Wonderful ancient apartment surrounded by an enchanting private garden among the moutain of the Amalfi Coast.
Villa Edda is now a charming Bed and Breakfast, nestled in the idyllic, rustic scene at 500 meters altitude, over the heavenly Gulf of Salerno.
The perfect retreat, offering peace and tranquillity, in an environment far removed from everyday life. A place for those who appreciate the finer, yet authentic things in life.
It's an ideal place for a family and who want to enjoy good and playful time in the garden.
Villa Edda shows the imprint of its noble history. It became the property of the agricultural area of the famous, Cava dei Tirreni, Benedictine Abbey (around 1100), and the monks, still today, call it 'the Little Vatican'.
Restructuring has converted it into an elegant, modern residence, with great comfort and style, with a meticulous attention to choice building materials, ceramics, decoration and the use of natural pigments.
On the ground floor, there is an area with porticos that create a lovely interaction between the outside gardens and the interior.
We provide 2 bedrooms: 1 suite w/bathroom in-suite (for 3 people) and 1 bedroom w/bathroom in-suite (for 2 people).
Do not hesitate to ask for the price of each room.

Incredible place, wonderful host, with all the charm of Italy
We chose to stay at Villa Edda almost at random and couldn't have done better if we had tried. Elvira is the most amazing host, making us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The villa is set in a charming, peaceful village convenient by car to the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Paestum, and Naples. The basilica and nearby walks in the town are gems in their own right.
But what really makes this a great place is the villa itself and Elvira. By the time we left, we felt like we had made a new friend. She not only gave us inside tips and advice about the area, but she also made time to chat with us, make sure we were comfortable, and to get to know us. If you want a taste of Italy away from the tourists, then this is the place to go. You'll be well-looked after and leave charmed by la dolce vita of Italian hospitality.
We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Cava Dei Tirreni in late September.
My wife and I, along with her parents, stayed here for four nights and it was definitely the highlight of our trip when it came to lodging.
Although the property is a little out of the way it is a fantastic place to stay! It is located up on a mountain and a little hard to find at first but very well worth the effort we made. The rooms were top shelf, they are very clean and comfortable and Elvera makes sure that everything is perfectly in place.
The greeting was very warm and we enjoyed refreshments on the veranda when we arrived. Elvera soon joined us to advise us on some options as to where to eat and to see while we were in the area.
The best thing that we liked about this experience was that Elvera was so helpful to make sure that we had a great time. She helped us with getting to and from places and even dealing with our tour guides that we had previously arranged.
By the time we left we actually all felt like we had made a friend in Elvera. We hope to one day see her again...either in Italy or in Canada!
There are a lot of great hotels and fantastic vacation rentals to be found in Italy. But what we remember is the experience that we have at them. This one was one of the best!

An unforgettable retreat in the southern coast
Dear Elvira and Fabrice,
Many thanks for an unforgettable stay at villa Edda. We enjoyed spending our last week in southern Italy and feeling so at "home". The villa is truly spectacular and situated away from crowds and touristy attractions which was much appreciated after numerous day trips to Amalfi coast and Pompeii. This place is magical in the sense of feeling true Italy. Fruit are grown on the trees; figs, lemons, plums. Winding rose bushes climb by window shutters, large bow sized Windows and arched walls inhabit this special villa and gives the feel of the true architecture as it was during the medieval times. The curtains are custom made to fit the large windows, the updated bathroom consist of vetri tiles throughout.. The interiors of the home have been carfully chosen to suit and provide elements of old and new world. Bravo Elvira and Fabrice for your wonderful sense of design and fine taste. All 5 members of our family have a particular favorites but to sum it up in one word it would be unforgettable. I will not forget the glorious breakfast served daily on the veranda consisting of fresh tree picked fruit, fresh variety of cheeses, freshly squeezed orange juice, oven baked breads. Aside from the wonderful villa, the location is 10 minutes away from vietri sul mare which is the first town introducing the Amalfi coast. It is 15 minutes from the vibrant town of Salerno in which we arrived by train. Our days were mainly planned for expolration with the recommendation of our new friends Elvira and Fabrice. They are knowledgable with much experience and information. Thank you for going above and beyond and hosting us with the true warm, kind and affectionate Italian hospitality. Ciao and hope to return soon.

Enchanting mountainside oasis giving easy access by boat & road to the riches of the Amalfi Coast.
We cannot rate Vila Edda and the hospitality of Fabrice and Elivira highly enough. Their charming historic home, set high on the mountainside, was an oasis of peace and comfort from which to enjoy the splendors of the Amalfi coast. Each morning we breakfasted like royalty in the cool of the Wisteria draped patio overlooking the gardens and mountains. From Villa Edda we were able to drive to Salerno and from their catch a boat that took us to Amalfi, Positano and a longer journey to Capri. On quieter days we took the shorter boat ride from Salerno to Amalfi from where we picked up a motor boat that in five minutes deposited us at some beautiful beaches that could only be accessed via the sea. By car we successfully navigated the famous Amalfi Coast Road (don't let the guide books put you off - take your time / be impressed with circus skills of the moped riders and use the large mirrors on the roadside to see around the corners) and enjoyed the sheer magic that is Ravello - don't miss the gardens situated at the top. By road we also were able to get to the spectacular ancient city of Pompeii and the Temple ruins of Paestum. Elvira and Fabrice were there to point us in all the right directions. We arrived as welcome guests but by the end of our stay they made us feel like old friends. Nothing was too much trouble and what became very clear was that they cared as much as we did about our vacation. It is difficult to go too wrong with restaurants but we thoroughly recommend Casa Rispoli and Ristorante La Maison Del Gusto in Cava De' Tirrine (just ten minutes from Villa Edda) - and when you just want the best pizza you have ever eaten in your life then Nonna Nannina Pizzeria Contadina - will deliver to the Villa (Fabrice ordered for us): we ate by twinkling garden lights underneath the Wisteria canopy.
This was an unforgettably beautiful and refreshing vacation - one of the best family holidays we have ever had and so much of that was due to the charm and hospitality of Elvira and Fabrice. They told us that their friends refer to their restorative home as "The Clinic" - this makes a lot of sense and we shall be returning to "The Clinic" as soon as we can!
Photos do not do this place justice. It is a truly gorgeous property from the tree-lined driveway to the sheep that graze on the grass in the morning to the glorious gardens and terraces to the interior design magazine quality interior. We spent every day going to tourist sites, but I'd love to come back for a week with several good books and just hang out at the house. The house is well-located as a base for touring Naples, the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Paestum, and Sorrento/Capri. Fabrice was a wonderful host, friendly yet unobtrusive. I can't imagine a rental property that I would rate more highly.
Among the Southern Italian landscapes, high in the hills of Salerno bay, in a close proximity between Naples,Pompei, Herculaneum, and the Amalfi Coast. Villa Edda is the perfect reference and departure point for your artistic and naturalistic itineraries. You can discover the treasures of local craftwork and gastronomic delicacies that abound in all the area around, as well as all, the beauty of the Cilento Coast, only an hour away.
