I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, this Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Les Bons Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras.
Jeff Clary purchased this house in 2006
The owner was very accommodating! He responded accordingly to our calls and requests. The apartment had everything that we needed for a 5 night stay. It is close to a lot of cafes and shops in Uptown. Overall the neighborhood had a really good feel for a low key stay in New Orleans
The location was perfect, near stores and restaurants and a short walk from our son's house. We had a few issues that Jeff responded to quickly. the place was clean and ready for us when we arrived.
Spend some time on plumbing and add some additional co-ax and power cord so TV can be moved to be viewed in the living area as well as in bed. Quiet area with good parking and area aminaties.
Everything we needed was within walking distance and we took advantage of it. Bakeries, restaurants, bars, and Magazine Street.
We had a wonderful stay! The house is just perfect! Enough for a family of four! Great location, charming decor, clean and cozy! Amazing neighborhood! We felt like locals! Near my favorite supermarket whole foods and a great variety of restaurants on magazine street! The owners wife Vitoria was helpful and extra sweet! We had such a wonderful thanksgiving!
Great location -- a block from Magazine and the best bar in the world (Le Bon Temps!), easy to get uptown and downtown. The neighbor below didn't care for two seven year olds above him/her, although I think only one or two of his/her banging on the ceiling/floor was warranted. The front room gets light early as they're are sheers on the windows, which made sleeping in tough. Adults could push through the light issue, but if you travel with kids or light-sleeping adults, they'll need to stay in the bedroom.
All in all, great location and price.
I could not recommend this property more highly. Great location and nicely appointed accommodations. Could not ask for anything more. I really appreciated the great selection of books in his library.
