Originally built as a fishing cabin in 1920, this newly updated shanty is loaded with all the modern amenities: WiFi, TV, Cable, Ipod Player, phone, gas stove, fully stocked kitchen, wood burning stove, hammock, outdoor fireplace, and charcoal grill.
Our cabin is nestled in a little historical neighborhood called Rio Nido. River access is 5-10 minute walk through neighborhood.
Good for launching a kayak, swimming, and fishing.
It's a nice little spot. 2 miles from downtown Guerneville, Armstrong redwoods, and Korbel. 15 miles to the coast and many wineries.
We are from San Francisco and recently moved to Sonoma County.
We appreciate comfortable and creative environments.
We love our summers at the river and you will too.
Taylor Brown purchased this cabin in 2012
We have been visiting this area for years and love what Guerneville has to offer. With it's towering redwoods, neighboring vineyards, lazy river, and a short drive to the Pacific ocean, we could not have picked a better spot.
The neighborhood has a historical musical significance. From the roaring 1920's orchestra bands to the hip 1960's Grateful Dead, Rio Nido was the hub for great music on the Russian River.
I really can't say enough good things. Very comfortable, clean and beautiful space. Lots of thoughtful details, like stocking some firewood and shampoo for guest use. Really happy to have found this spot!
The Sequoia house is all the charm the pictures show and then some! Every detail was incredibly thoughtful. Including our approach to the house, where we saw lovely lights that helped to identify the house easily. The fresh flowers and the decor choices both inside and out were magnificent. You could feel the intention in every decision. It made our trip feel incredibly special. My wife and I enjoyed our first weekend away in 6 years since having kids. It felt as though the Sequoia House was made for our weekend.
We enjoyed the home on a rainy weekend. Although I was looking forward to the Hammock, the rain coming down on the sky lights is a sound permanently imprinted in my memory. Pure joy. The redwoods in the back yard were also a treasure to see as the rain clouds ducked in and out of the branches.
We were able to book private massages and enjoy the serenity of the home you have created. As well, some peaceful naps! We also enjoyed the proximity to Guernville as well as the lovely drive out to Jenner. Thank you for sharing it with us. We will definitely be staying again.
This place is a great mix of old rustic meets modern convenience! Very clean and lots of details throughout! Great little wood stove provides a toasty little hide-a-way! Located near Red Wood grove, for some nice forest hiking, 30 minutes to the ocean and beaches, more hiking, Bodega Bay about 60 minutes for fish and chips, clam chowder, and whale watching, and plenty of wineries nearby. Also a brewery within 2 miles, with large deck overlooking Russian River! Very clean is always a bonus!
Second time staying at The Sequoia House. Every detail is perfect and it could not be a more relaxing home and location. I feel so recharged after my weekend and Taylor is lovely to work with. Highly recommend!
I adore this cabin, it was hard to leave. The photos don't do this place justice. The entire time I found myself saying things like, "I love this painting. I love this pillow. I love this rug. I love this blanket. Etc." Definitely a cozy place to stay. The neighborhood is adorable. The backyard is amazing. The decor is warm and lovely. The bed and couch are comfy. It's in a great location. The coffee was wonderful. I could go on saying great things about this place. We went to Armstrong Woods, Stumptown Brewery, and other places nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
