An Gearasdan was fully renovated to the highest standards in 2007 and the following year won the prestigious RIAS award for which the owners are justly proud. The house can comfortably sleep 8/10 - it is large enough to accommodate 2 families or a large group of friends. It is fitted with contemporary furnishings and has a fresh decor. Downstairs accommodation consists of a large cloakroom, utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, fridge freezer, a w.c and shower room. Leading off the hallway are 4 double bedrooms (two have twin beds, one has king and one has superking) (one en suite), a family shower-room, and separate TV lounge including a small double sofa bed. Upstairs is bright and open planned with a fully equipped kitchen with large fridge, ovens and microwave. There is a well stocked library of interesting books and family games, and a dining table to seat 10. Three large sofas surround a modern Jotul log burning stove. The house offers every comfort necessary to make your holiday complete.

My family have been coming to Glenelg for over 40 years. We are lucky to live in the beautiful Somerset countryside and holiday in the stunning Scottish Highlands.
Owner purchased this House in 2006
Why Owner chose Glenelg
We found the perfect spot with the most amazing view and with the help of the incredible architects built our dream house in Glenelg.
What makes this House unique
Modern, warm, cosy and bright all at the same time. The location is ideal for the shop the pub and the walks along the beach.

Fabulous Family Home in Spectacular Location
We booked this property for a big family holiday for my birthday, this lovely house is perfect for a large family with adults and small children, it is well laid out and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable and the log burner was amazing and kept the upstairs lovely and warm, the views from all windows on clear days were just beautiful. The beach quite close to the house is a pebble beach which the children loved exploring, there is a sandy beach a longer walk away, all surrounded by stunning scenery. A short walk along the road out of Glenelg is the best children's playground ever, Kay told us that it had been recently updated and it was a great place for the children to play, whilst us oldies sat on the bench and admired the views. We cooked most nights as we had quite small children with us but we did eat at The Glenelg Inn a couple of times, it's a lovely cosy place where the food and hospitality were excellent, they also provided gluten free choices too for coeliacs. Thank you Kay for providing your home for the best week of birthday celebrations, we will always remember Glenelg and An Gearasdan with much love and with many happy memories, we were all sorry to leave your wonderful home .Chris and Colin McCourt
Thank you so much for such lovely comments and so glad that you had a wonderful birthday celebration. Please come back and visit us again soon - you were the perfect guests!! Kay
A fabulous house in a stunning location.
We had a lovely week in your home. It is in such a beautiful area with wonderful views across to Skye. We were so lucky with the weather, had some great walks. So pleased we went to visit the Brochs. The drive over to Arnisdale was one of the most wonderful routes, the autumn colours of the trees and the clear views over to the Hebrides! Sandaig Beach was lovely and we were the only ones there! The little village shop was handy for essentials. We loved spending time sat by the log burner, it was nice to just relax, flick through a selection of the wonderful books you have or scan the beach with the telescope and maybe have the odd snooze! We are planning to return. Thank you to Kay and Graeme.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay November can be such a lovely time to enjoy the Highlands - we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Beautiful home, an incredible 3 days!
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the owners Kay and Graeme, we booked An Gearasdan for 10 of us to stay as a 30th birthday treat for my partner and we couldn't have stayed in a more perfect house. We all felt so lucky to be in such an outstanding home with the most beautiful sea views across to Skye. It was everything we could have wished for.
Booking was very easy with Kay and she was very helpful answering all my questions before arrival, on arrival she left us a guide and plenty of info and maps onf the area.
The house has everything you may need, including plenty of kitchen equipment, linen, firewood, board games, books and dvds.
The house is a 5 minute walk to the local pub the Glenelg Inn where we had a fantastic Sunday lunch on one day and had such a friendly cosy atmosphere, also only a 5 min drive to the Glenelg ferry to get the ferry across to Skye!
Overall a perfect home and location for scenery, tranquillity, the local pub, and the ferry, i can't recommend this home enough!
Thank you so much for such an excellent review and so glad that you managed to pack so many wonderful things in! Thanks again and be great to welcome you back to Glenelg in the future.
Great holiday home.
Fabulous house, comfortable and spacious, in a great location with stunning views. Wonderful to watch the weather, especially Storm Ali, and so much wild life everyday from the upstairs windows - barn owl, buzzards, herons, etc Saw a golden eagle during our visit. Highly recommend the Glenelg Inn for delicious food and good atmosphere, and the car ferry to Skye. Lovely walk to the brochs and waterfall.
I am so glad that you had such a wonderful trip and spotted all the wildlife - next time perhaps you will see the Sea Eagle. Thank you for being lovely guests!
Great location, with superb views of Skye. Plenty of easily accessible walks.
Great place: open concept house with plenty of room for family members.
Could have done with a bit more cleaning and organizing prior to our arrival—ended up having to clean the trash bin in kitchen and finish drying the additional towels-which had been left in the dryer.
Would encourage a shopping stop prior to getting to the house as a round trip to the closest supermarket at Kyle of Lochalsh is around 2 hrs- the shop in the village is for bare minimum essentials only.
Wi-Fi -TV is non-existent so a walk down to the local Inn to catch up local news is required.
Local ferry over to Kylerhea is great to get onto Skye and avoids the additional drive to get over the Skye bridge.
Remote village location to get away from it all, so would definitely stay again.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review I am so glad that you enjoyed the space and the view and would love to come back again, it is a very special place. Thank you also for the comments about the towels and the bin - we have made our housekeeper aware and are waiting for her feedback. As you can see we normally receive only positive feedback so it is a concern if standards have fallen short. Sadly the village shop is up for sale and I think that stocks are currently very low, thankfully we have the wonderful Glenelg Inn.
I do hope you do decide to book again soon...
Beautiful place to stay in Glenelg
Another wonderful week spent in An Gearasdan. The house itself is so comfortable and relaxing with such amazing views over to Skye from the upstairs kitchen and lounge. Bedrooms are very spacious and the kitchen and living area upstairs are extremely well equipped. Plenty of space outside to enjoy the beautiful, quiet surrounding area. Love Glenelg, will definitely be back next year!
Thank you for your amazing review and look forward to welcoming you back next year.
An Gearasdan is set in a stunning location overlooking Glenelg Bay and the Isle of Skye, just outside the village of Glenelg in Wester Ross. The property offers superior accommodation in one of the most picturesque settings in the Western Highlands. Glenelg has a village shop and pub, the famous Glenelg Inn serves delicious food. An Gearasdan sits with commanding views of the Sound of Sleat and is adjacent to the ruined Hanoverian Barracks. The surrounding countryside is wild and beautiful with fabulous mountains, glens and waterfalls. A short distance away is the gentle walk to Sandaig, a beautiful sandy bay which was once home to Gavin Maxwell and the inspiration for his famous book Ring of Brightwater. An Gearasdan has uninterrupted views to the sea and river estuary, where seals, otters, dolphins, whales and eagles are regularly sighted. Breathtaking sunsets can be enjoyed from the larch clad balcony, or upstairs in front of the log burner in the open plan living/dining room.
