The Citrus House is named for its many fragrant citrus trees, whose blossoms flood the grounds with their sweet scents during the spectacular spring months. There is a magical wonder about the house that one has to simply bask in to believe. Once owned by Darryl Zanuck, founder of 20th Century Fox, the Citrus House is a peaceful and comfortable oasis just steps from the wonderful downtown shopping and delicious restaurants. A word of warning though...it can be a tough property to leave :)
The comfortably charming main house features two large master bedroom suites. Through a short hallway off the beautifully appointed kitchen, the cozy bunk room (sleeps 4) includes a full bathroom, as well as it's own HD television. The Citrus House also offers 3 guest casitas, each with their own entrance - and each with a full bathroom, HD television, and tastefully designed furnishings. The three casitas are part of a separate structure which also features a view deck, where one can take in the majestic beauty of Mt. San Jacinto and the surrounding peaks.
The Citrus House includes a gourmet, state-of-the-art kitchen, ideal for entertaining and perfect for large gatherings. The large swimming pool and private jacuzzi are surrounded by comfortable designer outdoor furnishings. A large, covered, custom built wooden dining table provides an ideal setting for outdoor meals. Additional amenities include a traditional Bocci Ball court with nighttime lighting, an old steel cauldron outdoor fire pit circled by comfortable padded seating, a covered outdoor fireplace, a brand new outdoor pizza oven, a BBQ grill, 4 beach cruiser bikes, and 1 tandem bike.
Come, relax, and enjoy the sweetness of the Citrus House!

We both have a passion for design and property. Palm Springs gave us an opportunity to take a property with a lot of great history and bring back some of its magic.

Hi everybody, Just wanted to say that was the best vacation ever !!!
Everything was well organized & the country club Amentities were just so
Perfect for our group, thank you James. We can't express our wonderful Everything was, See you in November again, Betsy.
Citrus is a beautiful, warm, inviting, clean and well maintained home. Our family of 7 adults and 6 children had a wonderful week enjoying the pool, casitas (privacy), location (close to Ruth Hardy with tennis and playground; close to downtown), patio dining, hot tub, bocce ball court, fresh grapefruit juice each morning and beautiful blooms all over the yard. As others have mentioned, the road noise is an unfortunte downside of this property. Fortunately, it was drowned out by the laughter and happy screams of grandkids in the pool each day!
The Citrus House is an absolute gem. It reflects excellent taste and comfort in absolutely every area of living. It was the perfect place to bring our family together to celebrate and make memories. It was the "home away from home" I hoped to find. A dream come true for us !
My family (ages 2-92) spent a wonderful week at Citrus House. The place is beautiful, with everything you could possibly want. The beds are extremely comfortable, the kitchen has all the equipment, supplies, and doo-dads you might ever want. Silvia, who manages the property day-to-day, was extremely responsive, helping us with all the little stuff that comes up quickly and efficiently. And the citrus fruit (mostly pomelos) growing on the property were sweet and succulent! One minor issue to pay attention to if you consider renting it: The property sits on the corner of Indian Canyon Dr, which is a very busy street, and there is a lot of road noise up until mid-evening (after which it quiets down). If you're sensitive to that sort of thing, you'll want to avoid the bedrooms in the main house (the casitas are equally comfortable and dead-quiet). Overall, highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time at the Citrus House. Loved the location. House is super cozy and well maintained. And when we had a little difficulty with the heat and the plumbing, help was sent right away.
But, through normal wear and tear [believe me, we are not a rowdy family], one of the casters snapped off the leg of a very old sofa.
There was no one jumping on the sofa and no one playing on it. Someone sat down in the corner and it broke.
Easy enough to glue together.
But, the managers charged us a couple of hundred dollars to repair it!
When I inquired about it, no one returned my emails.
So, great place, but beware!!
Wow. The Citrus House was PERFECT for us. We had our family of 7 adults, 4 children and a baby gather for visiting, swimming, eating and playing in the park Thanksgiving weekend. The main house, bunk bed room and 3 casita rooms, each with bath, provided space for everyone's privacy. The house and outdoors have spacious gathering places for the whole gang. The kitchen was well stocked with every pot, pan and utensil you could think of plus spices and other condiments. We cooked meals all weekend and entertained some local family members easily. The outdoor spaces are beautifully kept and pool and hot tub - Perfect. The kids enjoyed picking fruit too. Fortunately Palm Springs has beautiful weather most of the time, to enjoy the outdoors. We had a little rain and cool evenings, so enjoyed the well-working fireplaces as well. An easy trip to the park was a must after those meals. The place is beautifully maintained. Malia, Sylvia and Salvador are exceptionally easy to work with - kind and good people. The family is begging to stay again.
The Citrus House exceeded our expectations and created a wonderful environment for our family vacation!
The owners are easy to work with, it is in a great location, and the house is well maintained. The park that is a short walk from the house is beautiful as well!
They take great pains to care for the lawn and garden and create a little oasis for you. The only downer is how close it is to a busy street, but that ended up not being an issue for us at all. There is also plenty of space. We had 5 adults and 5 kids and it worked great!
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway & New Knotts Soak City Water Park. Plenty of great golf courses, and tons of shopping! Restaurants all close to our estate, and easy walking distance.
