About Meaghan Chada

We are a military family of four that has called DC home for more than 10 years. Although originally from Chicago and California we consider ourselves true Washingtonians and are excited to share the city and our property with you!

Meaghan Chada purchased this house in 2001

Why Meaghan Chada chose Washington DC

We originally rented this property but quickly decided to purchase it because of the perfect location and proximity to everything we love in the District. We were pleased that it was on a quiet residential street, but at the same time located only steps from our favorite sights, restaurants, and the convenient Metro system. This was the first house we purchased as a married couple and our kids loved spending their early years here.

What makes this house unique

This house perfectly combines a warm neighborhood feel with the excitement and energy of the city. The location is simply ideal and offers the best of everything.

This is the place to stay in DC!

  • 5 of 5

You have to stay in this beautiful row house! It's as exactly pictured! The beds were comfortable and ample space in the dressers and closets. Each bedroom was provided 2 sets of towels for the bathroom and were in beautiful, like-new condition. The shower was wonderful in the downstairs full bath. Don't overlook the hooks over the tub when looking for a spot to hang washcloths and towels.

The kitchen was very well appointed, along with 3 coffee samples and all the coffee condiments. We used Peapod for grocery delivery and was very pleased with the experience. If you won't be at home during one of their many delivery windows, they do offer unattended delivery. Just ask them to leave the groceries under the front porch steps.

The living room and eating area were spacious and comfortable. My only wish is if there was an ottoman in the living room that I could use as a footrest while reading the paper while sitting in the comfy chair; it could also double as another seating surface too.

The row house is in the lovely quiet and historic Capitol Hill district. There are train tracks a few blocks away and you will hear the train running around 6:20am and about once or twice an hour in the morning and evening. I'm used to hearing trains so it didn't bother me.

The Metro stop (Blue-Capitol South) is a quick two block walk. We stayed Thursday-Monday and never found the Metro overly crowded. Across the street is a bike rental station. We also used Uber with no problems (~$37 one way ride to Mount Vernon) as well as the Circulator to visit many of the monuments. Get a SmarTrip Card at any Metro Stop to make using the Metro and the Circulator a breeze. Each person must have their own card. We got in late the first night and enjoyed a family dinner at Tortilla Coast, which is a 2 block walk. It's a neighborhood restaurant and also has a children's menu.

If we ever get back to D.C. we will most certain stay here again!

Perfect DC Location

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely perfect location for walking to the Capitol, Botanical Gardens, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, restaurants, and many other must-see attractions. The unit was clean and well appointed. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances and utensils. We had little to no noise from the tenants in the other unit. The beds and bedding were comfortable. There is an empty walk-through room in the basement that could easily accommodate another bed which would make the unit essentially a 4 bedroom, certainly would be acceptable for children. I think I saw an air bed mattress in one of the closets to suit this purpose. It was very nice to stay in an older building in the historical district that had been rehabilitated and modernized. We rented a car and had a street parking spot right outside the unit for our entire stay. We also called on UBER once to go to and from the Pentagon for a tour. "We The Pizza" was a favorite lunch spot within walking distance. We walked nightly with our 2 teen-aged sons and felt very safe with the well lit streets. Overall a great experience that I highly recommend. We do plan to return.

Ideal location

  • 4 of 5

The previous reviews are correct. This is about as great a location as you are going to get in DC. We had a great stay with our kids (ages 14, 11, and 9). Having the 3 bedrooms and the luggage room allowed us all to have our own space. After long days of walking and sightseeing it is a nice cozy place to come back to and relax. It is clean and comfortable.

The property is a short 2 block walk to the Metro and the Capitol. There are some nice restaurant choices on Pennsylvania Ave just a few additional blocks away. We were also able to walk to the Nationals game just down the road. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is an Amtrack train that runs regularly starting early in the morning around 6. Not a major inconvenience though.

The kitchen area is a little tight and the shower is as well (though it's normal for the houses in the area I'm sure with limited space). We had groceries delivered the first night and it worked out very well. We didn't notice upstairs neighbors until the last night and they were pretty loud. Fortunately we were leaving the next day.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Great house at great location

  • 5 of 5

Few minutes away from Capitol Hill and Smithsonian's museums, this is a great house. Owner took detailed care about putting a whole range of informations to make our stay, commute, food options easier. Rooms are good size and kitchen was stocked with necessary utensils. Kids had fun playing various board games kept in the house. Parking was not difficult to find in the street around the block once we asked them to provide a permit. All-in-all a great experience and highly recommended.

Amazing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at Shawn and Meaghan's place on Capitol Hill. The location is absolutely the best around. It's just a short walk to the US Capitol Building, Smithsonian Museums and the Metro Station is just around the corner. We felt like we were in the heart of it all. The home itself is beautiful -- stylish furnishings, an updated kitchen, super-comfortable bedding, and very clean. There was plenty of space for our family to spread out. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit to DC.

Great Location!!!

  • 5 of 5

What a find! My husband has an office in DC and is there several times a month and I join him occasionally. We recently took my sister and her son to celebrate his graduation from high school. This was a perfect location for our group. We were able to spread out and rest after long days of sightseeing. My sister had a car and the owners made sure we had a parking permit for the neighborhood. It could not have been easier! We are very familiar with D.C. and have decided that this was a perfect location...We walked over to the capital one night and enjoyed the sunset while listening to the Armed Forces band.

It was so nice to have such a well stocked unit...we use VRBO a lot and this isn't always the case. We might have found our new favorite place to stay in DC!
