Thank y ou for providing such a lovely home. We met here from around the globe: Japan, Belgium and Plainview, AR. Your home was comfortable and had everthing we needed in a lovely setting.
Out daughter (8) loved waking up in the morning to go and fish off of the dock.
As for restaurants, we tried Cajun Boilers and Smokin n' style BBQ that were recommended by previous guests. Both were great. 1 plate at Smokin n' style can feed 2-3 people!!
We are leaving tomorrow feeling relaxed and happy to have had a small family reunion.
Thank you and God Bless you!
This property is very close to Hot Springs, Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita which we enjoyed. We had our kids and two dogs and it was perfect! Last night we went swimming off the dock with a snake and a beaver. My daughter left a library book there and the home owner is mailing it back to us!! I would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable place to relax and unwind.
As a person who is not shy to provide criticism, I am truly impressed with our stay. This lake house was everything advertised and more. It provided us a great getaway weekend with an excellent location and beautiful drive. The house is very clean, well kept and the landscaping and trees are beautiful! I wish I could get my grass as nice and green as they have it. The owner was considerate and very responsive. He actually called shortly after we arrived to verify the house AC was nice and cold, which it was.
The master bedroom was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a hot June weekend, 101 with a heat index of 111. Don't do what I did and forget to close the master bedroom door; all that hot air will go straight to the room, naturally. Keep the door shut during the day and the house stays balanced. We ended up keeping it cracked at night and bumping the AC up because it got so cold.
The boat dock was very relaxing and peaceful; a great spot to fish and the water was like glass anytime we went down. We spend several hrs. on the dock, saw some turtles and some fish jumping.
The last night of our stay a thunderstorm hit hard. It was nice being able to keep my car safe in the garage. Something I’ve never thought of needing on vaca but glad we had!
We did our first ever zip-line tour with Adventure Works, it was awesome. Even with as hot as it was, there is lots of shade and the breeze was great. I would also suggest Kollective Coffee and Tea, Fat Jacks, the Pancake Shop, Fudge Factory (chocolate peanut butter ice-cream) and Fat Bottom Girls.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house and grounds are gorgeous. The only complaint we had was the upstairs bedroom not being cool enough. Thankfully I had read the previous reviews and brought a box fan with us so during the night we were cool enough. The little air conditioner in the second bedroom where there are NO vents might as well not even be there because it doesn't even cool the room by itself! A larger air unit could fix the problem. Other than that we had a great time! Oh and if you come to fish . . . be prepared for a disappointment . . . it is not a very good fishing spot if you just fish off the dock or grounds.
The location of the property was good. The home is maintained and was clean. My husband, father and son really enjoyed being able to walk to the dock and get in the boat and go fishing. The house itself was nice, however I would not recommend this house for the July/August months. The 2nd floor (where 2 of the bedrooms are located) stayed hot until 8:00 p.m. when the sun went down and the rooms finally cooled off. Of course we stayed in May so the temp outside was in the 60's at night which helped. The master bedroom has a sky light which is part of the reason it stayed hot as the sun beams into this room from sun up to sun down (no sleeping in on this trip). The 2nd bedroom upstairs is very small and has a window unit that stayed on 60 degrees but would never really cool off so we had to keep the doors open (so no privacy) The steps going to the 2nd floor are steep and I would not recommend for senior adults or young children. For that reason my mom and dad chose to sleep in the downstairs room which is a trundle/bunk bed and not what a senior citizen would typically choose to sleep on. Overall we were satisfied with this house and very glad that we stayed in May and not July/August. Just be prepared to get your exercise walking up and down the hill to the boat dock and walking up and down the stairs to the the 2nd floor. We did not feel the need to contact the owner during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed Hot Springs, we toured Garvin Gardens (a lot of walking so my parents chose to pay for the golf cart tour for themselves) but the sights are beautiful. We went zip-lining with Adventure Works which was worth every penny our guides Tyler and Hailey were awesome. We spent some time on bathhouse row and did some shopping in the boutiques along that area. We ate lunch a McLard's BBQ and the service was awesome and the food was even better (You have to try the Tamale spread). We also ate at Fat Jack's and the food was okay but the service was terrible.
This house was absolutely beautiful, they view is gorgeous, had more than enough room for the children, immaculate home! I would recommend it to everyone of my friends. We had a beautiful stay. And thank you to the owners you are absolutely outstanding! We will difentlly be back!!!
The location was great and the surrounding area was nice and quite. The house has a few problems, leak in roof at chimney, and the smell of sewage in the front yard. The water pressure was very weak in the down stairs kitchen and bath, while the upstairs had good pressure. It is a pretty house, but it was not as clean as I would have hoped when we arrived, and there were only 4 roles of bathroom paper, 1 extra roll of paper towels in the kitchen, and there were no extra trash bags. Ms Tina let us park our bikes there because of the rain before check-in time. Thank You Ms Tina.
Hot Springs has something for everyone. Downtown Hot Springs has a lot to offer like the Historical Bath House Row, art galleries, the gangster museum, the wax museuem, specialty botique shopping, duck tours and hiking. Oaklawn Park has horse racing from January to April and gambling all year. There are great restauraunts and a lively night life. Lake Hamilton provides great fishing, and lots of water sports. Boat and seadoo rentals are available as well. Just down the road is a family fun park that has miniature golf, go-carts and arcade. Magic Springs and Crystal Falls is an amusement and water park that the family will sure to love. A short distance away is the Ouachita River and the Caddo River where you can canoe, raft or kayak.
