About The Owner

Frank and Edwina moved to Waynesville from New Orleans to get away from the heat and politics. They got away from the heat; the politics here aren't any better than in Louisiana. Both native Orleanians, Frank was an insurance broker and Edwina had a gourmet to-go food business. They still drink chicory coffee, cook Cajun and Creole dishes and talk funny. They enjoy having guests in their cabin and frequently invite them up to the main house for a drink, a snack and a look around.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1999

Why The Owner chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

We knew we wanted to retire in the Smokey Mountains but were not sure where. We rented a house in Highlands for a month in November 1995 to look for the right place. We searched the mountains from Murphy and Andrews to Boone and Blowing Rock and everything in between. We got to know dozens of real estate agents. Towards he end of the month we knew Waynesville was the place. It had high elevation, a small town near a larger one, supermarkets, live theater, movie house, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, a community college, a fine library, arts and crafts, friendly people and just everything we were desiring. We wanted a big piece of land; we had lived on a 50 X 150 lot in New Orleans. We have almost 14 acres, a cascading, singing creek to put us to sleep, total privacy, birds, trees, sometimes we see a deer, a turkey or a bobcat. The setting is truly ideal.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is well appointed and equipped with everything you'll need other than food and beverages. It has condiments, spices, ice and what ever the previous

guest left behind.

Fabulouse cabin is a spacious modern house

  • 5 of 5

easy access, paved all the way up. Quality construction, warm in winter, easy to cool in summer, or leave the windows open and hear the creek tumbling down behind the house. It was just two of us so we didn't use half the house. Loved the fireplace. We plan to return and rent this place again sometime next year.

Just what I was looking for. Very private, felt like we were the only people on the mountain. Frank, thanks for your help with the motorcycle logistics. The kids loved the creek just a short walk down the walkway. I would recommend this cabin to anyone. Very well appointed.

Hope to return.

Thanks again

A 20th wedding anniversary retreat

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed everything about this retreat. The "cabin" was larger than we'd envisioned and completely comfortable and convenient. The privacy was a special treat since we live in the country and not used to having close neighbors. Our dog, who is accustomed to having the run of 64 acres at home, also enjoyed being "off lease" most of the time. The owners were available but not intrusive and have anticipated about every need vacationers might encounter. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us.

we had a blast. The cabin was great and clean. The beds were comfy. The creek was amazing and really cool to listen to.The price was awesome. We went shopping in Waynesville and ate at every place we could find!We got to see the owner,Frank's restored Punnett bike, that was really neat to see.He was very helpful with our questions. We went to Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the mississippi, that was something to see.We are from Wisconsin and really appreciate the mountain life,I want to move here someday. It was a very fun trip.Thank you Frank and Edwina for renting your cabin to us,it was really neat.Kim and Darcy
