Casa Bella Vista: Great, beautiful contemporary Mexican-style 3-storey house with gorgeous views, in a very safe neighborhood. Nice comfortable private rooms with real beds (matrimonial in 3 bedrooms + queen in Master BR). Big balcony off 2nd floor. Te Master Bedroom as a 40" smart tv, and wonderful view as it gives onto the balcony. The 3rd floor has a huge 40' x 20' deck with great views of the city, perfect for entertaining. Great, large kitchen, and spacious Dining Room, Living Room. Beautiful tiled full bathroom on the main floor, and on the second floor as well. Parking for 2 cars, very nice garden with native plants. Quiet cul-de-sac, and safe, friendly neighborhood. It's a 15-20 minute leisurely walk to Centro. Buses are readily available for 5 pesos (40 cents) and you can easily flag a taxi to go back and forth for 35 pesos ($2.40) to Centro. Internet WIFI (fiber optic), home phone. Because it is perched on a hill, the house is always comfortable (not too hot, not too cold) and gets a lot of light. The guests rooms all have windows that open to the interior shaft for air ventilation. With its panoramic views from both the balcony and the deck, you see the sunrise, and the sunset. Solar h/w.
(Available as B&B only from Oct. till Feb. for $45/room per night.)
Originally from rural Quebec (1 1/2 hour from Quebec City), I'm an Artist Painter/Scenic Artist from Vancouver. After traveling in different areas of Asia and Latin America in the past 10 years, I chose Guanajuato as my second home for its incredible light, colours, consistently sunny and warm weather, very friendly locals, very safe city, rich culture, and proximity to home (all the things I don't want to live without). I bought the house recently, and I see it as as wonderful and inspiring place for artists and innovative minds. I like that it's truly Mexican with tiles from renowned Dolores Hidalgo 1 hour away. During my travels, I found that a home away from home was important, and that's what I want to provide for people. It's also a good base for going to other wonderful cities like Guadalajara and Mexico City. I have a daughter in her 20's and her and I shared custody of a very loving MinPin Chihuahua, until they both moved to Montreal. I miss them both very much, and plan to visit a lot. Life is very short. Why not live it! I lived in Germany in my 20's, where my daugher was born, so I understand a certain level of German. And of course, I make my way in Spanish.
Martine Bilodeau purchased this house in 2011
This house is such an inspiration for artists! I painted 30 paintings in 3 months from the terrasse and its fantastic views. The Balcony also is a great place to chill and has great views as well. The house is very spacious, and always comfortable.
My neighours are all established and invested in the neighborhood, many from the same large family so we all watch for each other. It's a very safe place to be, away from the traffic and crowd. The view from the very spacious Master Bedroom would make anyone fall in love with the place.
Martine was a fabulous host. We go to Guanajuato frequently as my husband grew up there. The house worked perfect for us as it is 3 houses away from my inlaws' and close to center via foot, car/cab or bus. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Plenty of hot water from the solar water heater. Just like the city, this house is full of charm. Thanks again, Martine!
The house is beautiful, clean and well ubicated near the Momias museum. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. However the best is how Martina, the owner treats and takes care of her guests. She was kind and very thoughtful of our needs. Thank you Martina. God bless you.
It's our 2 time to stay at Martine home she was gracious as ever ,her home is beautiful & clean in the middle of Guanajuato with spectacular views of city every morning begins with fruit of Mexico,,bread & fresh ground coffee
if I stay in a homeaway in Guanajuato again I know where to call.
Casa Bella Vista is a beautiful and comfortable house. The views form the balcony and the patio at the top of the house are amazing. The house was really clean, and every thing was ready and perfectly set up to be used. My family and I loved the kitchen and bathrooms because they were big, spacey, and decorated with beautiful mexican talavera.. The house is located at the very top of a hill with narrow and steep roads. To go to Downtown Guanajuato, my family and I walked down the hill for about 20 min.
I absolutely will rent this beautiful house again, and recommend it to families and friends.
We absolutely loved our stay in this great house in GTO. The house was even bigger and better than we expected. It was very clean. The beds and bedding were super comfortable and the kitchen had everything you could think of to make you feel at home.
The property manager called me ahead of time to plan for our arrival. He was very friendly and easily reached.
I would definitely recommend this WONDERFUL house to others.
The only things that I can think to be improved upon would be - 1) more comfortable furniture in the living room for lounging with the family and 2) a way to prevent the upstairs (rooftop) door from rattling back and forth with the wind.
Lovely, absolutely lovely!
I enjoyed my vacations in Guanajuato with all my family, the house is beautiful with big bedrooms and everything was clean, is really close to down town. The road is a little complicate with big cars but is a safe neighborhood.
I would stay in the same hose for my next vacation.
20 minutes hike to Zona Centro, near Mommias Museum. On your walk to Zona Centro, you can see the Alhondiga Museum, Hidalgo market, Commercial, Jardin Reforma, and Plaza San Francisco ( very quiet park with restaurants), and the Diego Riviera and Frida Khalo house/museum (tucked on a side street). There are small local grocery shops 2 minutes from the house, and 5 minutes down is the Tepetapa street with its many diverse small shops. The walk is very easy to the Centro, but it's easier to take a taxi back home (for 30 pesos or $2.40), cause it's fairly steep, or take the readily available bus (5 pesos or $0.40) up the Tepetapa (Take the Mommias or Nuevo Panteon, and then hike the last 5 minutes. If you take the Mommias, you can stay on the bus to go around the hill all the way up to the sign that says 'Bano' just above the museum Mommias. It will save you the hike along the Panteon Wall.
A typical day is to have a smoothie and breakfast in the house in the morning, then stroll down to the Centro and visit, stopping along for a snack at the Hidalgo Mercado; then visit some more, and have an afternoon 3-course meal (drink included) for $5-$7 in one of the nice small restaurants close to University, then slowly make your way back, shopping for your night meal at the Hidalgo Mercado, and take the bus or taxi back on time to catch some more sun and watch the sunset by 6pm. (Downtown gets very cool in the shade after 2pm, but the house has the sun all day).
