About Robert Heinrich

I am a caretaker in charge of a very special home.

Robert Heinrich purchased this castle in 1995

Why Robert Heinrich chose Lake Winnipesaukee Area

This property is a well kept secret. The home was built in 1897 as a grand victorian cottage by AV Lincoln, the largest property owner in Charlestown,MA which was at the time the epicenter of Boston. Mr. Lincoln was the real-estate consultant for the railroad, which was booming at the time. Mr lincoln sighted the home perfectly in sech a way that it always is sunlit with the undisputed best view of Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee mountains anywhere.

What makes this castle unique

Every day is beautiful from The Lincoln Cottage, rain or shine. Watching a weather event from here is alost as good as a sunny day. Everything you need for a home away from home is here at the Lincoln Cottage.

Absolutely Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and a large group of friends had the honor of staying in this beautiful house this past weekend. The owner, Robert was so friendly and was a call/text away if we had any questions or needed anything at all. He even showed us around the house and where everything was before he left. We had such an amazing time and couldn't be happier with our stay here, we didn't want to leave!

From the wrap around deck, to the gas stove, and even the private beach with a fire pit..our experience there will be forever remembered. I will most definitely be booking with Robert again and hope to make this a yearly tradition.

If you enjoy beautiful views of the lake, breathtaking sunrises/sunsets, relaxing by the lake with a fire and, just feeling completely at home then this is the place for you!

Might be the very best view on the entire Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our entire family enjoyed our stay. The home had beautiful wood everywhere - Panels, floors, cabinets, ceilings. Just lovely. The kitchen is a dream with multiple ovens, dishwashers, etc. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. The top floor is a large separate living area with a bed, bar, full kitchen, full bath and spectacular views.

The large porch overlooks the Lake and provides excellent family time just watching the boats, sunrise and even sailboat races.

The owner is very accommodating and is nearby should a renter need his assistance.

I highly recommend this vacation getaway.

Gorgeous views, superbly-equipped kitchen, but hope for cool weather.

  • 4 of 5

Our extended family just returned from a stay at the Lincoln Cottage. It is a beautiful home with spectacular views and the most well-equipped kitchen you will ever see. Robert was a helpful and responsive host. A couple of items I would raise if you plan to stay there. We had one of the hottest weeks of the summer and the house is not well equipped to deal with the heat. The bedrooms had window air conditioners, which meant sleeping was no problem, but the main floor and the third floor were terribly hot. Without window screens on the third floor we couldn’t open the windows at night because of the mosquitoes and other bugs. There are three full baths in the house, but the two on the second level (with claw foot tubs) are hard to use for showers without getting lot of water outside the tub. And while the lake view is gorgeous and the property has a handy boat house, swimming access to the water is a bit tricky for older folks and younger. There is a gently sloping rock shelf in front, but the footing is a bit slippery. There is a state park with a sandy beach a mile away and we found that more useful for the children in our group. I think we all agreed we would consider staying at the Lincoln Cottage again, but would certainly aim for a time when heat wouldn't be a concern.

Owner's Response: New improvements for the 2017 high summer will include screens and proper fans to make the top floor which highlights the observation deck, more useful in the summer after dark. It will sadden me to occlude the clear views through the restoration wavy glass that matches the homes period, however, I understand the need The Lincoln Cottage gets its magnificent panoramic views and stiff breezes by being both high above and close to the largest open area of the lake called “The Broads”. With oversized windows on every side of every floor, if there is a breeze to catch we catch it here. The living room/kitchen/dining room level is screened all around. Unfortunately, you were the victim of sustained 95 degree heat wave with no breeze. When that rarely happens I jump in the lake during the day and take a cool shower at bedtime. I have been complimented by almost all of my guests of the fine choices I made to improve the home and keep it in “period balance and theme” at the same time. Most folks that visit just seem to prefer a little more “yesteryear” than you do. My bathrooms just wouldn’t look right with new Jacuzzis. Cast iron Clawfoot tubs are equipped not only with hand showers to rinse in the bath but “afterthought showers” with curtains as well. They are just that- an afterthought, and one must keep one curtain inside the tub when standing for a shower in order to avoid a water spill. There is a large “Rain Forest” walk in shower on the top floor that I always recommend for showering. When I first purchased the Lincoln Cottage I found my “Swimming Ledge” was surrounded by evidence of habitation for decades. It was revered as a convenient swimming spot for many over the years. This gently sloping ledge with a natural built-in stone seat gives a convenient access to the lake with a smooth bottom. A large stiff broom is on the beach to brush off any occasional algae buildup. I thank you once again for visiting The Lincoln Cottage Robert

A Vacation To Remember!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (3 generations) just returned from a most memorable week at the "Lincoln Cottage." In a word it was fantastic! The warmth and charm of the house is unending. The comfort of the rooms from top to bottom, and the delightful wrap around porch over looking beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee were all grand. For those who love to cook (and my family loves to cook and eat) the kitchen is a show stopper. It had everything we could want to prepare delicious meals. The beach was a perfect place for all of us to gather each day and to enjoy the refreshing, clear and clean lake. Evening campfires with delicious "S'mores" were a great way to end each day. Finally, Robert is a very gracious and engaging host. Thank you Robert for a truly wonderful week!

An Amazing Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most incredible weekend at this home. Everything you could need for a relaxing, fun time is there. Robert, the owner, was very responsive to questions from the time I made the reservation all the way through the end of our stay.

The private beach area was a perfect spot to relax in the evening around the fire pit, and the boathouse worked well for docking the boat we rented for a day from a nearby company.

The house has multiple areas that are great for gathering your group, whether for meals, playing games, watching a movie in surround sound, or just chatting on the wraparound porch with incredible views of the lake. Also, if you enjoy cooking, this is the house you'll want to rent! The high-quality appliances are great for making any meal for a large group. Before we even left our group was talking about how much we'd love to stay here again.
