About stacey nielsen and lawrie bowles

My husband Lawrie and I currently live next door to the Frog and Fern Cottage where we raise chickens and ducks and grow many of our vegetables.

We chose to move to Quadra island 11 years ago because of its natural beauty, outdoor opportunities and warm community spirit.

stacey nielsen and lawrie bowles purchased this cottage in 2007

Why stacey nielsen and lawrie bowles chose Quathiaski Cove

When we first moved next door to the cottage we imagined the fun of renovating it to a cosy vacation get away. It has a welcoming and cosy feel that seems perfect for families, couples or groups of friends building memories.

We enjoy filling it with our own family for special occasions.

The sound of the screen door slamming and the frogs chirping speak of holiday fun.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage has a heart. Our guests tell us they feel at home as soon as they open the front door.

The warmth of the logs, the skylights and the bright décor make inside cheerful even on rainy west coast days. The forest provides a peaceful retreat full of bird song and frog chatter.

The cottage is situated in a very, very quiet location with view on the water. Inside, absolutely everything is provided and more. The whole place is welcoming and so comfortable.

Cute cabin, beautiful bathroom!

We had a great stay at Frog and Fern. Easy check in and out. Comfortable beds. Everything we needed for cooking etc. Close to everything we needed. We would definitely stay again! Cute dog next door, too 😉

Quiet and cozy.

  • 3 of 5

A quiet cozy cabin in the trees as described.

It was a pleasure to meet Stacey and Lawrie, they give us some helpful suggestions about things to do while we were on Quadra and their vegetable garden is magnificent.

Our only criticism concerned the interior of the house which we thought lacked some of the essentials that we have enjoyed in similar rental accommodation. For example, we were unable to get some of the lighting to function properly; the TV was not connected to a cable provider; there was no table-cloth or place mats. There was a lack of basic kitchen essentials, some tea bags and coffee would have been appreciated, also aluminum foil and saran wrap, soy sauce and spices. A small 'welcome basket' with some basic essentials goes a long way towards encouraging a return trip, not to mention allowing the visitors to relax a bit when they arrive. That being said, we enjoyed our stay and it was a pleasure to have a well-positioned base while we explored the island.

Cute cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Frog and Fern cottage. It was clean and cozy, has all the basic necessities you need for your stay, as well as nice additional touches for guests to enjoy such as horseshoes, puzzles, games books, etc.. The owners Stacey and Lawrie were very welcoming and friendly as well. We would definitely return.
