Overview

Guanacaste House Rental Photos and Description

Newly renovated 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath vacation home sleeps 8-10

A newly renovated house located above a very private beach, Coco Flotante offers comfortable, elegant indoor and outdoor living spaces and magnificent ocean views.

Ocean breezes and the sound of surf fills a house that offers spectacular sunset views from every room. Eight to ten people can stay here very comfortably, but smaller groups will also find the home's intimate spaces welcoming and well-proportioned. The first floor offers two private master suites with king beds and en suite baths, plus a living room with TV, a well equipped kitchen, and a laundry room. On the second floor, a beautifully appointed bedroom with queen bed enjoys its own private floor-to-ceiling ocean views and shares a double vanity bath with the spacious twin bedroom down the hall. The bar and spacious lounge is ideal for watching sunsets.

The heart of the house is its beautifully landscaped outdoor living space, with large open air dining table, hammocks, ranchero, and intimate sitting areas just outside both of the two first-floor master suites. Relax in the infinity pool, nap in a lounge chair with palms rustling overhead, or retreat with drink in hand to a comfortable chair under the shade of the ranchero when the sun is strong.

The location is nothing short of spectacular, with unimpeded views of the Pacific and direct access to two beautiful beaches, which offer sand, surf, snorkeling, and a distinct lack of crowds.

Located little more than an hour from the airport in Liberia, or forty-five minutes from either Tamarindo or Santa Cruz, the village of Junquillal is easily accessible but not overly developed. You won’t find nightclubs and streets lined with shopping here, but if you’re looking for a laid-back, quiet, authentic setting with easy access to all kinds of options, you’ll love it. There are several excellent restaurants in the immediate area. Local tour guides can arrange horseback, zip line, or jungle river tours; and hiking, caving, birding, mountain biking, scuba diving, or deep sea fishing adventures. Just two miles to the north (a half hour walk on the beach) is the world class surf of Playa Negra. Surfing and stand-up paddleboarding lessons and estuary tours are readily available.

A five minute walk brings you to the long, flat expanse of Playa Junquillal and its Turtle Nesting Sanctuary, which has received global recognition. From the lawn of Coco Flotante watch for low tide at Playa Blanca and you’re only two minutes away from fantastic snorkeling. Palo Verde National Park is one hour from the house and Rincon National Park is two. One of Costa Rica’s finest golf courses is located a half-hour away at the luxurious Hacienda Pinilla.

The Spanish-speaking caretakers who live on the premises are friendly and attentive. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Just returned from a stay in June 2016 .

  • 5 of 5

I have traveled to Costa Rica many times and this home is the nicest one I have stayed in by far.The house and the view is spectacular and every bedroom in the home is like a master suite. The view from the second floor is incredible and we saw many beautiful sunsets every night. We had howler monkeys visit the property and there were hundreds of butterflies of all different colors. The house is very well kept up and was cleaned everyday to perfection. There are wonderful beaches and restaurant's near by but we were also happy to have pizza delivered and just stay at the house because it is so fabulous. Georgina was a pleasure to work with and was available anytime I called to answer questions about the area. There are caretakers who have a home and live on the property but they really come around just when things need to be done and it was very private. The only bummer I can honestly say about this house was having to leave. If you want oceanfront this is your place to stay!!

The perfect vacation in the perfect home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five and our friends (a family of four) just spent five days at Coco Flotante and even though we returned to beautiful Seattle spring weather, we are all very sad to be home! Coco Flotante is perfect in every way!

This house is the perfect location: The drive from Liberia is a quick 1 hour 20 minutes and a short drive up to Tamarindo (35 minutes) and VERY easy to get to. When you arrive, be prepared to be blown away by the beautiful and very clean house, the lovely decor and the amazing views from the spacious yard, pool and patio! The nine of us had plenty of room to spread out and even wished our friends (who had considered a last-minute trip) had joined us. There is SO MUCH ROOM in this house!

The kitchen is perfect for cooking and gathering. The kitchen is beautiful and well-stocked; there are plenty of glasses, flatware and tableware so even without a dishwasher, you won't feel like you're running out of supplies. The gas cooktop works well and the cookware is nice; I'm a kitchen snob, so this is saying something! We cooked all of our meals except for one. Plenty of cutting boards, knives, colanders, serving platters and bowls.

