Come visit the sleepy little town of Neskowin and stay at this charming, laid-back one bedroom cottage. You and your family can spend relaxing days lounging out on the wrap-around deck, walking down to the beach, and enjoying the slower pace of life on the Oregon coast.
Enter through a vintage blue door and into the homey and open living room, dining room, and kitchen area. There are tall, slanted wood ceilings, comfortable furniture, and a wood burning fireplace to keep you warm and toasty on chilly coast nights. Just pop the popcorn and gather the family around for a night of board games or watching DVDs. There's even a DVD library if you forget to pack your favorites from home.
The cheery and eclectic kitchen is well-stocked with a refrigerator, oven and stovetop, microwave, tea kettle, and coffeemaker -- everything you need to enjoy a great meal. There isn't a dishwasher but hey, even doing dishes can be fun when you're on vacation!
You can savor your meals on a one-of-a-kind bottle-cap mosaic table designed by the owner and her grandchildren! The dining room area also has large picture windows for great views of the scenic, quiet neighborhood. There's also a breakfast bar with four stools for grabbing a quick bite to eat in the morning before heading out for a day of coastal adventures.
The bedroom has a queen sized bed, reading lamps, and cozy bedding. A twin rollaway bed is stored in the closet, and can easily be set up in the living room by the full-sized sofa bed. Two adults and up to three children can very comfortably enjoy this family getaway. You'll even find an outdoor shower so you can rinse your feet clean after a day at the beach!
The bathroom is bright and colorful, with handmade tiles and custom artwork. A roomy bathtub is the perfect size for a relaxing bubble bath: just lay back, have a glass of wine, and admire the bathroom's crafty charm. Right across from the bathroom is a high efficiency washer and dryer so you can keep everyone in clean and warm socks after a day playing in the sand.
As cute and quirky as the inside of this delightful cottage is, you'll find yourself spending a lot of time outside! Right out the door is a wonderful deck with comfy chairs, a picnic table, and fire pit for toasting marshmallows. There's also a quirky birdhouse collection and lots of lush green grass for kids. The fenced back yard is a very nice place to turn the kids loose to explore and play while preparing dinner on the gas grill. You'll find that this laid back community is really all about family fun. After dinner, head out on a walk around the neighborhood or spend the afternoons riding bikes down the quiet, residential streets.
If you take a stroll just two blocks west, you'll find yourself on the peaceful, uncrowded beach with miles and miles of coast to explore. Take your shoes and socks off and walk along the surf while you hunt for shells and pieces of agate. For golfers, the Neskowin Golf Course is mere blocks from the house, and for art lovers, the Hawk Creek Gallery is also nearby.
Many other shopping, entertainment, and dining options are plentiful in the nearby towns of Pacific City, about 15 minutes north and Lincoln City, 20 minutes to the south. Back in Neskowin, local favorite Hawk Creek Cafe is re-opening in July 2013 and located only blocks from the house. Darrs Beach Cottage is a special home base for enjoying this unassuming little beach town, perfect to help you slow down and enjoy some time together as a family!

My husband and I had a nice, quiet weekend at this one bedroom home. Convenient to the beach and the small store in Neskowin. The house was very comfortable, except for being chilly on a foggy morning--would have been nice to know the heat is set at 65 degrees and can't be changed. It had the basics for eating in, though no wi-fi. A nice place for a beach getaway.
My kids & i enjoyed our trip the house was fine but i would not stay in it again just seemed like they didnt put any money or time back into the house to make it nice for guests!
We enjoyed three days in Neskowin. The beach is so beautiful and the neighborhood is charming and fun to explore. The house was comfortable and fit our family of five nicely. We liked the large back deck and the yard, too. The house and furnishings are older and quirky. The life-size hanging pirate was a bit much but we got used to it!
We really enjoyed our stay at the beach cottage. It is a nice quiet house with a good sized fenced yard. There is a large deck and a fire pit in the back yard. The house is nicely furnished and has most everything in the kitchen you would need to prepare meals. There is a good choice for seating in the living room and the bedroom is a comfortable size. The bed was very comfortable, better than any hotel bed we have slept in. The walk to the beach was easy and the beach access was close. It was a very nice stretch of beach with very few people on it.
There were a few issues we brought up with Vacasa, but they were very prompt to return our calls and took our concerns very seriously.
Overall, we greatly enjoyed this house and the town. We would greatly recommend it.
There is a general store and deli nearby. The prices for groceries was a bit high, but the take and bake pizza was reasonably priced and very good. They close at 8:00pm, so try to remember to plan around that. Lincoln City has a couple choices for grocery stores, so they are a better bet as far as choice and price.
We enjoyed our stay in this house. It was nice to be so close to the beach and in such a nice, quiet town. Everyone we came talked to was very nice and there were some good choices at the store/deli around the corner. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and most everything else needed to prepare and cook food. The town was close to other tourist areas, but at the end of the day, we were very happy to come back to the house and little town.
This cottage was very interesting. Very eclectic and artsy in its own way. The pirate in the main room was a little scary to the children who slept out there. The pictures in the ad make it look like a rope swing for fun, but it wasn't. I enjoyed the pirate story history, which the owners had typed up. The beach was close and just wonderful for finding shells, going into the water and jogging the long stretch. The neighborhood was just wonderful with many flowers and even deer that came to visit. The backyard was spacious with a fire pit and again very interesting with knicknacks and mature foliage on the plants.
I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone without preparing them for what they might find. Also, the bedding was so worn it was difficult to tell how clean they were. The kitchen had little to no spices, oils etc. Be prepared to bring everything. It did have enough cooking pans, baking items and utensils.
