Great property in central location.

  • 5 of 5

The flat was large, well furnished and provided everything we needed. Location in Jordaan was convenient for the city centre and the bus station. The owner Frans was very helpful and provided us with advice and maps for walks in the Zandvoort area.

One minor criticism is that a brighter light or a more central light in the bedroom area would be appreciated

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely apartment for two weeks, over Christmas holiday. It was a dream! We arrived bleary eyed, in the morning, and were greeted at the door by Frans. He's a kind and knowledgable man, with a good sense of humor, and was always available for any questions we might have. He offered a plethora of great ideas, from food, to shopping, to transport, to art exhibits. We really enjoyed our exchanges with Frans...he feels like an old friend, now.

The apartment was perfect! It was clean, and ready for us upon arrival. The open floor plan feels much bigger than the pictures, and the separation of living space worked out great, with our twelve year old daughter having a place to go, and shut the door, as twelve year old daughters do. The washing machine was a terrific help, especially since we were there for two weeks! The Westerkerk clock tower outside the bedroom window was delightful! Every fifteen minutes, you hear hit chime, and on Christmas Eve, it played carols. Magical!

The location of the apartment is perfect. It is located on a quiet, narrow street, where right around the corner, you step into the lively Jordaan area, full of shopping, food, sights, and bicycles.

I've read reviews where people were unhappy with the internet, but really, it worked fine. We used it for our correspondence, and the rest of the time, we explored the city. Lack of television is a welcome thing, with so much to see, taste, and experience, right outside the door.

The kitchen provides ample space for preparing and storing food, and there is even a dishwasher. Shopping markets and outdoor markets are nearby, so we really had fun making meals with the bounty we found. There is so much GOOD FOOD.

We didn't use transportation, while there, aside from the taxi to and from the airport, and just walked everywhere we needed to go, including markets, museums, central station, shopping, restaurants, and markets.

In short, it was a dream vacation, and Frans helped make it that way. We didn't want to leave.

We definitely will stay at this property again, and recommend it, without hesitation.

Great Place to stay in Jordaan!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this apartment during our stay in Amsterdam. This location was perfect and centrally located to everything. We walked everywhere. Frans was very helpful and gave us directions and many suggestions. Everything was very comfortable. There is no cable or satellite TV as suggested and the internet does work better from the back of the apartment but it really was not a problem. Would definitely recommend this place!

Location, Location -and a great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

This was our second visit to this charming apartment. The location is so perfect for a visit to this delightful City. The Jordaan is such a great neighbourhood, you can find everything including supermarkets within a couple of blocks and most tourists sights are an easy walk. Coming back to the Apt is like coming home, comfy bed, clean and easy apartment. Nice extras are the washing machine and dishwasher.

Frans was helpful, we would happily recommend this apartment.

Great location, clean, and comfortable with a helpful host.

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay! Great location with easy access to city center and near many cool shops, cafes, and grocery. The apartment is spacious - we loved the quiet street, full kitchen, comfy bed, and view of the Westermark Church. The washing machine was also very helpful. Franz greeted us with helpful recommendations on where to go, eat, and shop. A previous reviewer mentioned the church chimes but we really barely noticed the chimes and when we did, found it quite pleasant. WiFi does work best in a certain part of the house but we never had a problem with the signal and it was fine for web browsing on cell phones, face time, etc...

All in all, we had a wonderful stay in Jordaan and would highly recommend this place - we hope to come back and stay again.

Weak Wifi and No Sateliite/Cable as Noted in The Description

  • 3 of 5

We travel fulltime & rent apartments around the world through VRBO/Homewawy all the time. We count on owners giving an accurate description of their amenities when deciding where to stay. We stayed 2 weeks. This is the first time the description of amenities did NOT match what was in the apt.

There is NO satellite or cable ANYTHING in this apartment yet it still shows it is as of today. This was very upsetting as we always watch major sporting events, etc on TV plus we don't go out in the evenings. We travel/explore during the day. The owner was unapologetic & said this was a quiet apt plus he didn't want the noise with people sitting around smoking etc. He said we could just watch or read things on our iPads. After further conversation he does not intent to add it so DONT LIST cable/satellite as an amenity. The wifi is REALLY WEAK & only accessible in 1 corner of the apt in the back. There is no router in the apt so it piggybacks off his downstairs apt. The wifi was not strong enough to use FaceTime to talk with the family or use you tube or other like apps without some buffering issues. My husband informed the owner it was slow but based on the response it was a known issue.

These items were a unwelcome surprise but you have no options once you have paid in advance & arrive. We use these apartments like they are our home rather than being on vacation so we rely on what the owner states in their ad. The pictures are not accurate as there is now a single bed in the front of the unit with a table/3chairs plus wall units. The couch is now in the back across from the bed. FYI...The bathroom is a tiled wet room with no shower enclosure. There is a door to the toilet area in the bthrm. The back view is of a dirty roof out the French balcony window. You can see & hear the nearby clock tower which chimes/bells rings every 15 minutes.

In all fairness if you are here on vacation or a short stay and tv and wifi are not a high priority to you then this apartment is in a good location close to transportation, a grocery store, many restaurants and museums. Good bed & Washing machine. Amsterdam is a wonderful city & this area is safe/pleasant to walk around. The airport bus comes nearby so no car is needed. Get an OV Chipcard for transportation & we highly recommend a Museumkart that will pay for itself in a few visits.

We hope this review is helpful to our fellow travelers and more accurately describes the situation in the apt.

Map

Car: not necessary

The apartment is located in the famous Jordaan area one of the liveliest and famous local districts of the citycenter. You will find bars, cafés, restaurants and all kinds of shops in the direct surrounding of the apartment. Most Museums are close-by, especially the Anne Frank House situated on the other side of the Prinsengracht, just a few steps away. The apartment has a great view on the Westertoren like Anne Frank did during her stay in 'het achterhuis'.
