This property is a family haven for years. Lovingly maintained, this is our 'good karma' retreat. Nothing but good times and fond memories raising our family. We continue to love the house and only lease it periodically.
Bruce purchased this house in 2000
We have always loved Pebble Beach and raised our family during school vacations at this holiday home for over 10 years. Cozy, comfortable, clean and convenient! It is a post adobe original, with a retro kitchen and drop dead gorgeous gardens. You will not want to leave, as this property is unique. No houses on either side so you feel tremendous privacy nestled in the forest.
An amazing location! View of gorgeous manicured gardens from every room. High cathedral ceiling and majestic fireplace for a truly romantic or family vacation experience. We have spent many hours in front of the fireplace reading, listening to music or playing board games and puzzles. Steps from the famous 17 mile drive and a 10 min walk to the beach, with picnic tables (you can hear the waves at night from the front garden!). All beaches are dog friendly. The house is only a short one hour drive to Big Sur where there are wonderful hiking trails amoung old growth forests or along the majestic shoreline.
We recently stayed at this beautiful home. It was me, my husband, stepson and two small dogs. We come to this area 2-3 times per year and have rented many homes in Carmel and Pacific Grove. This was our first rental in Pebble Beach and it ranks at the top of our list for future rentals. The home is open, fresh and wonderfully relaxing. The backyard is large, was a spectacular surprise and none of the photos do it justice. Being able to bring our dogs with us particularly to this dog-friendly area is essential and this home is extremely dog friendly. (Of course, I cleaned up after them in the backyard.)
We drove to Roy's for dinner one night. It was about 5 minutes away. We spent time at Asilomar Beach which was also very close. We spent time at Carmel Beach, as well. This house is perfectly situated between Pacific Grove and Carmel.
I otherwise agree with all the other reviewers and highly recommend this property.
We have stayed at many rental houses over the past few years and this is easily in the top 3 for us. The house has everything we needed, a good kitchen with nice cooking equipment, a beautiful backyard to relax in, and it was quiet yet conveniently located to all the local attractions. None of those things may sound earth shattering, but they were enough to make us feel like we were at home versus a random strangers house. During our visit, we went to a few beaches, Laguna Seca to check out the car races, and finally the aquarium, which is a must see. Our 3 year old son loved the house and now refers to it as the "monterey house". We feel like we have our go to house for the next time we visit this area in the future.
When we arrived, we found hundreds of dead pill bugs everywhere AND an ant-nest (incl. larvae) in one of the bedrooms. We were shocked. It was so gross. Our son even found a dead pill bug in his bed. When I contacted the owner, he told me that this can happen in a house in the forrest, that we should not make a big fuss about it and clean it up ourselves.
But if this really is common in houses like these, then why didn't he have the house cleaned on the day of our arrival?
Anyway, we didn't want to disappoint our kids so we did clean the house and spend as much time on day trips as possible. The cleaning was such a frustrating start of our weekend. When we sent some pictures of 'our cleaning project' to the owner, he did apologize and offered us an extra night in his house for free. But after everything that happened, we did not want that. He also offered us a refund of the cleaning costs, which to us is a very poor gesture.
Being a San Francisco Bay Area native I've spent endless weekends over the last 30 years soaking up the scenery of the Monterey Peninsula, and each of those excursions included a stay in one of the many quaint and charming motels, hotels or inns in the Carmel area of the region. However, after our stay in this delightful retro home deep in the heart of the Del Monte Forest and two blocks from the famous 17 Mile Scenic Drive, we have found ourselves a "home-away-from-home".
Our initial plan was to hit one of our favorite Carmel restaurants each night, however that plan was scratched the moment we saw the layout of the house and the beatiful mature garden of the backyard. A quick trip to the grocery store just outside the gate provided us all the culinary accoutrements we would need, and the house and gardens the ambiance we so desired.
Everything about this property allows your senses to relax and inhale the genuine feel of Pebble Beach. It is one thing to take in an afternoon of the beauty and grandeur of The Drive, but to stay, walk and ride a bike through one of the world's most glorious gems for an extended stay is truly a rejuvenating gift.
This house does not disappoint!
My family of four had a wonderful 3 night stay at this charming house. Everything we needed was right there - including bikes and deer roaming the yard! We took numerous walks to the nearby beach, and at night listened to the bagpiper at Spanish Beach with a glass of wine at sunset. The owners were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back - and soon!
Located inside the gates of prestigious Pebble Beach, this family home is located on the exclusive Monterey Peninusla Golf Course. 10 minute walk to Spanish Bay beach (but you can hear the waves from the house). Walk to the Inn at Spanish Bay and enjoy a cocktail at sunset serenaded by bag pipers! Located just off the famous 17 Mile Drive, you can jog or ride bikes along the ocean. 10 minute drive to The Lodge at Pebble Beach or charming Carmel-by-the-Sea. There is so much to do and see! Explore tide pools, and enoy the antics of local otters, seals and deers. And don't forget to hike the spectacular Point Lobos reserve.

So many rentals are icky. Ours is a family home. It's not fancy, but its warm, clean and contemporary in styling and you'll feel right at home. Because that's the point. If you don't see the answer to your question or want to ask about special requests, please email us!
