‘Il Verde’ is a ground floor apartment for five people, with one double and one twin bedroom, and a small single bedroom, measuring approximately 70m2.
It has recently been sympathetically and tastefully renovated, in keeping with the heritage of the farmhouse. The original beamed ceilings blend effortlessly with the restored antique furniture and carefully chosen ethnic pieces. The walls are colour-washed with cheering warm tones – apple green in the living areas, and a gorgeous primrose yellow in the two bedrooms. Sink into the comfortable sofas and feel instantly at home.
The cosy central living area contains a dining table for six, and a kitchen with four gas rings, an oven, a fridge freezer, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, an Italian coffee maker and a toaster. There is satellite television and an ADSL WiFi connection.
Off the living room, there is a double bedroom, a twin room with two single beds, and a third single bedroom.
The villa Casale la Torre is tucked away in the most gloriously beautiful setting between Sorrento and Massa Lubrense. This stretch of coast is part of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella, renowned for its natural landscape and history.
A traditional group of farmhouse buildings, Casale la Torre is divided into three apartments, ‘Corallo’, ‘Il Verde’ and ‘Primula’. All apartments can be rented separately, as each has a separate entrance and private outdoor space. Alternatively, the entire villa is perfect for a larger group of up to thirteen people.
You can sense the peace and serenity from the moment you reach the private parking area and turn off your car ignition. As you stroll up a short flight of wide stone steps towards the farmhouse, you can feel yourself returning to a simpler time, far from the challenges of modern life.
The farmhouse itself lies on two terraced levels of land, amidst groves of citrus and olive trees. You arrive on the lower level, where exquisite gardens spread before you. The lawned grounds are extensive, with flowers spilling from pots and the gnarled trunks of trees standing beside the farmhouse as they have for decades.
Before you, a small promontory reaches out towards the sea, home to a generous swimming pool (11m x 5m, open from May to September) and a solarium with ample recliners and parasols. The enviable panoramic views sweep in almost a full circle across the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida and the Gulf of Naples.
A sizable shaded patio area offers the perfect place for a convivial al fresco dinner during the warm summer evenings, with a wood-burning oven and traditional circular barbeque. A professionally equipped kitchen is available for your own use, or on request, the staff of Casale la Torre will be pleased to cater for your party, using traditional local recipes, and genuine DOC-certified products of the Sorrento Peninsula.
A group of 4 of us spent the last week of September at this wonderful villa set in the beautiful hillside hamlets of Masse Lubrense. Though it definitely requires a car to get to and fro, the place and it's amazing pool with vistas over the Naples Penninsula and Capri, is a welcome retreat after a day exploring the amalfi Coast and Sorrento Penninsula. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this villa again, or recommend it to friends. Our contacts at Feeling Italy were very helpful, especially on our day of arrival. After easily getting lost in the hillside villages, they escorted us to the villa. As for feedback, having a ready supply of toilet paper, dish soap, dish clothes and some basic kitchen cooking items such as salt and pepper, oils etc. would have been helpful. Also, the beds are very firm and extra pillows would have helped. Having these essentials and comforts would have definitely earned a 5 star rating. Also, due to stairs and narrow doorways, this is not an accessible property for wheelchair users or people with mobility issues. Thank you to alberto, the groundskeeper, for maintaining such a beautiful space!
Area is beautiful. Views are stunning and the weather was great.
Pool was clean and the sun beds and parasols great.
Food in the many restaurants to choose from was great.
Accommodation was basic. Ants are everywhere and need constant attention to avoid being overwhelmed. The decor and furniture are very tired and need updating. Large areas of damp which made it smell rather.
Very overpriced for the quality.
At night extremely noisy with local dogs and revellers in nearby villas.
Avoid the boat trip to Capri. Instead hire a boat yourself if you like more than a 10 minute swim!
