We are a military family of four that has called DC home for more than 10 years. Although originally from Chicago and California we consider ourselves true Washingtonians and are excited to share the city and our property with you!
Meaghan Chada purchased this house in 2001
We originally rented this property but quickly decided to purchase it because of the perfect location and proximity to everything we love in the District. We were pleased that it was on a quiet residential street, but at the same time located only steps from our favorite sights, restaurants, and the convenient Metro system. This was the first house we purchased as a married couple and our kids loved spending their early years here.
This house perfectly combines a warm neighborhood feel with the excitement and energy of the city. The location is simply ideal and offers the best of everything.
Comfortable beds, nice linens, about a 3 min walk to south capital station, on the orange blue and silver subway lines. Easy walking distance to many major attractions and quick jump on the subway to the rest. Peaceful and quiet at night although nightlife is available just down the road. We are a family of 5 and felt there was more than enough room for us. Meaghan was very helpful in quickly bringing our parking pass so we could park free of charge right in front of the house. I would definitely recommend this property for a visit to D.C.
The apartment perfectly suited our needs. Located in a row house within steps of the Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress, it was easy to get wherever we wanted to be. The Capitol South Metro station is only a couple blocks away. The neighborhood felt very safe, as there was a strong police force present given its location near the Capitol building. Surrounded by historic homes on tree-lined streets, it really is in a charming spot. Restaurants were within an easy walk, and we enjoyed the Le Bon cafe and We, the Pizza nearby. The apartment had everything we needed, and the washer and dryer were extra useful. We used Peapod grocery delivery on our arrival day for our essentials. The owners supply plenty of household products like dish soap, hand soap, trash bags, etc. There was even a hairdryer and umbrellas. While I only needed to call Meaghan, the owner, once for my own special request, she answered immediately, and was very accommodating. This is a downstairs unit, but well-lit with plenty of natural light on the main floor. There are tenants in the unit located upstairs, and you can hear them, especially when they enter or leave, but this is to be expected due to the age of the apartment. The fact that it is historic is part of the overall charm though. My only issue was with the knob lock on the door entering the apartment. It was temperamental, and required some extra effort. Overall this properly was great, I would highly recommend it, and I would stay there again.
This was my first experience staying in a vacation rental and I could not be more pleased. This property was amazing. Perfect location, tastefully decorated, and has everything you need to be comfortable during your stay. I am kind of a germ freak and was very sceptical going into this vacation. This place was extremely clean and smelled fresh. If we go back to D C this is where we'll stay and I have already recommended to a friend.
We had a great time at this property! The location is ideal and is within walking distance to everything on the National Mall. Also, it's only a quick 15 minute walk to Nationals Park if you have time to take in a game. Next time we're in DC, we'll be looking this place up!
Great location! Great location! Great location! Perfect for me, two teenage boys and my 73-year old Mom. The real question would I stay there again, and the answer is YES. I can't imagine a better place to stay when visiting DC.
The location is perfect for sightseeing. We were 6 people and were very comfortable there. Great experience. Would definitely go back again.
