Overview

About the property

Adjacent to State Forest, Minutes to Mendocino and Ocean

This 700 square foot cottage is located on 5 secluded acres and was designed and built entirely by the owners. The cottage includes many special touches such as open beamed ceilings milled with local redwood. The cottage has tons of natural light. A wood pellet stove provides cozy heat and ambiance with the push of a button. There are also electric heaters in the bedroom and bathroom for additional warmth.

The cabin includes a private outdoor shower equipped with hot water, a private deck, an indoor claw foot bathtub and a compact yet full kitchen. The bedroom is outfitted with a brand new Leesa bed. There is also a twin bed which is perfect for kids. An additional futon with bedding is available to sleep a fourth person.

We are very kid friendly. Let us know and we will get out our trikes and cars for your child. We also have a very friendly dog but she stays on our side of the property most of the time.

We are also happy to provide recommendations for dining, beaches, trails or whatever else you are interested in seeing.

Jackson State Forest is our next door neighbor. There is a trail that leads from the property into the forest and we will leave you a map. Located ten minutes north of Mendocino and ten minutes south of Fort Bragg and five minutes from what we think is the best beach in the area.

Very clean, quiet and cozy cabin!

  • 4 of 5

I loved the cabin and location. We went during the rainy season in February 2017. Everything was very nice and comfortable inside. Bring book's or DVD's :)

Everything we expected and much more!

  • 5 of 5

A HUGE Thank You to our hosts! Our stay included everything we expected and much more! For our first visit to the area, we could not have found more suitable accommodations. I think thoughtful best describes the hosts, as everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay was thoughtfully provided. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful property and perfect cottage.

The cottage was excellent. The place was great in the woods. The hosts Jake and Melinda were great

  • 5 of 5

The place was a way out the way in the forest. The details to make it warm and inviting was all there. It was close enough to Mendocino and Ft Bragg.

Enjoyed everything about the place and look forward to going back.

Cozy cabin in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a getaway that would be relaxing and would allow us to bring our dog. This cabin was exactly what we needed. Even though it rained, poured actually, during out stay, we were cozy and warm inside. The cabin is clean, the kitchen is well-enough equipped, and the stove and oven work. We were able to prepare our meals, and the town of Mendocino was close enough to go and wander through. All-in-all we were very happy during our stay and would consider returning.

Delightful Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is lovely! The claw foot tub and wood stove made our stay during December quite cozy. We enjoyed the movie collection as well as exploring the local beaches and forests. The town of Mendocino was also great to visit and we had some delicious food in Fort Bragg. The property where the cabin is located feels remote but is quite close to many area attractions. We would stay here again! And the hosts left us holiday cookies and fresh flowers!

Cozy Cottage in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Very peaceful setting with walking trails at the end of the driveway. Cottage is cozy with a warm fire awaiting your arrival and bottle of local Pinot! We enjoyed three nights of peace and quiet for our 40th anniversary. The cottage is private even though the hosts and their children are on the same property. The kitchen is tiny but very functional. We have been coming to the Mendocino/Fort Bragg area for over 30 years, this was our first time here and would return. Because of the distance from both Mendocino and Fort Bragg (which are actually within 15 minutes) and the darkness of the Caspar area, we chose to dine out for lunch and cook our dinner meals in. Fresh fish from the wharf is abdundant and fresh produce as well.

Thank you to the Maddens for a wonderful, peaceful, "unplugged" three days!
