Mark and Lyn have owned and operated the Gulf Breeze Alpaca (and Sheep) Ranch at Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis since 2007. Soon after welcoming her alpacas home, Lyn developed skills in processing their fiber herself, starting with learning how to shear them. After learning how to shear and process her own fiber into batts, roving and yarn, Lyn opened her shop and studio where she teaches spinning, knitting and wet felting & needle felting. She offers hand made and commercially made items and yarn in her shop at the ranch. Mark and Lyn offer tours of the ranch to groups and families throughout the year. This year they have added vacation rentals to the mix.
Owner purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Owner chose Lake City
The Christophs sought a piece of land within a 50 mile radius of their home in Corpus Christi where they could get away on weekends. They found this spot, a five acre tract of unimproved land that was located across the road from Lake Corpus Christi and immediately fell in love with the area. After purchasing the land in 2000, they spent weekends using a travel trailer, later to build a house, where they live now. They purchased additional 10 acres in 2008, and the 15 acres that connected it all together in 2010.
What makes this Cabin unique
The property is located within the flight paths of many migrating birds. There are many beautiful birds that live in the area year round. Green Jays, Kiskadees, Mockingbirds, many different finches and water fowl make their home in the area surrounding the lake. Wildlife is abundant, especially since the State Park is located less than 2 miles to the South of the property, there is also a Nature Preserve that runs along the river on both sides of the Wesley Seal Dam. Being within 50 miles of the Gulf Coast, the property enjoys cooling breezes coming from the Gulf waters, a semi-tropical environment. Being also on the edge of the dry line gives the property some semi-arid benefits such as a little dryer days in the summer. No matter what time of year, the benefits of living and working in the country are incalculable.

We loved our stay!
We were in town attending our daughter's graduation. We stayed at one of Gulf Breeze Alpaca Ranch's cottages for our stay. Our accommodations were excellent yet once again. Lyn and Mark provided us with fresh fruit, coffee with coffee maker in our room as well as orange juice and English muffins with fresh butter and delightful strawberry jam to go on our toasted muffins. We also had in our fridge fully stocked with bottled water. We made a wonderful breakfast to start our day with fresh GBAR chicken eggs too, such a delight to be able to make our own breakfast with a fully equipped kitchen complete with stove and microwave along with a complete set of dishes and utensils for our use. We thanked our gracious hosts, Mark and Lyn, for our wonderful stay and are looking forward to our next visit.
So happy you enjoyed your stay once again. It was great having you all here to celebrate the graduation and Mother’s Day!
Wonderful and enjoyable stay!
Our stay at the alpaca ranch cabins was wonderful. The kids absolutely loved it. Us adults enjoyed the surroundings and calmness. The place was very clean, spacious and amenities were plentiful. We will definitely come back. The property owners were very accommodating and very friendly and readily available.
We enjoyed having you all as our guests at the ranch. So glad the kids had such a good time. We look forward to seeing you again!
Wonderful cabin and welcoming host we loved the farm feeling of this lake view unique property.
Hubby and I stayed at the Gulf Breeze Alpaca Ranch for a long weekend and will definitely return. Mark and Lynn are the friendly proprietors of GB and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay. We stayed in cabin #2 and found it to be very clean and comfortable. Both of us had a restful nights sleep on the king sized bed. They even had new “My Pillows” on the bed and we liked them so much that we are ordering them for home. The kitchen is fully equipped with spotlessly clean cooking and eating utensils and had everything we needed. Mark and Lynn were easily available and told us to let him know if we needed anything else and otherwise we had complete privacy. The bathroom was spotless and stocked with everything, and more, than we needed. The living room has very comfortable furniture and a big screen TV and had good WiFi coverage. The cabin has front and back covered attached porches (with table and chairs) with views of fenced pastures filled with grazing miniature horses (we hand-fed the little horses with treats which they gobbled up), alpacas, sheep and various barns and sheds that house the inner workings of ranch life. We enjoyed a beautiful Sunrise on one porch and a spectacular sunset on the other. We took a walked on a path to where the chickens and turkeys🦃 are housed and the turkeys eagerly strutted showing off their tail feather plumage while a fat “Big Red” rooster puffed his feathers showing off too 🐓.
On Saturday I went to a felting class taught by Lynn and made a felt owl constructed from alpaca wool that she and Mark sheared and dyed. It was really fun!!!!
I would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet relaxed retreat to kick back and enjoy country living. We plan to go back soon🐓🐑🐿🐇🕊🦃🐐🐂🐾🐾🌵.
We are so happy that you’re visit was the getaway you were looking for. We love sharing our little corner of the world! Looking forward to having you come back real soon!

5 star home away from home
If your looking for a home away from home in the country on a farm experience this is a great choice.
The cozy cabin has a view of the lake. It’s so quiet and peaceful here. I love how the pony’s will occasional walk up near the front porch of the cabin. The family that lives here are amazing people. They made me feel comfortable and welcome. I would give this stay a 5 star rating and would definitely recommend.
We are so happy to know you enjoyed your visit to our little corner of the world. Glad you enjoyed your visit and the times you spent with the horses, too! We look forward to seeing you again.

I loved it!
My stay at Gulf Breeze Alpaca Ranch was amazing! It was the getaway I truly needed to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of nature all nestled around rustic mesquite trees with a beautiful scenic view of the lake right from my cabin's back deck! I love nature and wild life so this was a great experience and an opportunity for me to explore the shutterbug in me! My accommodations were 5 stars. I enjoyed seeing the alpacas, sheep, ews, and listening to the occasional gobbling of the GBAR turkeys. Thanks go out to Mark and Lyn for my stay, it was a great home away from home experience and I hope to be back soon.
