Fantastic camping experience!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of three with a little boy who is 6. We couldn't be happier staying here! Now you have to understand if you want to camp in April near the rain forest you might run into rain. Luckily it was dry during the day and rained at night while we slept. But we knew what we were getting into, and don't mind roughing it. The tents were awesome, ZERO leaks too. We had fun going to the river and walking the trails. The cots are well made, all of the sheets were clean, even soft, fluffy throw blankets to use. The surrounding tents were really nice too, they even had a playground and hammocks at each site. The porta potties are the cleanest I have ever used (and I have used many lol..) The host family was so sweet to us. It really made the trip more enjoyable because they even brought us fresh crab upon arrival! They brought us fish and chips the second night, hand delivered it to us too. The hosts are gracious, kind, and quite helpful. My favorite part of the trip was cooking inside on the propane stove. It brought me back to childhood adventures in Oregon with my parents. We are beyond happy about choosing this place to stay at. We will be back again in the Summer for more fun too! Thank you for the prefect camping getaway!!!

AWFUL EXPERIENCE

  • 1 of 5

I don't know where to start. This was a nightmare. First let me start by saying that the pictures in the above ad ARE NOT pictures of the current tents. Those tents are no longer there, nor is any of the equipment pictured. What you actually pull up to is a run down parking lot with run down tents. There is trash everywhere, old moldy toys, rusty chairs, old lumber and mud EVERYWHERE covering EVERYTHING. (I actually got stuck in mud) Inside the tents were NOT the beautiful 7 inch mats pictured. There were thin small cots with dirty sleeping bags tossed on. There were also no wood stoves as pictured with " unlimited firewood". There were 2 little propane heaters. Only 1 worked. There was no coffee maker as advertised. No grill that was usable as advertised. We decided to try to cook on little propane stove. It took 20 minutes to get it to work. We grabbed a pan to start cooking. It was covered in mold. Picked up another one. Same thing. Every dish, utensil or pan was dirty or covered in mold. Went to wash them and there was only a sponge that was laying in a puddle of rain water. That was all that was available. It started pouring outside at about this time and a moment later we noticed several areas of the tent leaking. We had enough at this point and decided to leave. We packed up and stopped to tell owner we were leaving and why. She offered no apologies. She didn't seem to want to take responsibility for the false advertising. I'm sure she will defend herself in a rebuttal, but if you want the truth, just drive out to the camp site and see for yourself. It is easily accessible off main road. We will not be back and will be spreading the word about this camp site.

Owner's Response: Dear Carolyn and/or future guests, We sincerely apologize about your unfortunate experience, this is truly not our intention. We strive for every customer of ours to have a great camping experience. Our goal as a small campsite is to provide a easy fun affordable camping experience, we have customers who come from all over the world who love to camp and love that they get to do that with out the hassle of set up and having to bring all there gear. I apologize you did not feel like it was what was advertised. we appreciate the feedback so we can take your points into consideration so we can be sure that all our future guest get the experience they are looking for. I sent Carolyn an email apologizing for her experience and provided her with a refund without a request, because it is our goal to provide a better experience regardless of the situation. RE: The pictures are a bit outdated I will get some new ones up asap, i can assure you we have the same tents pictured, we did treat the tents with waterproofing that is a different color so the tents are different in color, we are having a very wet year wetter then any year we have had so its a bit muddy out there, we have added some gravel to control the mud and water retention, as well as we can till it can dry out a bit. Customers car did get stuck and we washed the mud off her car for her. We replaced the wood-stoves due to safety and heating efficiency to the Mr Buddy portable propane heaters, one heater heats a 200 sq ft room with no problem and we have more on hand, one of the heaters was having some difficultly staying lit. We have hard water from our well source without a filter the white residue on the dishes was not mold it is calcium & magnesium ions form the hard water. Toys where dragged out there by our grand kids and have been removed. The cots have been replaced to ones without air due to customers popping them, we had brand new comforters and sheets that have never been used on the cots, we provide comforters or sleeping bags based on preference. Our dish washing stations are outside so the water does not damage the tents we are working on relocating them to a separate tent designated to this. Coffee makers are camp coffee peculators, please understand we are a small family business we love what we do and we truly want everyone to be happy, we are located on site so if you have any questions concerns or need anything we are happy to help! please due stop by or call if you have any questions.

You will be glad you stayed here!!!

We cannot say enough good things about this place. The owners will do everything possible to make sure you're happy. The property is right on the river and beautiful. The tents have every amenity you could ask for. If you are a family with children, the large tents are spacious and there is a playground to play on. If you are a couple, the campsites feel private. If you are camping with a group, there are different sizes of tents to choose from. We were traveling and did not have the ability to bring camping gear and this was a wonderful compromise. While on the Olympic Peninsula, we looked at some regular campgrounds and there is no comparison. When we first pulled up, I was a little concerned because it did not look like a regular campground. But once you drive past the owners residence and playground, the campground becomes apparent. An excellent value for the money. The only caveat I would give is make sure you understand how the showers work, because the hot water does not last long at all.... But that could have been operator error! The location is wonderful, about 8 miles outside of Forks . Many of the Olympic Peninsula activities, sites, and landmarks are within an easy couple hours drive. The beaches are less than 30 minutes away. We are already planning our next trip and can't wait to see the owners and the property again. We are so thankful that we had the chance to meet the owners and stay at this wonderful place. Thank you thank you thank you for your wonderful hospitality and please don't ever close your doors.

Very friendly place to camp!! Kids LOVED it!!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we had!! Very friendly and gracious hosts! We don't have camping gear anymore and wanted to take our boys camping, I heard about this place from a friend who stayed there about 3 years ago and it was decided then that this was the place to go. Everything you need is there, tents very roomy, cooking gear, shower, firewood and even ice. We had the BEST time and are looking at our calendars to make plans for another trip. La Push beaches are beautiful, similar to Cannon Beach. Thanks Mechelle & Dan :)

Best Way to Camp!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rode our motorcycles from the Seattle area to Neah Bay/Cape Flattery, then down to the Forks area. I looked at hotels and other sites on VRBO, but this is the one that really appealed to us. We were sad to only stay one day! The location is great -- easy to find, yet off the beaten path. While it is located on property next to the owner's home, it still feels remote and truly like camping (or glamping, really!). Everything is provided except food. When we arrived, we were tired and ready to be off our bikes, but asked the owner where we might buy a bottle of wine to enjoy by the fire. She immediately replied that she could bring out a bottle for us, which she did at no charge. Amazing! My husband debated showering in the morning, as it seemed as if it would be cold, but he said it was incredible. The steam filled the shower tent in about 30 seconds, making it a cozy retreat. We met some great people who also were staying there. We would love to go back and stay a few days to enjoy the area's sites. Thanks for a great stay!
