Log Cabin with elegant tranquility in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley, MT. Offering nature's solitude with spectacular Rocky Mountain Vistas. The perfect spot for vacations, honeymoons, or sporting retreats.
The Bitterroot Valley has been our home forever. We take great pride in this property and participated in the construction from the beginning.
John and Jani Meuchel purchased this cabin in 2001
The cabin was built on my childhood family ranch with lots of memories of cattle ranching and beautiful horseback riding.
The view of the mountains to the West is breathtaking from the hot tub and there is nothing like watching the sun go down from the swing on the front porch.
We had the perfect week away at this cabin. It had everything you could ask for and the scenery was amazing. Hamilton was a great little town. We would highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!
The cabin is meticulously clean and completely outfitted. Great views! Close to town but you feel completely private and away from everything. This was excactly what we were looking for. I would stay here again and recommend it to everyone!
The cabin quality and location was above expectation and John and Joni were incredibly helpful and friendly.
The cabin is very well stocked with all the "comforts of home" right down to shower soap if you didn't bring any. The interior is comfy with leather furniture and a great recliner. The kitchen has pots and pans for all of your cooking needs. There is a porch on the north side with a glider for two. On the south side there are two chairs and a patio table and grill. The scenery is too spectacular for me to even try to convey! Grocery stores and restaurants abound. There is nothing I can say that would be remotely negative about Harlan Cabin.
John and Joni are very nice to deal with and they are available to help with whatever you might need.
My wife and I spent lots of time trying to find a private secluded cabin nested in the mountains, look no further!! This cabin captured everything we were looking for. The craftsmanship in the cabin, kitchen amenities and overall hospitality of John and Jaynie are unmatched! Plenty to do in the area as well. My wife and I hiked around lake como, went horseback riding by the alta ranch and gave our luck for trout fishing! We even were blessed to see the cacti and bitterroot blooming (mid June). Would definitely recommend Naps grill and red rooster (breakfast calzone is amazing)!! We will definitely be planning to come back to this amazing little piece of heaven. We would strongly recommend this cabin!
My husband and I stayed at the Harlan cabin in December when, for a few days, the temperature outside was 0 (yes, ZERO!). It was warm and cozy inside the cabin the entire visit. The view through the windows is FANTASTIC! The Bitterroot Mountains are so close on the west side of the valley and it was gorgeous to watch the sunrise turn the snow covered mountains a beautiful pink color. At night the stars shine so brightly it is a amazing. The cabin is on a hill slightly above the valley floor so when you look out of the windows (or when you are outside) you do not see the homes on the valley floor- just the mountains in their full glory.
The cabin's location couldn't be more perfect. It is located about fifteen minutes south of Hamilton. We did not mind the quick drive from town at all because we felt we were out away from the "hustle and bustle" of everything. Because the cabin is situated on a hill you can not see any other houses nearby so you feel very secluded. The land behind the cabin is a large privately owned ranch so there isn't anyone around to bother you. There were deer and bunnies around the house during the day and they were a delight to watch. The cabin has a nice deck outside with a couple of nice chairs, although we did not utilize it much in the zero degree weather. We expected to freeze when we got there, but the cold air is very dry and does not penetrate like damp air. We were very surprised at how comfortable we were outside, so don't be afraid to rent the cabin in the winter. If you get the bonus of snow then the place is additionally gorgeous.
The cabin has a nice open and airy feeling and there is plenty of light that comes in the numerous windows to make the place feel cheery. The propane fireplace kept the cabin nice and warm and we didn't have to carry in any wood! And, as you have probably read numerous times in the other reviews, THE PLACE IS IMMACULATE! The very large bathroom is spotless, the kitchen and the appliances are spotless, and we felt so comfortable with the knowledge that is was so clean. The queen size bed in the downstairs bedroom was very comfortable. There are two more beds upstairs in the loft, which was deliciously warm and toasty when we checked it out. Perfect for kids or extra guests, but we didn't use the loft because it was just the two of us.
The owners were very friendly and we had a very enjoyable chat with John one afternoon. You will not regret renting this place- it is a diamond
The Harlan Cabin is located in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley.
