Overview

Palm Island Townhome Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 3 Baths

DIRECTLY on the GULF of MEXICO, newly remodeled townhouse. Located on the BEACH with dockage, tennis court and a fantastic gulf front pool! Fabulous, expansive gulf views. There is a screened porch on the main level, and an upstairs balcony off of the master bedroom. All of the appliances are new, as well as new windows, tile floors, bathrooms and a new gourmet kitchen with granite countertops. Fully equipped and ready for your enjoyment. Other new items include, flat screen televisions, local original art, ceiling fans, furniture, bikes, kayak, linens and towels, kitchen equipment, glassware, plates, silverware, etc. The list goes on and on! Just about everything is fresh and new. Also includes cable television, free long distance in the US and Canada and wireless internet access. Please inquire for more details and specifics about this great gulf front vacation rental.

No crowds here, just miles of unspoiled, 100% natural Florida (the way it used to be!). World renowned shelling, fantastic sunsets, bird watching galore, kayaking, dolphins, gopher tortoise, and a lively lagoon where fish jump all day long. Don Pedro State park is a short walk down the beach. You’ll want to capture the Island’s charm by traveling via golf cart, we rarely use cars here. Golf cart rental is available.

Bring your boat or rent one for the ultimate in Florida lifestyle. Our community dock will accommodate a boat up to 20 feet. Like to fish? Fish right off the dock or try your luck surf fishing or book a charter with one of the local guides for a thrilling day of sport fishing or backwater challenges. Trout, Redfish, Snook, Tarpon and Grouper are just a few of the many species that call our waters home.

Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) is a barrier island and a stones throw from the mainland. You’ll arrive via a short car ferry ride that takes about three minutes. Our island has a terrific resort that offers a casual restaurant, ice cream/deli shop, sundries store and a pirate show for the kids. The island is almost all single family homes so you’ll quickly find it has a pristine 'non-commercial” family feel. There are no large high-rise resorts, beach bars or traffic and noise. If you’re looking for that place in the sun that you can actually hear the wind whistle through the palms - you’ve found your place.

Off island you’ll be close to restaurants, shops, golf courses and world famous Boca Grande as well as other attractions. As we like to say... civilization is close but not too close. Boca Grande offers exclusive shopping, dining and sightseeing. By boat you can reach Cayo Costa Island State Park and Cabbage Key where Jimmy Buffet was inspired to write 'Cheeseburger In Paradise.' Do it all, or do nothing at all, that’s the “island” lifestyle. It’s laid back, always casual (leave your tie at home) and Florida at its best.

Sleeps six comfortably. No smoking. Pets allowed with owner's permission, additional pet deposit and fee per pet applies. Spacious, open floor plan. Fully equipped kitchen. Nice screened porch that opens into the living room. Master bedroom with private bath and beachfront balcony.

Don Pedro/Palm Island is an experience like no other. Come to our island and see why so many have fallen in love with this little 'slice' of paradise!

About Julie

I grew up in Florida and as a child and teenager we would always head over to the Gulf Coast beaches for our recreation and vacations. It was a lot of fun and holds a bunch of fond memories for me. Back then, the Gulf Coast was less discovered and certainly less developed. Today, it's hard to find a beach with so few people and so underdeveloped. Quite refreshing to say the least. We chose Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) for the natural beauty and 'Old Florida' feel. This chain of islands just may be the last true Florida beach you can walk down (7 miles long) and hardly see another person. We also liked that there are no beach bars and high-rise buildings. It is the best of Old Florida, natural, unspoiled and a genuine paradise.

Julie purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Julie chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

We bought here for the unspoiled beauty of the island and the area in general. Englewood is a low-key Old Florida 'beach town' that reminds you of how Florida looked many years ago, without the huge high-rise condominiums and massive hotels clogging the beach. There are plenty of local 'home-grown' shops and restaurants and the fishing is some of the best in world. The beaches are fantastic and the boating is world-class. If you are looking for a great family area that is close to everything, but far away from the congestion, traffic and noise, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place. The only way to get on and off the island is by a 3 minute car ferry ride. Having no bridge to the island allows for a semi-private atmosphere and keeps beach going traffic to an absolute minimum. The island is all residential other than the resort area at the north end of Palm Island which offers a quality restaurant and ice cream/deli shoppe and small sundries store. Most all of the island traffic is by golf cart.

