I'm owner in Royal Properties Real Estate company. I like to find best places to my Clients and Friends for vacation and for the lifetime. I'm enjoying living in Caribbean paradise - Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Come and try it. You will love this beautiful spot on the Earth.
I had a great experience at El Faro. The unit was had a nice view and comfortably large. There were a couple of items in the unit that needed maintenance but when the issue arose, Yasmin sent people over immediately to have them rectified. I was very pleased with the response. I would return again and recommend this place!
This was our first trip to Playa DEL Carmen. El Faro is located on the beach one block from 5th avenue and ANYTHING you want to do, or buy. The beach bar right there is FABULOUS, not only for great drinks, but the food was awesome.
I suggest bringing your own towels and bath rags. We each had one apiece, all week. Also, bring your own soap.
We made a quick trip to Walmart, via Taxi, and picked up a few things. (I.e. Coffee, sugar, drinks)
Our A/C was not working when we opened the room, but I had requested Jasmine to accompany us to see the room before we accepted. She immediately had someone from maintenance come up. After a couple of hrs, he had it working. Jasmine also sent up a fresh jug of water. She will take care of you for your needs.
Some friends were staying at Grand Sirenis, but came everyday to hang with us due to our location.
Fabulous restaurants up and down every street. Everyone we tried had wonderful food and drink.
Don't be afraid to take the ADO bus from airport to PDC. Takes about an hr and cost $11/each. Very comfortable. We took a bicycle taxi to El Faro, about 5 blocks, for $3, from the bus station.
We also spent all USDs and used credit card. No problems.
If you want sand between your toes, great food and drinks, El Faro is your place.
The unit has a amazing view and the breeze never stopped while we were there, the properties pool is very nice and the security personal where friendly and helpful by getting small tables for us to rest our drinks on when using the chairs on the beach. Ton's of close restaurants and one I would recommend close to the unit but not on 5th is Plank, great ambience and service.
Walmart, the ferry to Cozumel, and a local rental car agency all are within walking distance.
This unit is the perfect location! It's right on the beach and a block from 5th avenue where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. The unit itself is in great condition and the staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful with any questions we had. The pool is great and not crowded at all. We found a spot everyday we went down. As to one of the previous reviews about it being loud, we didn't experience any of that. Yes, there is some noise from the street and the restaurant across the way, but it's nothing you wouldn't experience at your own home. We had no problem sleeping or being in the unit and being bothered by noise. I would definitely recommend this unit and if we plan another trip to Playa, this will be our go to rental!
We just got back from El Faro staying in Surf 406 and overall I was very please with everything. I would also stay in this unit again. Property Manager was very easy to deal with and even though our first night we stayed next door, due to a mix up it didn't matter. We were on vacation, we go with the flow and it all worked out. Place was spotless, air conditioner worked great, Once we figure out hot was to the right not left we had great showers. My only complaint and its not even a complaint really was that the coffee pot they had we could not find any filters anywhere that would fit it. Not even at Walmart. We ended up meeting another couple who brought their own from home and let us borrow enough and in fact I left the rest for the next guests that would be staying there. Hopefully the cleaning lady left them there.
Beach was great, have to get down between 7-8 to put your towel down, security was excellent at checking that only guests use the chairs on beach and pool. I read reviews about seaweed and i didn't see a problem. They cleaned it in the morning. It was easy to walk into the ocean which was a plus because we could not do that in Cancun. I would never go back to Cancun after going to Playa.
We would definitely rent this unit again and we absolutely loved the location of El Faro. And we LOVED Playa del Carmen
We bought our snorkeling excursion from Walmart, cheaper than on 5th ave, and er went to rio secreto for cave hiking which was amazing. Oh LaLa for husbands bday dinner and Alux should not be missed. Its not on 5th, its a real restaurant in a cave and it was amazing. Food was great and the whole experience was just one you can't miss. We never had a bad meal at any place we picked and we are pretty picky eaters.
The unit at first blush was great with a great location however after living in it for eight days the little things pop up. The property manager showed us the unit demonstrating the use of the electricity cards and AC however we needed to call him back to show us how to use the in-room safe (instructions were in Spanish). Alexander was very patient with us however he did not show us the satellite TV as if he had, he would've found that they did not work. We found out that there was service available by talking to other residents. There was a broken wire outside the unit that they serviced quickly. However the main TV, only lasted two days before it didn't work again. The residence is right on the beach and the pool was fabulous-however many tiles are missing. There are no handrails into the pool and the steps steep so for myself with knee problems, I needed to find a spot where I could hang on to something. The unit/residence is just like the published photos. The unit faces the street where diving air tanks are unloaded every morning at 7 AM so we could hear the tanks being hauled and dragged around. It is also close to the clubs so the bass of the music can be heard nightly. On Halloween, the music and revelry lasted until 6 AM. I sleep with ear plugs so with the doors closed, it was just the underlying beat that could be heard. The kitchen only had three plates, only two matching. Except for wine glasses, no matching glasses and one was cracked. It was nice that there were food storage containers provided to discourage unwanted pests. The mattress is very firm but we were fine with that. The bed did not have a mattress pad and the sheets were queen flats on a king-sized bed so retucking was a daily and nightly occurrence. There was one firm and one fluffy pillow. There are two bathrooms and both showers could use a little drain opener as they were slow draining. The staff at the residences were very friendly and helpful. Security was good and we often saw them checking to make sure only registered guests were onsite. Our eight days did not include maid service. After losing an earring under the bed, I found about 10 tortilla chips under it. Fearing to attract bugs, we moved the bed to sweep up. The location is just a short walk to 5th Avenue so it was easy to walk everywhere. Yes we would stay here again as it had everything we needed. The unit is for sale so a little maintenance would be helpful.
