Dixon Rauch purchased this house in 1982
A family second home for over 30 years, we are all busy guys so we love to rent it out to others.
A great, cozy, comfortable house, great year round. In the winter, there is nothing better than sitting by the wood stove and reading or playing games or watching a movie - unless it's the summer when it's hard to beat sitting on the deck right above the Salmon River and watching and listening as it goes by; with a great view of the tree covered mountains across the river. Very peaceful and comfortable for a short or long getaway. And all the activity you could wish for within miles: golf, hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and more.
Nice, quite location on the river and just across the road from the Resort at the Mountains golf course. Great walks through the golf course in the winter - when it is closed to golfing. Only about 15 minutes to Government Camp and 35 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows. Definitely worth the extra 15 minutes to stay in Welches vs. overpriced and smaller accommodations for comparable cost at Government Camp. Also, many more places to walk your dogs in Welches. Loved our 3-day stay in late February.
Absolutely loved our stay. It just feels like home. With a perfect view of a gorgeous river and snowcapped foothills. It had everything you'd want - great kitchen, great bedrooms, fantastic woodburning stove. Also remarkably good internet (for those of us stuck working while the rest of the family goes skiing...) Wish I could live here all the time!
Great cabin on the river. When you go on the deck and look down...there is the river. The kitchen is great with a big counter to work from. The golf course across the street has several paved path through it and is a great place to walk both human and dogs. The owner (Dixon) was very nice and even called me back one night to help me (technically challenged person) with the TV remotes. Great cabin for our long weekend!
Nothing beats the beauty of the porch, the trees, the sounds, the animals, such a relaxing spot. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The location was perfect for traveling to the gorge and the city, we could have stayed for weeks. The house had everything we needed. Thank you
Wonderful home and location! The owners are very easy to work with and responsive. The house has many extra accommodations to make the stay as pleasant as possible. We will miss morning coffee on the back deck overlooking the river!
We enjoyed the time and the home felt like home. I do wish the posting for the vacation rental would have mentioned no yard and no direct river access, but overall we had a wonderful time!

A great getaway; only 45 minutes from the city of Portland, OR and yet tucked away in the mountain setting and right on the Salmon River. Close to hiking, skiing and fishing. Right across the street from the 27 hole golf course that is a fun and challenging course. No end to the activities available, and lots of great choices for meals or take out.
