A world famous artist who stayed with us recently wrote this back to us..... 'For six days before Christmas, we woke up in the puffy clouds and softly colored ocean waves in the comfort of this magical space. Painted by the owner on the walls are pastel spirals, waves and seafoam with blue and yellow reef fishes rocking just below the surface. You are enveloped in an ocean wave. There are two comfortable bedrooms and a large living-dining kitchen area with fresh cross ventilation and seaward views from multiple windows. Some times there was a warm, gentle rain and the gentle clatter of bamboo stems; for all six nights the moon was overhead amidst racing clouds. It was quiet and totally private. Bring your books and your Hawaiian music CDs because you will be so comfortable that you will not run out 'go somewhere'. We made breakfast there every day and could not bring ourselves to leave the place until 10:30 or 11:00 in the morning. We made dinner there too, instead of eating out every night. Highly recommended for those who want the true Maui mood of peace amid nature.

Fabulous ocean and volcano veiws in a tropical garden with a 40 ft. salt water swimming pool, free wi-fi, washer/dryer, bbq etc.
15 miles from the airport off the road to Hana and close to cafes, shopping, beaches and waterfalls.
This property is beautiful. Great ocean views, lovely yard, great pool and our son loved the animals. There is lots to love about this property, and we would come back, but we would look at renting one of the other units perhaps.
The Hibiscus suite is a cute apartment, but we found that the amenities were slightly lacking. We had to request soap for the bathroom and the kitchen accessories need an overhaul. It would only take $200 to buy new glasses, plates, cutlery and proper cutting board. The blender is missing a lid etc.
With four rental units on the property, be sure to get clear instructions on parking as we found the rules were not clearly outlined in the written materials and then changed over the time we were there. This could be simply addressed by the owner updating the house rules in writing.
When we raised our concerns Anjali responded quickly and our concerns were addressed which is why we would come back. She is lovely.
Hopefully this is helpful. Overall a property really worth checking out especially if you have kids and have a few days to enjoy it.
It was my first trip to Hawai'i, and I wanted a nice, quiet place at which to recharge, and from which to explore other parts of Maui. I found this location through the VRBO website and was very pleased with my selection. It was an easy 25 minutes drive from Kahalui, and only 15 minutes from the small town of Paia and nice north-side beaches. The owner was very helpful on my first day in orienting me by phone, letting me know of a local grocery store in Paia and some surrounding attractions. The beaches were not busy, the water clear, with big waves (but not too big for swimming!), and some beaches are dedicated to surfing only. This location was close to the famous Mama's Fish House (I recommend booking restaurants via the Open Table app, or calling ahead, as there is always a waitlist otherwise), and an easy drive to other areas of the island. Kaanapali is only about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive from here. Very do-able on any day where it's raining in Haiku but not on the other side of the island. The property was well-kept, everything worked (plumbing, hair dryer, fridge, lights, etc), and it had the beginnings of a self-sustaining vegetable garden, and eco-friendly atmosphere. Each unit here (I think there were three guest suites, and one unit for the property manager) had its own parking space. The one-bedroom I rented was pleasantly decorated with colorful waves and fish. It fit nicely with the feel and energy of the island. And the little yurt was a good space in which to do yoga when I sorely needed some quiet, stretching time, surrounded by lots of light and a pleasant breeze. I didn't use the pool since I went to the beach each day, but it was nice to have nearby. I'd consider staying here again.
This place was SO PEACEFUL! So glad we didn't stay at the crowded & noisy resorts along the ocean.
The hostess & caretaker were very warm hearted & helpful.
Comfy bed. Birds singing every morning.
After a busy day out exploring & snorkeling this was such a restful place to come "home" to.
Unit is a bit smaller than it appears in photos.
Spendier$ than Kauai, but all of Maui was/is.
The optional 2nd bedroom may not be suitable for smaller children, as it accessible only by a door outside the main unit. We chose not to use it.
Gives you an easy early start to Hana....the road to Hana was WORTH IT! ALL the way around. :)
(Once you're there, you'll get home quicker if you keep going all the way around)
Was a 12 hour day/drive, but we stopped lots & took many photos.
The town of Paia is crowded but charming, & the Manna store in town is AMAZING! Great prices & amazing variety.
My husband and I visit Maui about every six months, and this was our first stay at Ocean Breezes. The studio was very private and comfortable, and though we missed having access to a full kitchen, were able to improvise our homemade meals pretty nicely (we tend to cook almost all our own meals, using the bounty of local fish and produce). Alex, the caretaker, is extremely nice and attentive, and available when you need him. He cracked me a few extra coconuts while we were there, and they were delicious! We had a WiFi glitch that broke down our ability to work, but Alex set about to get it fixed, and it was after a couple days (slow island-style, you can't speed things up on the Islands). I took great advantage of the yoga/meditation hut and found it to be a perfect place for my various meditation styles, and the pool was absolutely marvelous. Anyone who doesn't know the island; this is a great place to stay off the tourist grid, but close enough to Paia (Mana foods! Glorious Mana Foods!) and an easy starting point to make the entire Hana Road trip easily as it's but a few miles from the official "guidebook starting point", but it's also within an hours drive of just about anywhere else, including the more highly touristed areas and beaches. I highly recommend staying here and look forward to another trip over soon. Hopefully there will be room available. Don't miss nearby Ho'okipa beach at sunset to drink a beer and watch the turtles while you're here, it's my favorite spot for an evening wind-down.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay for our Maui vacation. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful grounds, soothing ocean breezes...I could go on and on. The Hibiscus Hideaway unit was very private and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. There's no air conditioning, but it's really not needed with the ocean breezes wafting through the windows. The owner's and the caretaker were amazing, friendly, and very helpful. We can hardly wait to come back!
We just got back from Maui and stayed at the Ocean Breezes!! I would highly recommend it. It was out of the way of all of the resorts and so it was nice and quiet. It was easy to drive to any of our destinations for the day. The pool was clean and perfect for our son who started every morning in there. The grounds were lush and there was lots of room to roam outside. The staff was friendly and always available if you had a question. We would definitely stay there again.
To get to Maui Ocean Breezes from the Kahului airport take the Hana Highway toward Paia and Hana. We are just less than 1 mile past mile marker 15. Look for the Holokai Road sign on the right side of the road. Turn left (toward the ocean) on North Holokai Road. We are on the right about 1/2 mile down the road. Look for the mailbox sitting on a stone pillar marked "240".
We are 15 miles from the Kahului Airport on the ocean side off the road to Hana. Close to famous wind surfing beaches, waterfalls, the surf town of Paia and the upcountry cowboy town of Makawao with their unique restaurants and boutiques. We are an awesome 35 mile drive from Haleakala volcano summit, 33 miles from Hana, 40 miles from Lahaina and 33 miles from Wailea/Makena.