What makes this townhome unique

Staying on the island is not for everyone. If you like lots of places to shop, tourist attractions, beach bars and chain restaurants, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for un-crowded and un-spoiled beaches, great kayaking, fishing and swinging in a hammock under some breezy palms, this may be just the place. It's for a couple or family that wants some serious down-time ... a place to unplug and recharge your batteries and enjoy some great family time. Our town home is pet-friendly with tile floors throughout, a private outdoor shower (which is great for pets!). We always travel with our dog and we know many of you won't leave home without yours either. After all, they're part of the family. There's an entertainment area under the unit with a charcoal grill, snack bar area, table and chairs. You'll see plenty of Gopher Tortoise and native birds. The beach is literally at your doorstep as is the private community pool.

Best Florida beach vacation over the last 55 years--and,there have been dozens!

  • 5 of 5

Don Pedro is like many of the Gulf Coast islands my family visited by sailboat in the 1960's -- but one of the very few that remains non-commercialized, unspoiled by roads and streetlights and crowed beaches and commercial establishments. It is utterly peaceful, natural and soul-soothing.

Owner's Response: Carol - I'm so happy that you and your family found Don Pedro Island (AKA Palm Island). We fell in love with the island for all of the same reasons you mentioned. It is one of only a few places left that are still Old Florida at its best. I hope you and your family are able to make it back to the island again in the near future.

Fabulous beachfront unit!

  • 5 of 5

This property was the cleanest, nicest unit we have rented. Just steps from the beach and everything was provided. We had chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, bikes, coolers, ice packs, beach towels, and much more! The inside was arranged perfectly for our needs. It was truly a home away from home. The beach is clean, water is clear, sunsets are beautiful. We watched them often from the upstairs deck. We loved picking up sharks teeth in the shell shoals. Best vacation ever!

Absolutely wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We will be going back!! Such a relaxing week! We completely enjoyed a beautiful view and well-appointed townhome with all amenities of home. We had a lovely time with our two children and dog (he was such a happy pup). We came prepared with the food and fishing gear, beach chairs (they also had!), and minimal clothing (thanks to the washer dryer). We played tennis, shelled, fished, kayaked, rented their golf cart to go for ice cream at the resort every few days, and swam in the ocean.

To fully enjoy your time, be organized and plan a few days' meals ahead so you don't have to leave the island...you'll want to enjoy every second. We welcomed the summer storms in the afternoon as a chance to come inside and eat, read or catch up on the news.

Another year in paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Dolphin Beach. The owners have literally thought of everything. We flew in with two suitcases for two adults and two children. Everything else is there waiting in the unit. We saw dolphins, manatees, and a dozen gopher tortoises. My wife and daughters love the shelling. I love the kayak and quiet time with family.

If you are looking for a quiet, beach front home away from the crowds and tourist traps...this is it.

PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

The view from the oceanfront townhome was absolutely GORGEOUS! You have unobscured views of the gulf from the kitchen/dining area, living room, screened in porch, master bedroom and balcony.

The townhome itself has been recently updated and was immaculate when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable with high end sheets. Fully stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels and beach towels. Washer/dryer off kitchen. Flat screen tv's in living room and bedrooms. Spacious throughout. The screen porch was wonderful with hooks to hang beach towels, bench and table with four chairs. The balcony off the master has two very nice reclining chairs, as well. From the bed in the master you have full view of the gulf. A wonderful way to wake up! All you need to bring are your personal items/clothes and some groceries.

The beach and pool (just a few steps away) are clean and uncrowded. There are no hotels or high rise buildings. The island itself, natural and beautiful!

We normally go to Hilton Head and have been to Mexico. This was by far one of our best beach vacations yet! If you are looking for a second to none view, wonderful accommodations, relaxation and uncrowded beaches, this is your place!

Also, Julie was wonderful to deal with! She responded promptly to all my questions. Checked to see if I had any last minute questions the week before our trip and she checked on us the day we arrived. First class!!

Highly recommend!

Unspoiled, uncrowded and unbelievable location. It's old Florida at its best. One of the best beaches in the world and certainly one of the best in Florida. World-class Boca Grande is very close and Englewood offers some quaint shopping and local restaurants. It's an old Florida beach town that has managed to stay connected to a slower pace and tropical living.
