Originally built as a fishing cabin in 1920, this newly updated shanty is loaded with all the modern amenities: WiFi, TV, Cable, Ipod Player, phone, gas stove, fully stocked kitchen, wood burning stove, hammock, outdoor fireplace, and charcoal grill.
Our cabin is nestled in a little historical neighborhood called Rio Nido. River access is 5-10 minute walk through neighborhood.
Good for launching a kayak, swimming, and fishing.
It's a nice little spot. 2 miles from downtown Guerneville, Armstrong redwoods, and Korbel. 15 miles to the coast and many wineries.
We are from San Francisco and recently moved to Sonoma County.
We appreciate comfortable and creative environments.
We love our summers at the river and you will too.
Taylor Brown purchased this cabin in 2012
We have been visiting this area for years and love what Guerneville has to offer. With it's towering redwoods, neighboring vineyards, lazy river, and a short drive to the Pacific ocean, we could not have picked a better spot.
The neighborhood has a historical musical significance. From the roaring 1920's orchestra bands to the hip 1960's Grateful Dead, Rio Nido was the hub for great music on the Russian River.
Amazingly quiet and serene among the redwood trees. The house was cozy and offered everything I needed to live away from home for several days. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice, quiet get away!
Very cute cabin with a lovely garden, perfect for a quiet get away. The place was well maintained, clean and stocked with anything you may need but aren't likely to bring with you. The owners did a great job setting up the cabin and they were very friendly and great to deal with. We would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back.
We loved Sequoia House!! It's hard to find a place that's just perfect for a couple and this place was it. Arriving during the day made it super easy to find. Again, the photos don't do it justice. Outstanding eye for detail and caretakers are very intuitive. The house had everything that we needed. Great modern amenities (although we never turned on the television). We could not get enough of the Redwoods spending every night outside enjoying a bottle of wine, the fire-pit and, most of all, the peace and quiet. Lovely view from every window. Taylor was super easy to work with and very helpful Questions were communicated by text or email with almost immediate responses. We hope we have the opportunity to visit Sequoia House again!
I was very pleased on arrival. The cabin is beautifully decorated and remodeled making it very comfortable. It was also very clean. I cooked in the kitchen several times during my visit and found everything I needed. I really appreciated having the filtered water available. The bedroom is on the smaller side but the open living room more than makes up for it. I was here for Vineman 70.3 and found the quiet perfect while also not being too far from the event and entertainment. Note that there is no cell reception at the cabin (at least not for Verizon or AT&T).
Sonoma County was our home for 20 years until we bought a home in Las Vegas 10 years ago..Getting back to the Sequoia House for 12 days was the perfect place for my wife and I and our pup...It's quiet, clean, charming, romantic and rejuvenating...we aren't sightseers, we were raised for over 50 years on the Russian River, so it's all about relaxing, having old friends over for dinner, reading a good book in a hammock under the redwoods, and hunting down bargains in the area boutiques...The Sequoia House was the center of any activity. Taylor & Kevin provide a real home away from home. We're looking forward to summer 2017 at the Sequoia House.

We spent 3 days at the Sequoia House in June. It was a wonderful space for the two of us. I think it would be a squeeze for 4 in the kitchen and breakfast nook, but there is lovely outdoor seating if the weather is nice. It is an older cabin, but we found it to be well maintained and decorated, including fresh flowers on the table. The area was quiet which made enjoying the back yard very relaxing.
As I am recovering from a broken leg, I pay more attention to accessibility, so I will mention that, like most houses in the area, there is a flight of stairs that must be climbed to get to the cabin. I had no trouble with them, there were handrails on both sides, but just an FYI. The cabin itself is a single level so no problem there. The bed is against a wall so accessible from one side and the foot only.
We truly enjoyed our stay, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a few meals we chose to have at home. The wi-fi worked well and there are plenty of choices of seating to relax inside and out when you want to take a break from sight-seeing and wine tasting.
We left the house at 10am on our last day and by noon we had received an email that our deposit had been refunded. Can't ask for better service than that!
