About Toby Friesen

I grew up in Portland OR. I went to Portland Christian High School and PSU. I am self employed as a fitness consultant/trainer. I have 3 kids a dog and a cat. I visited long beach for the first time in 2008, and ever since it has been the go to spot for my family to go on vacation. We love finding a spot on the beach, parking the car and hanging out for the day. Bon fires are a must at least once while we are here. I love discovery trail and walk, bike and skate on it every time I visit. I currently reside in Vancouver, WA.

Toby Friesen purchased this house in 2013

Why Toby Friesen chose Long Beach Peninsula

I looked for 5 years trying to find the right house for my family and I. I wanted space, but to be near the beach. I love to cook when on vacation, so I wanted a nice kitchen. I love the look of a cabin, so the cedar siding, slate flooring, and river rock fire place spoke to me. My significant other loved the large master bath and walk in closet. The minute I saw this house I knew I had found what I had been looking for.

What makes this house unique

When I was a kid we would always go to the beach for our family vacation. Usually we would rent a house to stay in. I remember running through the homes when we first got there, exploring all the shelves, drawers, nooks and crannies for games, books, nick nacks, and treasures. I have tried to create a balance of the perfect vacation home for the adult me and kid me. It has a wonderful private and secluded feel. I love the outdoor shower and patio with hot tub, perfect for those overcast days after walking the beach. Rain or shine this is not a home you will get bored in.

Very well stocked home

  • 4 of 5

This home is very well organized and well stocked, but we didn't expect two sets of stairs going off the main floor. And with our 10 month old it would've been nice to know ahead of time so we could bring a baby gate... You'll actually need something different for the second set like the heavy log chairs from the dining room. I would say it's more geared to older kids and adults, but we were pleased to find a folding high chair in the closet and some plastic baby dishes as well. There is only one bedroom with a door so if you were there with others you might like to be warned about that... Overall we enjoyed our stay... There are many amenities including, crayons, markers, coloring books, books, games, puzzles, Wii, Nintendo64, Play Station(or Xbox I'm not sure), many movies (almost all for older children or adults), nice, easy walk to the beach, outdoor hot tub and shower, BBQ grill, fire pit(both real and propane), games in the garage, propane fireplace in the basement, and an especially nice master bath. We would've rated it a five star except for the inconvenience of the stairs with our baby and that there isn't any comfortable chairs on the main floor... The living room/family room is in the basement.

Just as expected!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great relaxing weekend! Even though it was raining most of the time during our stay there was plenty to keep us busy inside, the house was fully equipped! Outdoor shower and hot tub were great!

Will be back!

Excellent Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Clean comfortable stay! It was perfect weather while we were there, so we spent a lot of time outside. I almost wish it would have been crappy out so that we could take better advantage of all the games, video games, movies, and game room.

I had to go buy many different specific types of beers to make sure I was putting in the right style of glasses provided!

Everything was great and if I'm ever in this area again, I will be staying here. All the other reviews nail it.

You will not want to go home.

  • 5 of 5

Whatever you are looking for - this place has it: From high-end amenities like heated tile floors and a Keurig in the master bath, a seventy-inch tv in the family room and a chef's dream kitchen with every accoutrement you could want and some you didn't know you wanted (I've never seen a waffle bowl maker before); to the basic necessities like beach towels, beach chairs, and a wagon for the wood you'll take down to the beach for the sunset fire.

This place is the home you wish you had, and the owner is as organized as you wish you were. And he's thought of everything you might want or need for a relaxing vacation at the beach with your family. Games and puzzles are labeled and arranged by category (and there are two walls full of them), every drawer and shelf in the well-appointed kitchen is organized intelligently and labeled precisely so you can easily find what you need and return items to the proper location. Even the laundry detergent scoop, thoughtfully hung inside the cabinet door, is labeled.

A home manual provides instructions for use of technical equipment and details features of each room in the house. No stressing out over how to get anything to work, or not being able to find what you need. I don't know how much more relaxing and fun the owner could make this place. This place is great, although oversized, for a couple and an absolutely perfect for a family with kids. If you have kids, you'll be a hero for booking this place. No doubt about it. With a pool table, ping pong, beach toys, Wii w/ 30 games w/4 controllers, old school Nintendo 64, hot tub, outdoor shower, fire pit - how can you go wrong? You can't.

Long Beach, is a great beach town that holds all kinds of events every weekend all summer. It is very tourist friendly. The beach is so long you can always find a spot that is not crowded. Ilwaco (10 minutes from house) has a great Saturday markert that features local artists and runs all summer long. Waikiki beach (in Ilwaco) has beach concerts a couple times a month. It is beautifully located and low key. Osterville, (20 minutes from house) has a store overlooking the bay where they sell fresh oysters and beautiful homes that date back to the early 1900's.
