiet at bedtime.

All in all, we would not hesitate to recommend this lovely apartment (especially if the a/c is replaced as it is quite old).

Small attic apartment in a quiet location

  • 3 of 5

Listing on HomeAway was fairly accurate apart from the manager requested cash payment when in fact it stated payment by MasterCard - we would have preferred using this method as it safeguarded our money. The property was clean apart from the balcony area which needed attention prior to our arrival. The toilet seat was hung on 1 hinge which we reported but was told to get a plumber (hardly a request to a British visitor in a small Italian town when we were only there for 7 nights). Obviously we didn't and the seat was not

repaired by the time we left. The washing machine was archaic so we washed everything by hand and hung them on the washing stand outside on the balcony, it would be helpful to have instructions in English for this machine, for non-Italian speakers. We saw the manager after a brief introduction handing over the keys for the apartment (it took us several attempts to open the front door after she left us to our own devices).

Lucca is a perfect destination to visit, but this apartment wouldn't entice us back.

Anyone tall - this apartment is not for you!

A cosy apartment with a charming terrace in Lucca

  • 5 of 5

This apartment on Corso Garibaldi is a delight. Located in a completely renovated historic building located just steps away from Lucca's famous main plaza Napoleone inside the walls of Lucca, it was a great place for my walking vacation of old Lucca. The kitchen is well equipped and well lit, with a big window. The bed is large and has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the roofs. The living room is fairly small but feels cozy and also has floor to ceiling windows that open onto the terrace. The sounds of the doves also were very calming. The lobby area of the building is painted with beautiful frescos. I felt like I was in an old castle, but without all the discomforts of a castle! The property was very clean and well equipped. The owner was completely accommodating and responsive in every way. She offered many suggestions of interesting things to explore while inside the walls of Lucca. There is a good local restaurant just down the cobblestones, called Gigi's Trattoria. I went there the first night and again later, and felt warmly welcomed back into Lucca. They sometimes have music. Just around the corner from the apartment , on the left side of the street, is an interesting art gallery with a very nice artist owner who speaks English and told me about the art scene of Lucca. The best gelato in Lucca can be found nearby on Piazza San Francesco, and the contemporary art museum, opened in 2009, is also in that location. It is unusual to find such a high level of contemporary art in an old city like Lucca, and they have done a good job of the installation of art works. One of the most complete collections of children's literature is located at the end of the street in one of Lucca's most famous villas. This is in an area of Lucca that allows only residents to park their cars, however, for those who have cars, there is a public parking lot right over the corner from the apartment. I loved my stay here and recommend it to anyone who wants to be centrally located to explore the historic area of the city.

Apartment with terrace in central Lucca location

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay at the Diamante apartment. The flat contained everything that we needed for a stay of nine days.

For us, Lucca is a walking city and the Diamante is ideally located just off Corso Garibaldi. There is so much going on in Lucca that it is hard to keep up. For example, a few weeks before we arrived they opened a new (and excellent) restaurant just a couple of blocks away. There are many other good places to eat in the neighborhood and for groceries there is a new grocery store selling home made Lasagne and the famous Tordelli just around the corner. We discovered that the daughter of a famous Italian singer lives in the same building, right below the Diamante. We loved our stay at this apartment, Mrs Sonia made everything easy from start. Any question was quickly attended to. We will be back
