The Bayou Log Cabin is a genuine 1100 square foot cabin and located along the banks of Davis Bayou. The Bayou Log Cabin is situated under live oaks on a quiet and tranquil bend in the bayou. It is nestled right next door to the owners' home at the back of a small neighborhood. Life at the cabin is easy and comfortable, much like a tall glass of iced tea on a warm summer evening. With its open and airy floor plan, you never feel boxed in, and with the full length back porch, you can sit and watch the wildlife of the bayou go about their daily routine.
A drive of a few minutes will get you to any one of our downtown eateries or boutiques. We live right next door to the cabin and are long-time residents of Ocean Springs. There are so many things about Ocean Springs that we love...the friendliness of the people, Tato Nut doughnuts, boat rides to the islands, kayak rides on the bayou, shopping downtown, the harbor on summertime weekends, etc.
Wendy Hollingsworth purchased this cabin in 2013
This property is located in the city limits and at the back of a small neighborhood, but from the back porch, it feels like it is nestled in a quiet country setting. The deep back porch is a great place to unwind with a good book or just to watch the tide roll in and out. Your coffee just tastes better on the back porch of the cabin. And, if you need anything, we are right next door to help.
The place was everything we dreamed a log cabin should be. Very comfy & spacious. Our needs erreanticipated well.
We recently stayed at the Davis Bayou log cabin while looking for a home. It was nice to stay in a homey atmosphere. The owners were very accommodating & friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!
Loved our stay at the cabin. Very quiet and relaxing. Cabin was nicely stocked with breakfast items, fruit and coffee. We loved having access to the kayak and being able to explore the bayou.
We were a little disappointed, but overall it was a nice place to stay. Convenient to our needs. I would suggest if anyone is looking for a quiet get away, this would not be a good location. You are more part of a neighborhood; kids playing in the front yard, neighbors coming and going, lots of activity around. We were hoping for a quiet peaceful get away from people in general. The cabin is tastefully decorated, the scenery is nice, great vacation spot for someone with kids. In all fairness, we have a place in alaska, and are from denver, now residing in the northern houston area, in the country. Our expectations were greater than they should have been for Mississippi. I would recommend the stay to families in general
We stayed at the cabin while our youngest son attended Shark Camp at the USM Gulf Coast Research Lab. The cabin was clean and as described. It was stocked with a great selection of snacks (fruit, breakfast bars), Keurig pods, and DVDs. Wendy and Kevin were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The Ocean Springs and Biloxi Beaches were a short drive and the cabin provided a different experience from our normal beach vacation. We were able to see red foxes, raccoons, and turtles in the yard, and a gator in the water just off the dock. Depending on the bait used, we were able to catch both fresh water (bream) and salt water (croaker, hardhead catfish, gar) fish - dead shrimp worked best (Thanks to Kevin for the suggestion!). We had a great time and would definitely stay again.
My family and I stayed at the Bayou Cabin recently for a quick trip to the gulf coast for my daughter's college orientation. It is located at the end of a small very quiet neighborhood on the banks of the bayou. Everything was just as advertised, spotlessly cleaned and perfectly decorated. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen was stocked with all the appliances, pots, and pans you would need. Every morning at daylight, I sat on the back porch drinking coffee and watching squirrels chase each other. The Keurig coffee maker was a great addition. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again when in the area.
