Among the city’s oldest, the North Side neighborhoods were laid out in 1788, and many of the buildings date from the mid-19th century and include some truly beautiful examples of Victorian architecture on tree lined streets. The ambiance and neighborliness of the Mexican War Streets attracts many people. The great green expanse of West Park, Lake Elizabeth, and walking trails, serve as a beautiful “front yard” for North Side residents and visitors. The area nestles among Pittsburgh cultural institutions like the Mattress Factory Museum, Randyland, Manchester Craftsman’s Guild, National Aviary, Andy Warhol Museum, Children’s Museum, and of course, all the attractions on the North Shore (Heinz Field, PNC Park, Carnegie Science Center, Rivers Casino, and a multitude of restaurants and bars). All within walking distance! For The Essentials: Allegheny City Market is a small grocery store and deli and only a couple blocks away. A short walk. Rite Aid Pharmacy and a Dollar Tree is in the neighborhood, a little further away, but definitely walkable. Giant Eagle (a larger chain grocery store and pharmacy) is a short car ride away. For Beer & Wine: Caruso Beer is a 2 minute walk up Palo Alto St. It’s only open from 2-7pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, so plan ahead! A Wines and Spirits store is a 5 minute drive. Cleanliness: Whilst we do a thorough professional clean between each guest stay, we kindly ask that prior to leaving, you clean and put away any dishes or kitchenware used. It is also greatly appreciated if you could put any dirty towels and linens in the washing machine and start the cycle. Laundry soap is located next to the machine. This helps us get through our cleaning process quicker and allows us to keep cleaning costs down for you and future guests.
Damage: We understand that accidents happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them as effortlessly as possible which also means better chances of having your full security deposit returned too.
Shoes: To ensure we keep the floorboards squeaky clean for our guests’ enjoyment, we have a NO shoes policy inside our home. Please leave your shoes in the tray at the front door.
Bedrooms: We’re hoping you love the thought, and attention to detail that we put in to the bedroom linens & furniture. We definitely want it to stay this way for all future guests to enjoy. For this reason, we respectfully ask you not to eat or drink in the bedrooms please.