The pool and yard are perfect; we all enjoyed a morning coffee, an afternoon beer or an evening cocktail, sometimes apart, sometimes together and the area is so well-planned that whatever your mood, you would be accommodated. We'd relax in the hammocks, sit around the ottoman and talk, or laze in the pool to cool off. The stairway to the beach is brand-new. Morning walks to the beach were a nice bit of quiet time for the adults, or for groups of us mid-afternoon. The immediate beach area is rocky, but walking north you can hit Playa Blanca or you can walk south to Playa Junquillal. We tended to drive south to the turtle hatchery (there's also a bar there) and park so that the kids wouldn't be whining all the way back and so we could carry a cooler with drinks and snacks, but it is very walkable. The currents and tides are a little intense, but with the wide and deep sandbar, even small children can play in the waves safely. We enjoyed early mornings and late afternoon the best, resting in the middle of the day in the hammocks or in the pool.

The caretakers are perfect: Friendly and helpful and very responsive. Georgina was great to work with, friendly and responsive to any needs. Gama and Irene took great care of the house and grounds and are such sweet people. Can't wait to return!

Coco Flotante did not disappoint

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home in an even nicer location. Everything about it was perfect. Easy access to essentially four beaches, each of which was sparsely populated (almost private). We enjoyed the sunset from the pool almost every evening, cause it was too spectacular to miss, and every night was spent sitting by the pool in the gazebo area. Our kids loved the hammocks, and the grounds were beautiful. The house has all of the essential cookware and appliances for cooking your own meals and the layout allows for views of the ocean from almost every room. Had the fortune of watching a troop of monkeys move through the trees right off the back of the house one evening (right about sunset). The restaurants close by were all very good and their service was excellent. Zip lining at Pura Aventura was one of the highlights of the trip...the guides were all so friendly and seemed to enjoy the experience as much as we did. SUP'ing through the local mangrove Estuary with Javier was also a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to release baby turtles on Playa Junquillal - none hatched while we were there - so I suppose we will have to do that on our next visit. Housekeepers were both great, and the property manager, Georgina, provided great recommendations of things to enjoy. In fact, there were several activities that we wanted to do but ran out of time, another reason to go back.

Will definitely stay at Coco Flotante during our next visit to CR. Pura Vida!

Can't say enough about this villa. It was perfect for our family of ten (ages 12 - 78). Everyone was thrilled - so beautiful, better than the pictures show. We all loved Georgina, the property manager. She even arranged for a birthday cake when my kids made this request to celebrate my birthday. We rented two cars to give us flexibility. We'd come back in a heartbeat. Housekeepers were also lovely.

Costa Rica Paradise

  • 4 of 5

I said paradise and then gave it four stars. The location is great, if you are looking for some quite times. You have diversity of beaches, some rocky and some beautiful black sand beaches just a short walk. You can surf, catch fish, snorkel, you name it. The house has fantastic views. Not much night life (but we were not looking for any). Tamarindo is about 40 minute ride, great supermarket in the town and some good restaurants. In Paraiso, about 5 minute drive has some great local restaurant, good food good value. There is Para adventures for horseback riding, Zip lining and mountain biking just outside of Paraiso. For white water rafting or hiking it will be about a 2 hour drive, not hard just interesting Costa Rican country side. The house will get new stairs to the beach, the old ones were difficult. The house also could use an ice maker or new ice trays (old ones are cracked) ice is very important in this climate. The master bedroom lacks any closet or armoire, living out of a suit case for a week is truly inconvenient. We are a family that likes to cook, so not to have an oven was a little trouble but we then transitioned everything to the outside grill. Washing dishes three times a day started to get old, thankfully they have two sinks so it ended up being a dish wash competition, but a vacation home should have a dishwasher. By the end of the week we were climatized but an AC in the upstairs sitting area would have made that area more enjoyable. The grounds were great, Gamma and Airene took care of everything. The pool was perfect as well as all the outdoor seating. Great private get away, with a fabulous view.
