The apartment is situated in an original 18th Century townhouse located within the UNESCO World Heritage Area in City Center Amsterdam. The apartment is quiet and fully self contained with private entrance at street level in a local street just around the corner of the Prinsengracht. First floor with windows at both sides, kitchen, bathroom, living room and (separate) sleeping room with 'French' balcony.
The Jordaan area is a famous local area in the very heart of the Golden Age with many shops, restaurants, food stores and café's. Everything on walking distance. Anne Frank House is one block away as well as the trendy neighborhood de9straatjes.
The owner lives downstairs, where he runs a yoga studio.
The apartment was in a beautiful neighborhood and had everything we needed. Everything was within @ a 15-20 minute (brisk) walk. We walked to the Museum District, Dam Square, Central Amsterdam, and everything in between. There are many places to eat and shop nearby. Our only complaint was not having wifi the majority of our stay but other than that it was the perfect place to stay while experiencing Amsterdam.
The apt is in a great location, near major walking streets and easy transportation. It is an easy one-flight up. The rooms have full windows at both ends, and a beautiful, lighted church tower out one direction. Franz is very helpful and accessible. The apt is well-equipped. We highly recommend this property.
Beautifully remodeled apartment, lots of light, great kitchen, gracious host. Centrally located and very quiet.
The flat was large, well furnished and provided everything we needed. Location in Jordaan was convenient for the city centre and the bus station. The owner Frans was very helpful and provided us with advice and maps for walks in the Zandvoort area.
One minor criticism is that a brighter light or a more central light in the bedroom area would be appreciated
We stayed in this lovely apartment for two weeks, over Christmas holiday. It was a dream! We arrived bleary eyed, in the morning, and were greeted at the door by Frans. He's a kind and knowledgable man, with a good sense of humor, and was always available for any questions we might have. He offered a plethora of great ideas, from food, to shopping, to transport, to art exhibits. We really enjoyed our exchanges with Frans...he feels like an old friend, now.
The apartment was perfect! It was clean, and ready for us upon arrival. The open floor plan feels much bigger than the pictures, and the separation of living space worked out great, with our twelve year old daughter having a place to go, and shut the door, as twelve year old daughters do. The washing machine was a terrific help, especially since we were there for two weeks! The Westerkerk clock tower outside the bedroom window was delightful! Every fifteen minutes, you hear hit chime, and on Christmas Eve, it played carols. Magical!
The location of the apartment is perfect. It is located on a quiet, narrow street, where right around the corner, you step into the lively Jordaan area, full of shopping, food, sights, and bicycles.
I've read reviews where people were unhappy with the internet, but really, it worked fine. We used it for our correspondence, and the rest of the time, we explored the city. Lack of television is a welcome thing, with so much to see, taste, and experience, right outside the door.
The kitchen provides ample space for preparing and storing food, and there is even a dishwasher. Shopping markets and outdoor markets are nearby, so we really had fun making meals with the bounty we found. There is so much GOOD FOOD.
We didn't use transportation, while there, aside from the taxi to and from the airport, and just walked everywhere we needed to go, including markets, museums, central station, shopping, restaurants, and markets.
In short, it was a dream vacation, and Frans helped make it that way. We didn't want to leave.
We definitely will stay at this property again, and recommend it, without hesitation.
We really enjoyed this apartment during our stay in Amsterdam. This location was perfect and centrally located to everything. We walked everywhere. Frans was very helpful and gave us directions and many suggestions. Everything was very comfortable. There is no cable or satellite TV as suggested and the internet does work better from the back of the apartment but it really was not a problem. Would definitely recommend this place!
The apartment is located in the famous Jordaan area one of the liveliest and famous local districts of the citycenter. You will find bars, cafés, restaurants and all kinds of shops in the direct surrounding of the apartment. Most Museums are close-by, especially the Anne Frank House situated on the other side of the Prinsengracht, just a few steps away. The apartment has a great view on the Westertoren like Anne Frank did during her stay in 'het achterhuis'.
