About Dixon Rauch
Owned by the three Rauch brothers; inherited from our parents who enjoyed the place for many years. We're natives of Portland and have been coming to the Mt Hood and Welches are all our lives.
Dixon Rauch purchased this House in 1982
Why Dixon Rauch chose Welches
A family second home for over 30 years, we are all busy guys so we love to rent it out to others.
What makes this House unique
A great, cozy, comfortable house, great year round. In the winter, there is nothing better than sitting by the wood stove and reading or playing games or watching a movie - unless it's the summer when it's hard to beat sitting on the deck right above the Salmon River and watching and listening as it goes by; with a great view of the tree covered mountains across the river. Very peaceful and comfortable for a short or long getaway. And all the activity you could wish for within miles: golf, hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and more.

So cute! Great view
What a beautiful view! Perfect for our group of 4 people. We loved waking up and watching the geese on the river. Very beautiful. Would book here again.
Gorgeous River views, lots of cozy accommodations but a bit dated...
I arrived late Friday night and the instructions for checking in were perfect, it was a piece of cake! It did take me a moment to get the hang of the heating system (turning on baseboard heaters as well as wall thermostat) but the house got cozy very quickly. I found the kitchen very well supplied (although some of our party struggled with the fancy wine opener so they may want to get a simpler version) and there was lots of room for our 1 year old and wiener dog to frolic! We didn't use the fireplace but did watch TV and sit outside to admire the rushing river it was so beautiful! I found the master bed very comfy but the master shower stall was a little awkward (it is not built for a tall person)! The location was ideal, close to a store and a great hiking area and only 20-30 mins to snow at White River! Occasionally the room did smell a bit musty or moldy and I would have loved to know there was a booster seat (I brought our own highchair and pack and play) - a pack and play there would it really easy for families. Some of the info in the house's binder was quite dated and referred to an air mattress that had been moved or removed so that could be updated. I would definitely stay there again!
A good base for a nice vacation
The other reviews accurately reflect our experience.
We stayed here for a week as a base for winter activity, and the house has everything our family of four wanted: comfortable beds, plenty of space to store food purchased just up the road at the grocery store up by the highway, and a good supply of cleaning supplies and paper products, and SkiBowl and Government Camp are only about 20-25 minutes away.
Great place for the couple of nights we were looking for. Thanks.
We were just looking for a place for two nights while we went to Mt. Hood for skiing. It fit our needs well. The place was easy to find and there were good instructions sent to us on line. We were warm there which was nice as we looked out on the beautiful icy Salmon River. TV's/DVD's etc. were well explained in our instructions and worked very well. All appliances were in order and functioned well. The en suite bathroom and shower were very small, but the other bathroom could function for all four of us. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the wood stove, but thought it would have been nice. Overall, liked the place well.
Our group loved this cozy little home in Welches. The location is ideal to do any of the activities Mt. Hood offers.
Very nice instructions were easy to follow thanks for allowing us to stay at your home.
Very homey extremely well organized and clean love the back deck and the water being so close.
A great getaway; only 45 minutes from the city of Portland, OR and yet tucked away in the mountain setting and right on the Salmon River. Close to hiking, skiing and fishing. Right across the street from the 27 hole golf course that is a fun and challenging course. No end to the activities available, and lots of great choices for meals or take out.
