About Ailsa Wilson

I live in Australia, but was born in Scotland. Both my brother and mother live in St Andrews and so it makes sense to own some property in the area.

Ailsa Wilson purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Ailsa Wilson chose Fife

We bought this property because we love the town of St Andrews - it holds a special place for us, as we were married here, and enjoyed our wedding reception at the Old Course Golf and Country Club. We also have a lot of family living in this area.

What makes this cottage unique

I love our cottage because it is just so cosy and so completely central to everything you could want from the town of St Andrews. It's age gives it history, and stories yet to unfold!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time in St Andrews at the weekend. The cottage was fab!

amazing spot in an amazing town!

  • 5 of 5

what a gem of a cottage! i could gush about the perfect location, the adorable garden and sun room, or the beautifully decorated bedrooms, but you should just go to St. Andrew's and stay at this amazing property to see for yourselves. the owner was extremely helpful and responsive (alerting me in advance to some nearby construction that didn't remotely impede our enjoyment in any way) and the home was exactly as pictured and described. well stocked and neat as a pin, i would highly recommend this property--and hope to return again with my own family!

What a wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights in the "Bunker Cottage" and loved the whole experience. The location is right in the middle of town and we loved the charm and thought that went into the house and amenities. We will be back for sure and loved the stay...

Convenient, clean, well-appointed

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay at the Bunker. As others have mentioned, the location cannot be beat. We were dropping off our "fresher" and took full advantage of having an in-town home while preparing for drop off. We did get a parking ticket (if you actually read the signs and the notes from the owner you can avoid this) so recommend paying attention to the rules. We hosted a little wine and cheese reception for a few other freshers and their parents and LOVED having access to the sun room and open back yard for that. The beds are comfy with lots of pillow choices. We cooked most nights and the kitchen had all that we needed. We cannot wait to go back!

Exceptional St Andrews Experience in a Central Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 traveled from Canada and were exceptionally pleased when we arrived at this most charming cottage. It was just as described and much more. The location was perfect as many restaurants, historical landmarks and of course golf attractions were within walking distance. The cottage was exceptionally clean and had all amenities required for us, traveling from afar. Communication with the host was great and we would highly recommend this venue to those considering a stay in St. Andrews. We would like to thank our host Ailsa for a great experience.

Accom in St Andrews is generally a bit difficult but the Bunker is brilliantly located!

  • 5 of 5

Between the Old Course, the retail, the Restaurants and Pubs University and historic buildings - what more could a golfer want! The house is compact but really comfortable with a loverly garden and lots of mod cons.

The charming medieval town of St. Andrews has much to offer its visitors. It is the home of golf as well as the oldest University in Scotland. It has a fascinating history, beautiful beaches and walks and excellent restaurants. It really is an idyllic location for enthusiastic golfers or a base to explore the east coast of Scotland.

St Andrews is a town meant for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore - on foot - and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.

St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his salt ire cross for her flag.
