Owners are great to work with.
My wife & I lucked out with this VRBO rental. It's smack-dab in the middle of the action, which "obviously" made it a tad loud with night life action, but didn't once turn on the sound machines. Mere blocks from History, made this the perfect base. We walked everywhere we needed, aside from Eastern State Penitentiary, which btw, is a Must-See. Easy bus ride (#48 down Arch). We loved that the kitchen is loaded with the standard supplies one may need (like a wine opener). We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Josh was great with communication. If we're in Philly again, we'll most definitely be staying here!
The property was a great place, but parking is something to deal with.
Old City Loft
Steps away from the Delaware River waterfront, Penn’s Landing, Independence Mall, and public transportation this loft provided a perfect home base for a first time ten day trip to Philly. The space has a small well stocked kitchen with a sort of breakfast nook area. The bathroom’s water pressure is great though this is an old building and the pipes do creak and moan a bit. As you continue into the space there is a cozy one bedroom with plenty of closet space. The bed was comfortable. Then the highlight of the loft, the main living area. Spacious, airy and a lovely spot to regroup. The windows let in alot of light and you can observe the hustle and bustle of Philly’s Old City happenings. There is also an upstairs loft area where two single beds provide a good bedroom for kids if needed.
At night, especially on the weekends some of the hustle and bustle continues a bit but the owners provide a vary effective and versatile ambient noise machine.
This is the place to choose if you need a larger space in the city and want to be very close to Philadelphia’s main tourist attractions.
Some Places we loved in Philly in no particular order (but you can tell we ♥️ the food):
The Museum of the American Revolution (this is a fairly new addition and is so worth it. Immersive, informative and entertaining. Tip: Get the audio)
The Hungry Pigeon (breakfast and affogatos)
Fioré (breakfast and gelato)
The Philadelphia Museum of Art (audio not worth it but you can spend three days in here)
Philly cheese steaks and The Gremlin at Ishkabibble’s on South Street
Rittenhouse Square Park (people watching, farmers market Saturday morning)
Little Nonna’s spaghetti and meatballs
Pizzeria Beddia for mind blowing pizza and you tube/hipster watching
Betsy Ross’ House
Reading Terminal Market
Summer fireflies in the parks ( for those of us who have never seen them before)
Jazz at Sassafras
Fresh hummus and pita at Dizengoff
Brickbrat, Headhouse Books & Wellington Square
National Constitution Center
Walking and exploring the historic center
Also bring an umbrella to Philly
Stay hydrated :-)
We high-fived ourselves daily at finding this property! It is so easy to walk to Penn’s Landing and Independence Mall and other historical sites, not to mention great restaurants and bars right outside the front door. The apartment is laid out very efficiently. Josh was very easy to communicate with. We appreciated the sound machine by the beds but the street noise didn’t seem to go very late any evening. We would definitely stay here again!
We loved the location. Close to everything we wanted to see in the historical area. We would choose this place again if we ever went back. Only a couple of knocks on the location. 1. Parking was awful and expensive. You don’t really need a car if your primary goal is to stay downtown and/or public transportation takes you where you want to go. Second, the master bedroom could use a fan of some sort. It was really stuffy sleeping without air circulation...may be a personal preference but it would be a nice option to have. Otherwise, our stay was great and went off without a hitch. Thank you for a great visit!
