About Chad

My wife and I have vacationed in the Adirondack Region, mostly around Lake George, since we were children. When we were ready to buy our own camp, we chose the Great Sacandaga Lake because it was as large as Lake George, but much more quiet and less commercial. We love it here.

Chad purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Chad chose Lake Luzerne

We purchased our own home (across the street) many years ago, so it made sense to purchase and renovate this camp, being so close to our own home.

What makes this cabin unique

Direct lake frontage - no crossing busy roads to get to the lake! Dead end street, serene setting, great for children and pets!

This place gave up on itself...

  • 2 of 5

Alright so I've been renting this house for a few years now , I enjoyed it everytime for the first few years of staying here There used to be kayaks for us too use , there was a lot of kitchen supplies , it was much cleaner. But things suddenly went downhill for this place, there's a lot of things the owner should work on like fixing the grill - the grill temperature control broke so it stays very hot at a high temperature and burns what ur cooking , the second thing that needs to be fixed is the sitting area - there's so much space put more areas to sit in the living room there's only one couch. Thirdly , the owner should put back all the kitchen supplies like more pots and more utensils there's only like 2 pots - lastly , this place should be a little more cleaner the dishes were very greasy and the utensils were also greasy . (There should also be like a broom in this house too) this place suddenly just went down hill it started off so great and its just getting worse threw out the years. I'm not happy with this vacation house and I'm thinking of not returning please make changes to this house it's a small house with a lot of space use the space make it more comfortable for us visitors. Thankyou

Beautiful cottage - great spot

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful cabin- all redone inside. Awesome dock - my kids loved jumping into the lake right from there. Bring water shoes if you plan to walk into the water. There is a public boat launch about 5 minutes away called Magestic Mountain that we used to launch our boat. There is a fire pit, and stone steps that lead to the water. The layout outside is a bit steep, so if you are elderly or have knee problems this might not be the place for you. However, for any normal able bodied person it's fine!! There is no cable there but the wifi seemed fine as long as only one person was using it at a time. There is a DVD player- we brought movies for nighttime. There is a great screened in porch where we played board games. This house is in a fairly remote spot. There is a small grocery store in Hadley- about 20 minutes away. The house is about 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs (we ate dinner downtown there one night) and 30 minutes away from the main drag of Lake George. The house was clean and has a washer and dryer which was handy! There is only one couch in the living room area- but it is a sleeper sofa so we just left it out all week and four of us layed on it to watch movies at night. I recommend you bring some lawn chairs if you like to sit outside. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook meals. There is a large grill with gas hooked up to it from the house. It is a very peaceful spot with nice views from the dock. Chad was very attentive also! Enjoy!!

its okay..you are really paying for the lake.

  • 3 of 5

Rented this cabin with 7 friends for memorial day weekend, and let's just say 7 is the max adult you can really have. If you have more kids than adults maybe you can have 8 total. The house looks clean but it really wasn't, guess they weren't ready for visitors as many things were broken or dirty. There wasn't much entertainment indoors since it rained on us for a whole day, luckily we brought some cards with us and of course wifi helped, but it;s very weak so streaming can block everyone else. kitchen was small and seating was upstairs on the screen porch, but not convenient. As my title say, you really is paying for the lake. The view is awesome, the dock was nice. It would be nicer if there was some kayaks, boats or life jackets for us to use. Also a paved stone walkway down to the fire pit and then to the water would be nice and safer as it's quite steep and when it's wet very slippery. Owner is aware of the issues we had in the cabin and is fixing the problem..

Excellent Escape!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time! Everything was available that we needed. I was even more surprised to see the Kayaks and the row boat. I must have missed them in the picture. The guests and grandchildren had a great time too. I strongly recommend instant messaging via the internet as cell service is not good. I would also suggest another stairwell from the back patio area leading down to the fire pit. It is a bit slick early in the morning with the wet grass.

all you need

  • 5 of 5

it's just a small house but has everything needed to enjoy the lake. 4 beds upstairs, master on main level, two full baths, and an capable kitchen. everything is clean. there's a huge grill, firepit overlooking the lake, and a great new composite dock. down at the quiet calm end of the lake for skiing and smallies. one of the few properties that has lake access well off north or south shore main road. it's great

It's all about the view...and that dock!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a week in the early summer, and brought two jet skis and a boat. Everything fit on the dock (deep water) beautifully, with ample room to swim (water temperature was surprisingly nice for late June in the mountains) and pull the Adirondack chairs out for reading and just zoning out... The view from the screened-in porch, downstairs patio, and dock was very lovely - among one of the more scenic spots on the lake in a quieter section, up by the dam at the north end. The interior of the cottage is in good condition, and was kept very clean. Laundry machines onsite worked great, internet works (not blazing fast, but who cares - you're at the lake!), kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and grilling, radiant floor heating was nice on chilly mornings. There was enough room to park a small trailer and a couple of cars in the driveway. We found the property owner to be very responsive to our questions, even during our stay. Closest supplies are in Corinth - just 10 minutes away, by car.

We thought the setup worked well for an adult couple plus another adult. It would also work for a couple plus some kids. With smaller upstairs beds, it's not quite as ideal for two couples, if you want "equal" accommodations. My only other criticism would be the path from the cottage to the dock is either grass (at an odd angle) or gravel (at a steep grade) - hauling gear down to the dock, you need to step carefully.

Overall, we enjoyed this place, and will strongly consider staying again next summer.
