I was raised here and I am all about the water and natural beauty of this area. I like my life to be simple and uncluttered. I tried the corporate world but I was drawn right back home. I purchased this cottage becuase it represents the lifestyle, simple. Not many places left that you will get this feeling.
Chirs purchased this cottage in 1999
This cottage is one of the original houses on the island. It has all the original cottage charm of the beach with modern touches including a completely remodeled and gorgeous kitchen. I picked this property because when I was growing up my good friends lived in this neighboorhood so when I was looking for a second home I gravitated here. This neighborhood seems to be off the radar and away from loud tourist. No late night noise, no traffic, just gulf breezes and the songs of the birds.
This cottage sits on its own lot, so you have your own private home. Most smaller places share common areas or are off shoots of the owners house. This cottage has it own yard and convenient outdoor hot and cold shower in the backyard. The deck has a pleasant mix of shaded tree coverage and sun. The little shed converts to a private bar so you can entertain guest. Nothing better than a cold beer in your own outdoor bar after a day at the beach. Trolley picks you up (FREE) to take you everywhere on the Island or enjoy a leisurely bike. I even had a tenant write a novel while living here, it is that quiet.
My wife and I were looking for a place to stay for a proper getaway. We loved the location: a 3 minute walk from a peaceful, pretty street to a quiet stretch of beautiful beach. We loved the house: a historic cottage with bags of old Florida character but a 21st century kitchen, A/C and plenty of water pressure (inside and out). We loved the service: the owner was very helpful, leaving us to our own devices but taking the care to think of everything we would need - glasses, pans, cupboard essentials and even beach toys. Perfect place for a couple wanting a relaxing home from home.
Home was in a quiet neighborhood, safe environment, very clean, comfortable, easy walk to Gulf of Mexico beaches or Bay. Convenient to shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and tourist sites.
Owner made you feel very welcomed.
We hated to leave this charming cottage at Bradenton Beach. We spent the month of January 2014 there and loved it. The place seemed larger than the pictures and was equipped with everything we needed and very nicely decorated. It's location is ideal - two blocks to the beautiful Golf beach and two blocks from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. We loved biking and riding the free trolley to explore all of Anna Maria Island.
We had just come off of a year+ of nonstop running when we arrived at this cottage on Anna Maria Island in a state of exhaustion. "RELAX" would be the banner I would put over this place - and indeed, the owner has proclaimed that intent with a kitchen decor item with the word 'relax' on it. The visit for us was functional, helping our son move to the area, but the cottage was a perfect base camp for us during that week and a wonderful retreat for the following weeks. It is cozy and bright. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. For us, who are very private people, we kept our window blinds shut because the homes were rather snug.....also, it seemed we could hear everyone outside if they had a normally intoned conversation, so we whispered a lot! That being said, if you are a noisy bunch, you might be rather out of place and find a better location in a busier neighborhood where noise wouldn't be an issue for you or against you. The box fan that was in the house helped a few times with needed white noise (like when the neighbor power-washed his deck the morning after our very late arrival!) The house was spic and span, so tastefully furnished and the kitchen really had just about everything we needed. There's a nice sized 'frig, a washer and dryer which was a huge asset and an additional shed in the back if you needed to store anything. The shed is also set up to be used as an additional bar-type area. There is also A/C which we only used a few times. The location was wonderful in that we were in a quiet neighborhood and had only a very short walk to get to the beach. Our stay was 19 days off season which were pure bliss and then the remaining days were much busier with a major influx of people. This did not affect our peaceful abode here, only the beach and town environment. So, we just ramped up a bit and took the attitude, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and had lots of fun touring the island by foot and trolley and just meandering into and out of places. There are many great eating choices, and fun shops to check out while here. We pole-walked the beach coastline for a great workout. Chris, the owner was readily available to answer our questions and help us get acquainted with the island. He is very kind and laid back and totally respectful of your privacy. I am happy to say that we have arrived back home in a much more rested and peaceful condition than when we arrived. I would totally recommend this property for serious R&R.
Our month on AMI and in this little cottage was just wonderful. If you are looking for quiet, private, peaceful, quaint, and convenient than this is the place. We loved the setting, the neighbourhood so quiet, and just stepping out and hanging out in the hamac. The cottage had everything to meet our needs. Chris the owner is super friendly, helpful and he will bend over backwards to help you out if you need anything that his kitchen doesn't have? have two bikes available was wonderful and we biked all over the island
This was our first trip to Anna Maria Island and it couldn't have been better.. The weather was perfect and the modest cottage was great. Nicely renovated, fairly comfortable, well equipped, clean and welll maintained inside and out. It is conveniently located close to the beach, shopping and dining. You can park your car and ride the free trolley that takes you from Anna Maria City pier to Coquina Beach seven days a week from 6 a.m. til 10 p.m. This area helped deliver the feel of the "island life" we were seeking. We loved it.. will definitely be back and hope Chris can accomodate us again.
