Hill Flats DC is an owner managed luxury 1880 brownstone on the first residential block across the street from the Library of Congress and Folgers Shakespeare Theater. Just a short walk away you will have immediate access to the US Capitol, US Supreme Court, and The National Mall.
This is the ultimate location if you are looking for immediate walk-able access to all of Washington DC's historic sites.
The building is also just few blocks away from Eastern Market and Barracks Row. For public transportation the property is a short walk to Union Station and Capitol South Metro stops in addition to numerous bus lines.
There are dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bar's within a few minute walk. There is also a neighborhood grocery store around the corner. Capitol bike share is located nearby. Walkscore is 94.
The private apartment is on the first floor of a 4 unit historic 1880 building. The flat has been freshly remodeled and has a fully appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and marble bathroom tile. For your sleeping arrangements we have 1 queen size pillow top mattress bed, 1 queen size combination spring + air sofa bed, and 1 full size combination spring + air sofa bed. We also have an additional queen size air mattress which is available upon request.
The unit comes with everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

Parking is available on site for $25/night. Please inquire for availability. In case our on-site parking is not available for your stay there is parking at Union Station for $22/night. Union Station is approximately a 10 minute walk to the flat.

Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.
The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.
Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.
Hill Flats has been meticulously preserved while ensuring that it meets modern comforts.

We loved every minute of our stay in this Historic 1880 Brownstone. Our family of 5 had plenty of room to spread out. We were within an easy walk of the Library of Congress (right across the street), the Capitol, many restaurants and the Metro. We used the Metro routinely to get to the opposite side of the National Mall and getting to Arlington National Cemetery and to and from the airport. Very easy to use and understand. We had no issues riding the Metro, in fact, the kids loved it. This rental is on a beautiful street lined with historic homes.
I would recommend this home for families, but not couples. The bathroom is only accessible by walking through the master bedroom. Not a problem for most families, but may be uncomfortable if sharing with other couples.
The property was clean and well-maintained. It's the perfect blend of historic and modern. The original fireplaces, wall art and overall feel is very historic and exactly what we were looking for in a rental for this trip. The kitchen is very modern which was lovely as well.
The owner provided excellent customer service. He responded quickly to all the questions we had in advance and gave us some great tips and info ahead of our trip.
The place had everything we needed, clean, and well taken care of. Thanks for a great time in DC!!
The location was great, about a mile from Union Station. Our family of five enjoyed our stay and walked everywhere from the Capitol to the White House. Great restaurants nearby, I recommend getting pizza and beer from We the Pizza. A small market is located right around the corner with snacks, personal items, beer, wine, etc. We plan on returning to DC in the future, and hope to return to Hill Flats!
Prime location , roomy, good parking, short walks to shops, cafes, etc A bench out front would be nice in nice weather or before sunset and a few short cocktails glasses. Beautiful wine glasses. Gorgeous kitchen and up to date TVs were enjoyable. Superb maid service. Extremely clean. A lamp in living room could be helpful. Very nice bathroom. Fine Uber service from 3rd street. Other guests were very pleasant.
We parked our car hehind the unit our first night and never touched it until we checked out. We walked everywhere! So convenient for touring all the monuments & national mall. The Capitol is only 2 blocks away and from there you can jump on the Circulator bus that loops the mall for only $1 per ride. The neighborhood was great & we always felt safe walking especially with the Capitol police presence. The corner market was literally right around the corner & had all the necessities. Capitol Hill Baptist church is just past the corner market (2 blocks from the unit). We had a wonderful worship service there--a highlight of our trip! We The Pizza & Starbucks 2 blocks the opposite direction. The apartment was clean & updated. Kitchen had everything we needed. Everything on same level. The only hassle is going through bedrooms to get to the one bathroom. I would stay here again. Great location for a DC visit!
Great location made for easy walking to all the sites. Close to Metro station for easy arrival from airport. Responsive and advance info on nearby amenities was great. Very comfortable for our family.
