About Guillermo Suescum

Our very first vacation together was to Granada and we both fell in love with the city and wanted to make a home for ourselves there. Our dream is that in a few years we can begin spending at least half the year in Granada, soaking up the culture, the sun and the warmth of the Nicaraguan people. We hope that when you come and stay in Casa Blanca you fall in love with Granada too.

Why Guillermo Suescum chose Granada

This is really a special place. It was built in the 1750s and is one of the oldest buildings in Granada. It underwent a 3-year restoration to bring it back to it's original splendor. The house has original floors, ceilings and doors dating back to it's construction along with all the modern amenities one would need.

What makes this villa unique

Centrally located. Just one block off the main park. Casa Blanca is tucked in behind the town's main cathedral and on Granada's main pedestrian street and restaurant row, Calle Calzada. The house has the traditional colonial design with a central courtyard full of beautiful tropical plants and a deep and cool 40 ft long swimming pool. Once you step into the house, you're in your own little private paradise.

A lovely oasis

  • 5 of 5

Brought my family (ages 8 to 65) to Granada for the infamous 3 month stamp one requires for long term stays in Costa Rica. We had heard mixed stories of Granada, but once I found this house on VRBO I knew the town was worth the gamble.

Got here late and the patient security guard was here to let us in. There was a collective dropping of jaws as soon as we walked in.... yup, even for the 8 year old. Swimming pool a huge draw even though it looked too pretty to use. Very clean and functional, and the ornamental frog water fountains a big hit.

The beds were all reported to be comfy by my gang. We have not seen much of the housekeeper Guadeloupe since it's the weekend, but she is going to cook us breakfast today before we leave so that will be a treat.

Overall, yes I am happy we came! Granada can have an edgy feel, but we never felt threatened or harassed. And this gorgeous, beautifully restored home is the hug you might need after a busy day of exploring.

Beautiful Grand Colonial House with a Home feeling.

  • 5 of 5

Your first in presstion is so amazing as you step into the Casa, the photo really don't do then justice but you will not be disappointed.

The house is right on the Calzada which may worry some on the noise. We enjoyed the live music and the noise level was very good also the church bells ring did not cause much noise either.

We would definitely recommend this house and would defiantly stay again. The owners are amazing with any issues you may have and the GPS rental office is right across the street. They are wonderful also with anything you need help with.

Fantastic space!

  • 5 of 5

This space is absolutely stunning! We (a group of nine friends) really enjoyed our stay here, spending the mornings relaxing at the villa...nothing more relaxing than waking up and jumping right into the pool or lounging around in the hammock. We also really enjoyed how central the place is to everything and the assistance of Elizabeth, who helps Guillermo manage the property. She was able to assist us with booking transport from the airport and other day-trips that we decided to do. Guillermo also has a wonderful, well thought-out list of things to do/eat that was shared after booking the place, which was extremely useful. Overall, things were so easy and Guillermo was wonderful to work with! I think the only downfall of this house is that a couple of the rooms can be a bit noisy at night, as you get some of the foot traffic that goes by, on the way to a nearby club. I was only bothered by this as I fell asleep, but the street sounds can be drowned out pretty well by the fan. Otherwise, everything was perfect and is even better than what the pictures depict!

This was my second time staying at Casa Blanca. This time I brought 5 of my high school friends to introduce them to a country I love.(We have known each other for almost 60 years) The house was every bit as wonderful this time as last. What better way to wake up than with a swim in the pool, or to cool off after an afternoon of sight-seeing or just wandering around Granada? The staff is pleasant and helpful; the house has just the right mix of elegance and homey comfort; the location is perfect; Elizabeth, the contact person from GPS, the management company, was very helpful. There are enough nearby restaurants to try some place new every meal and not be disappointed. Casa Blanca is truly a treasure, a wonderful gateway to exploring a country that is just on the cusp of tourism.

Drawn by year-round warm weather, colonial-era architecture and the freshwater Lake Nicaragua, travelers from around the world are flocking to Granada. Eco-tourists will love visiting the dormant Mombacho volcano, sailing on the lake and ziplining through the trees. Fans of spa treatments and shopping will find plenty to do, too.

Nicaragua travel tops the New York Times’ best in travel for 2013. Ranked third out of forty-six select destinations, Nicaragua made it to the top of the list. Nicaragua is a country of thriving culture, history, wildlife and boasts a landscape dominated by pristine rainforest and miles & miles of serene sandy shoreline. Its avenue of volcanoes is stunning and protected by national parks. Conscious of their natural treasures, “eco” is both practiced and preached in Nicaragua. Nicaragua Lake is vast; it rivals that of Lake Titicaca in its beauty and grandeur. The lake’s Ometepe Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. It is composed of two volcanoes and an isthmus that connects them. Hiking here is a must. Beyond its natural features, Nicaragua’s nicest colonial city, Granada, offers great dining, exquisite cathedrals and museums from the Spanish era.
