We rented Lakeside for our wedding weekend and had all our friends stay in Lakeside. Besides being absolutely beautiful, the cabinets are stocked with towels, dishes, silverware, etc, everything you'd need to stay. Steve and his family are literally the nicest people I've ever met and made sure our stay was better than we even imagined it. I can never say enough good things about Memory Mtn and the Powells. Stay here even if you're not planning a wedding!
My wishes and I were married here and we had the reception here. Steve, the owner is a wonderful person and know how to treat his guests. It is on a truly amazing property, with abundant views. The cabin has a very impressive living room, with a big fireplace and plenty of seating. Plenty of beds, and a two-level porch to host events at. We will always remember the weekend we stayed and were married at this cabin!
This is where I held my wedding ceremony and reception. It's breathtaking beauty will be a talking point of my friends and family for many years to come. Aside from that, it's just an amazing place to get away from it all. The perfect log cabin experience.
Steve was a gracious host and extremely attentive! He even let our kids play with Lobo, their pet wolf! Accommodations were just what we were looking for-comfy and spacious, with plenty of outdoors to explore! Came up with several family friends for a ski weekend and definitely plan to come back!
This is a gorgeous property in a gorgeous part of the country. This stunning cabin is spacious, well built and full of incredible details. Steve himself built this cabin and I have to say he really paid attention to details. Steve and Joy were incredible hosts, always answering our questions and making sure we were having a good time. Our family had an amazing time and we look forward to visiting again. A small caveat, the cabin is advertised on VRBO as sleeping 15 people. It really sleeps 12 people comfortably. There are enough beds for 12. 14 if 2 people sleep on the sofas. Another point, there is absolutely no cell phone reception up there. So you depend solely on wifi and wifi calling. Wifi was sketchy during our stay, on and off all the time. Steve ordered a new router but we never had the chance to use it since time came for us to leave. I'm sure there is a new router in place by now. I should point out there a landline phone available in the cabin. For all these minor issues I would have given our stay a 4 1/2 stars but I couldn't. I still and wholeheartedly recommend this property for up to 14 people (2 on sofas) and I would definitively stay there again. The family is still talking about the trip. Thank you Steve!
I'm an engineer from Florida (originally from Russia), so I and my friends were looking for some place where the weather would be a bit colder than winter in Florida. We reached out Steve, he replied promptly, it was easy to communicate with him and get directions to the place. Since we are from Florida all our cars front wheelers and it was easy to get to the house. Once we got there we have been amazed by spectacular lake view and the house itself. The house has lots of space and we been able to fit our big company comfortably. We came to NC celebrate New Year, so for as it was very important to have cozy nice looking house and we got what we wanted, the details in the house make you feel warm and welcoming, the fireplace was something special for our gifts exchange time, we got lots of great memories and smiley pictures next to it. And wifi in the house let you be in touch with family and friends, we been able to say "Happy New Year!" to the loved once. The nature around the house is beautiful, you can just walk near the lodge and enjoy the views. Steve also have 3 floors museum were he collecting almost everything and he was nice enough to give us a tour. Great time and the great experience.
