Located about six and a half miles from downtown, this sunny and cute one bedroom restored farmhouse is just off the Boise River Greenbelt, on a one-acre corner lot. Perfect for a couple or small family looking for a convenient vacation home near the river, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and the many other outdoor attractions Boise has to offer, this quaint but well-stocked cottage has both an urban and rural appeal!
The lovely new deck with pergola greets you out front. As you step through the doors, a soothing interior awaits. A small breakfast nook right by the window is the ideal spot for enjoying a homemade breakfast or light dinner; the open, cheerful kitchen has everything needed for meal preparation. You'll feel right at home in this bright space as refill your coffee cup, grab another buckwheat pancake, and head back to the dining table to finish reading the paper.
Neutral earth tones with bursts of color compose the cozy living room. There's seating for all in this pleasant space, as well as plush carpeting and plenty of windows for an abundance of natural light. For times when you're not outside strolling along the greenbelt, you can relax on the couch with a good book. There is also a flatscreen TV with cable and a DVD player for movie nights. Just make the popcorn and you're all set!
The bedroom is located in the back of the house and holds a queen-sized bed decked out in fresh new linens and a red floral print cover for a restful night's sleep. Small bedside tables, decorative reading lamps, and built-in drawers complete the room, along with a lovely Bentwood rocking chair. The bathroom has been recently remodeled and has a shower. In addition to the queen bed, the living room couch pulls out to a very comfortable full sized bed for kids or a second couple, so this house can accommodate up to four guests.
Even though the space is small, there is a lot of character and stylish designer touches throughout, such as modern, floral lamps and quiet seating areas. There is also a washer and dryer for your use, as well as a convenient mud room for storing bikes and hiking boots when not in use. And if you have a furry family member, one dog is welcome here, though a nightly fee per dog and a minimum fee per stay will apply. Although, please be aware that this house is located between a somewhat busy commuter street and a downhill canal; the yard is large but unfenced, so children and dogs should always be supervised when outside.
In the summer, head right next door to Barber Park with your inner tubes for a fun afternoon of floating down the Boise River. Less than a mile and a half from the house, you can enjoy an evening outside watching the Bard's greatest works at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. The season runs in repertory June through September and is fun for the whole family.
For more outdoor adventure, bring your bikes for a scenic ride around town or in the nearby foothill trails. Perfect for after dinner strolls or early morning jogs, the Boise Greenbelt Trail is 22 miles of gorgeous tree-lined pathway that follows the along river with picturesque views of the city anytime of year. Also nearby, Lucky Peak is only six miles away for boating, fishing, swimming or just having a lazy, afternoon picnic in the sun.
In addition to making the short drive into downtown Boise, there are many restaurants and shops in Bown Crossing, about a mile and a half from the house. Pick up some Snake River Organic Brown Ale at Bier:Thirty or treat yourselves to a steak dinner at the Tavern at Bown Crossing.
When you're looking for a outdoor getaway to Boise that's close to hiking, biking, theater, or just fun on the river, look no further than this cute, little Barber Park Cottage!

Vacasa - Vacation Rentals Made Easy:
Professionally managed and cleaned homes
Local assistance 24/7 for emergencies
Secure INSTANT booking
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
The house is within walking distance of a great park on the river. A great spot for walking, jogging or just relaxing.
Good little place in a great location except for the busy intersection. But, the house is insulated well and traffic slows down enough to sit on the front porch and enjoy watching the sunset light up the mountains. Bring a tie down for your pooch if you plan on hanging outside.. no fence. Overall, this cottage in Boise was charming and comfortable. We would stay here again!
The Barber Park cottage is perfect for us. Close to our son and his family. A short walk to the Boise River and the Park. Comfortable and affordable...very nice.
ps. A covey of quail in the back yard!
The landlord was very nice and responsive. The place was well furnished with items you would want for a week. Everything was tidy and clean. Our only complaints regarded things that were inconvenient, such as having the television too high and at an angle that was uncomfortable for viewing; so many decorative pillows that we piled them up out of the way; the seats of the chairs at the kitchen table were sprung and should be replaced. If you are planning to do the laundry, be sure you careful on the stairs; they are uneven and there's no railing. The location was convenient to area attractions.
