Fishing and Hunting
Fishing and wildlife resources at Eufaula Lake provide a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. Year-round fishing is good, but for total outdoor experience, spring and fall are the best times of the year, with excellent fishing and with some of the most spectacular scenery in the State of Oklahoma. Striped bass, large mouth bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, walleye and numerous sunfishes provide most of the sport and pan fishing success.
Project lands are open for public hunting, except for developed park areas and lands in the vicinity of the dam and other project structures. The principal game species include bobwhite quail, deer, cottontail rabbit, squirrel, duck, geese and mourning dove.
Hunting and fishing are regulated by state and federal laws, and the same licenses are required as in other parts of Oklahoma. Public hunting maps showing both Corps and State areas open for hunting are available from the Eufaula Resident Office at the dam or the Tulsa District Office.
Camping and Picnicking
Nineteen park areas have been developed by the Corps of Engineers. The State of Oklahoma maintains two park areas, including covered fishing docks, stables, nature trails, service docks, golf courses, campgrounds and air parks. An area of 110 acres is leased to the City of Eufaula for a public park. Improved access roads lead into the park areas, all of which have boat launching ramps. The major camping sites and picnic areas are furnished with restrooms, parking areas, picnic shelters, drinking water, charcoal grills and trash containers. Numerous commercial concessions around the lake provide visitors with supplies as well as dining and recreational opportunities.
Boating on the lake is in accordance with Oklahoma boating laws and Corps of Engineers regulations. Regulations governing operational requirements of boats may be obtained from the Eufaula Area Office near the dam.
We had a wonderful time!! 1 FAMILY, 2 families with kids and 2 sets of grandparents. Great price for 11(+) people to stay. If staying at hotel, we would have paid three or 4 times as much and would not have been able to be all together for eating and relaxing. Also, (except pic here) booking site unseen, we were ALL pleasantly surprised. The house was just as pictured and more. The hot water on main floor did take a bit, but it WAS working (not a problem). The downstairs bathroom, was a shower, sink and stool...all we needed! The air conditioner worked great. The beach WAS a ways from house, but we knew that going in. There is a place in Eufaula (ABS), which rents golf carts and that worked really well. We played ALL day on the water. Coffee time we all sat and enjoyed each others company & at night played games, & watched TV in the house! As others have mentioned, ants in kitchen and bugs or spiders in basement...this was not encountered during our stay. Oops, I did kill one spider, but we are in Oklahoma in the summer time and this is a home NOT a Hilton.!! The kitchen WAS stocked with all utensils, dishes, crock pot, pots and pans...lacked nothing. This had no effect on our stay, but the only ways in had stairs. Just FYI for some people.
Printed wrong check in procedures and did have to contact the owner/agent at 10:30 at night, felt horrible about the time, but call was answered immediately and problem solved!! Contacted next morning regarding other check in issues and again answered right away and all questions answered. Even sent me procedures by text!
We did have boat problems the night before leaving, as we had to figure the best way to "check out" and handle the mechanical problem, 11:00am check out was a little hairy. When we figured the cleaning people were out front, went and talked to them and we were able to set outside until our truck came back to finish loading up and leaving. The home was rented the next night, so they NEEDED to get started. Very pleasant and understanding...THANK YOU!!
The only few things that concerned me were pans lift by charcoal grill that we did NOT use, and some litter that was left by previous renters. Would DEFINITELY rent again and or recommend.
We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.
In general, an older house in the process of being updated. The top floor has no bathroom at all, yet it had the largest bedroom. There is only 1 full bathroom. The basement bathroom is oddly configured with an odd step up toilet and shower and the shower.
The hot water facet was not working in the main floor bathroom. Every time we would use the restroom you could only wash with cold water which is not very sanitary. I feel this should have been address before we arrived or during our stay. I alerted the owner within a few hours of arrival.
The overhead light for the living room and dining room (grand room) was not working, as the remote was missing.
We were constantly emptying the dehumidifier as it was very humid in the basement and much worse when the dryer was running.
The property has a portable a/c unit upstairs, very stale up there when not on. I am so glad I went upstairs well before bed time to give it a chance to air out and cool off.
We were expecting the beach to be closer than a 1/3 mile walk through wooded areas and the picture of the beach on home away was nothing like how it was when we were there. The beach were full of brush, branches etc. ok for fishing but not for swimming in the lake, sunbathing or even playing in the sand.
Additional reclining chairs were added in the basement billiards room and are in the way for playing pool.
There were ants on the kitchen counter that got in our cups and food. We were very careful to not leave any dirty dishes or food out. There were spiders throughout the house and lots of old spiderwebs especially in the basement.
It was very hard to complete the required washing drying and folding of all the towels by the normal 11am check out.
The windows in the basement were full of dead bugs and spider webs.
Be aware that the ceilings in the basement are low especially in the bunk bed rooms.
Watch out for the light fixture in the kitchen anyone over 6 foot will be hit it.
The grill is not gas, it is charcoal and down on the ground level not on the deck.
We enjoyed Jellystone park and antique/clothes shopping in Eufuala. Hard to find a sit down restaurant though. Walmart is 10-15 mins away.
Not a huge fan of the price, but there is absolutely nothing to complain about with the home and property itself. Everything was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the location is beautiful and practical for all of the activities you can think to do at a lake house. The cabinets were sell stocked with everything we could need, which says a lot because our group consists of several intense cooking professionals. There is nothing at this home that will disappoint you, I can promise you that, unless you are impossible to please.
The house interior is lovely and spacious. The furnishings are upscale. Plenty of beds. Loved it!!!!!!!!
This was a great place for a family get together of brothers and sisters from several states and their extended families. A yearly retreat of ages from 1 to 65. There was plenty of room inside and out for everyone. Was enjoyed by all.
The house is located just south of Texanna Rd off of Highway 69. The addition is Bridgeport Beach which is down the access road just past North Fork Baptist Church
